I'm 17 now and about to be 18 and I've probably seen it around 10 times since then. The point is, nostalgia.
This movie frightened the shit out of me when I first saw it. I had a chucky doll. I watched 1-3 in succession of each other. It terrified me so much when I was 6 I literally stayed up for over 2 weeks and broke my sisters toys and threw away the Chucky I had. I grew out of it as I got older. It seems some people always say "But it's just a doll and it would be easy to defend against a little toy". I think that's what work's in chuckies favor (I know it's just a movie but typing is fun). I think anyone being attacked by chucky would be frozen in fear but more than that... dis-belief. It always take's his victims a few moment's to realize "Holy shit, did that thing just attack me" and that's when chuckie strike's. Just look at the mom when she first meet's chucky. She obviously trying to convey fear but I think she's going for pure dis-belief as well. I just realized something. Andy also plays Charlie in the Santa Clause. Also... Kid who's named Andy, also just so happens to own a toy who comes to life. +2 For two thought to be obscure Disney references.
I always felt sorry for Andy. He's having to be subjected to all these horrible things and the parents/adults he tells don't believe him. That made him a helpless victim.
Not to turn into Douchey McNitpick, but at 2:32, Charles Lee Ray/Chucky didn't "fool" the cop into driving past him. In the film, it's shown very clearly that there was a getaway driver parked in a van waiting for Chucky, who then sped off when the cop car approached, leaving him behind. The cop (played by Prince Humperdink) chasing Chucky screams to the cop car to follow the van, so the cop car peels off of chasing Chucky to pursue the van. This is a pretty funny review, but that scene was taken way out of context. As huge a Nostalgia Critic and Phelous fan as I am, it still does kind of bug me when reviews will manipulate footage to manufacture "mistakes" in the movie that aren't really there.
when chucky says that it's the witch doctor's fault for him being stuck in the doll, why is it not his own fault? He was the one who transferred his soul into the doll. there was no one standing in front of him telling him to. He could have just as easily let himself die and be reincarnated or something. He didn't have to do this. Or he could have waited to reveal himself until he found a baby or something and transferred into that. the baby couldn't resist and he could start his life over again. He should have probably discussed this more with the witch doctor before he got into all this trouble. Then he could of had a more solid plan in case this happened. but i guess the possibility of the serial killer being "born again" wasn't scary enough so the had to put him in a non threatening doll body and have him be semi invincible. I think it would have been more interesting to follow the psychotic baby killer through his whole killing career than watch a doll be reincarnated five times with even sillier concepts than this one. Congrats on expanding on a really lame idea. Thanks for all the pain.
modelmajorpita lol, Well that answers that. It must have been scary when you were that young. I saw Nightmare on Elm 3 when I was a young kid so I know where you're coming from. Oddly enough it was a double feature with Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
400KrispyKremes Make's sense, since Pee Wee's Big Adventure WAS a horror film too, in disguise that is. seriously, I've never seen so many disturbing images in my life, as a kid of course, it was so horrible, I almost completely forgot it was based off the TV show, I actually found it more terrifying than Nightmare 3, because it completely caught me off guard, I wasn't expecting that from a supposedly "kid friendly" movie. Also that clown dream sequence was the inspiration for Stephen King's IT, there you have it.
There is not a SINGLE movie ever made that everybody likes-loves-respects-has a high opinion of. That is just a fact of life. Some people like the Scream movies, some the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, some Nightmare on Elm Street, some EVEN like the Leprechaun movies (however small THAT number of people is) some Friday the 13th, some like the Chucky movies, some do not. We all have our reasons, and there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for foul-barbaric cursing, bad language and everything. So just relax guys and girls, it is just a movie. And the NC rocks :)
What's with all the Phelous hate??? O.o Did I miss something? Anyway... suddenly these reviews have a whole lot of potential Five Nights at Freddy's references going to waste...

I'm not sure if a GUN accessory fits the idea of Good Guy...
The Mutton Chop Gamer This is MURICA
The Mutton Chop Gamer well some soldiers are "Good Guys"
This movie scared me shitless as a kid. Thanks for helping me overcome my childhood fear, Nostalgia Critic!
Funny enough, the main cop in this is also Jack Skellington so...Christmas tie in!
I always felt sorry for Andy. He's having to be subjected to all these horrible things and the parents/adults he tells don't believe him. That made him a helpless victim.
Literally half of the criticisms and jokes they make about the movie are debunked by simply just watching it lmao.
Thanks for keeping these up though.
Thank God for UA-cam bootlegs of forgotten videos.
I first saw this movie at a bar in Mexico when I was like ten and fucking hell it was scary.
modelmajorpita Why were you in a bar when you were ten?
***** Apparently so.
modelmajorpita lol, Well that answers that. It must have been scary when you were that young. I saw Nightmare on Elm 3 when I was a young kid so I know where you're coming from. Oddly enough it was a double feature with Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
You were in a mexican bar at 10.... and this movie scared you? LOL
"Keep driving faster, you'll eventually get away from the backseat" lmao
They could have named that doll anything. ANYTHING! And they picked "Good Guy". Seriously?
Well they couldn't name it:murder cannibal terrorist Tim Tim part of the evil fuckers from hell toy line
+top hat chainsaw robot dinosaur ... that would sell.
Chuckie is the kind of toy that Grima Wormtongue would give his children.
+airmail dolphin
Still got nothing on 7216 Gold Good Guy. (Look it up.)
Brad Dourif was nominated for and Oscar for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest; he won a Golden Globe for that movie.
How cool would it be if Andy was the killer, just influenced by the doll?
NOOOOOO!!! Not the exploding Elmo section!!!
I loved Child's Play 1-3
+JOHN BOKO SHOW yeah they fucked up the last one so bad. maybe they will redeem themselves with the new one. not holding my breath though.
Emily Hooper there a new one 0_0
*+JOHN BOKO SHOW* What was wrong with Curse? It kept the horror elements.
Smaher This is funny. i was actually thinking about childs play right now when your comment popped out in my email
"This is the end, friend" that kid from child's play, fucking bad ass line ever XD
8:07 That made this entire thing for me, I couldn't breath for a good thirty seconds.
15:37 chucky: I have a date with a six-year-old boy
FBI OPEN UP
Would Chucky kill the fbi I'm mean he is a killer doll so what
They should finish out the series and do bride of chucky, seed of chucky, and curse of chucky.
Regan Shade what? No cult of chuckie?
@@RogueT-Rex8468 The comment was made before Cult came out
Agreed! I'd love to see them tackle the rest of the films.
It's a shame that Phelous had a falling out with Channel Awesome, so that's never going to happen. :(
Hey DON'T JOKE ABOUT THAT! My brother died via a MLP Doll. This is a joke by the way, so don't think I hate NC, He's awesome.
An MLP Doll killed my parents. Generation 1, horrible stuff.
Euuuughhh!! Just be thankful it wasn't G3. I shudder at the thought.
You want me to start this back up again?
if you said doll was pink, I would belive you...
David Jafari gen 3 is pure satan. you must send those back to hell before they eat you
Andy has more tragedy than Spiderman.
Donuts! I got donuts! I got... Hey I know you!
Oh my gosh. Imagine a Princess Bride x LOTR crossover! Aragorn vs Humperdink in order to expand his realm past Middle Earth!
HAMMER TIME i laughed so hard
Now I get the joke about the date with a six year old boy critic used in his alien resurrection review.
A decade later...less is STILL more...
As silly as this movie is, I still think the scene where the mother discovers Chucky has no batteries is creepy.
Was this movie even meant to be taken seriously? I enjoyed the franchise as a whole, but found it pretty goofy.
What's with all the Phelous hate??? O.o Did I miss something?
Anyway... suddenly these reviews have a whole lot of potential Five Nights at Freddy's references going to waste...
+Jamey Hedgehog Um, this was made YEARS before FNaF came out.
+Jamey Hedgehog he is kinda boring to tell the truth i think it would be better with NC alone =/
Lucas Biermann I, for one, couldn't agree more!
+Jamey Hedgehog I really wish you people would shut the fuck up about that overrated game.
vissova ore wa ochinchin ga daisuki nanda yo
the guy did not have the voodoo doll lying around, chucky brought it along because he thought the guy would not help him
Nostalgia Critic's high pitched voice reminds me of Judge Doom
That's nothing. I had a Pinkie Pie doll that once stabbed my guts out and cooked them into cupcakes.
Grimer Wormtongue used Minimize.
Nobody:
Phelous: 🙄🤷🏻♂️
i just keep replaying the hammer time scene so funny
10:23 I've never seen such an emotionally-fueled performance since Tommy Wiseau's rage at the end of The Room.
I can't believe I was scared of chucky
