What you got is a S&W Model 2, Series 2. Got one myself when I was trying to collect as many single action S&W as I could. Yes it is chamber for the .38 S&W. Got all three series for the S&W Model 1 1/2 (long story why they were call Model 1 1/2). The Model 2 Series 1 was called the “Baby Russian” due to the resemblance to the larger frame Model 3 chambered in .44 Russian making it highly collectible while the Model 2 Series 3 is rare and I’ve never found one for sale in all the years I’ve been looking. This model was a popular pocket pistol due to the more powerful .38 cartridge instead of the smaller caliber guns, Model 1’s were .22 rimfire while the Model 1 1/2 were .32 Short rimfire, .32 Long rimfire, and .32 S&W. In my collection I also have the cartridges and reloading equipment for these guns. I’ve given up on getting more for my collection so the ones I have are in a display case that I look at on occasion.
