@@cbiscuit4666 It isn't, though. Korn said they weren't a metal band, and their influences were more based in alternative rock. To me, nu metal is some twisted love-child/grandchild of grunge and industrial rock. In fact, nu metal was similar to what the grunge scene was in a lot of ways. There are basically no "metal riffs" in nu metal, and it's the down-tuned guitars which fool listeners. Heaviness does not have to = metal. Calling it "nu metal" was 100% a marketing gimmick.
Some main genres left out are grindcore, groove, gothic, industrial, alternative/nu, and metalcore (those last two are a bit debatable). Genres like deathcore are combination genres, ones like christian or viking are solely based on lyrics, and ones like goregrind or melodeath are subgenres of subgenres, so none of those should be counted as "main" subgenres. Not complaining, still a great list! It's very good for finding new bands. A good point is also made in the description of this video

Melodic Death Metal actually

Thrash is awesome and nu is pretty fun.
I hate it when people say nu isn’t real metal
Nu metal is actually an alternative genre, not metal.

Folk metal definitely sounds like I'm getting my ass beat by some forest pixies using the power of friendship
