Down the road from the Acropolis in Athens there's a temple to Poseidon at Sounion, on the tip of the Attic peninsula. Byron carved his name in the stone and you can still see it. Watching Van Morrison and Dylan sing with the Parthenon in the background was like seeing our poets communing with the muses. Thanks so much.

The Apostle Paul preached the gospel of Jesus Christ at Areopagus in northwest of the Acpropolis in Athens Greece. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16/ Jesus Christ is the way,and the truth and the life and no one can come to the Father except through Him. John 14:6/ Salvation is found in no other. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:20/ It is destined for men to die once and after this the judgment. Hebrews 9:27

Van should record an album “unplugged”, just him and his guitar singing all these great songs. He also did “Crazy Love” with Dylan on this Greek mountain top. I believe it is his greatest rendition of “Crazy Love”, better than the studio version imho.

Following the commercial failure of ‘Astral Weeks,’ Van Morrison and his wife moved to upstate New York, close to Woodstock, and close to Bob Dylan’s home, an artist he greatly admired. According to Morrison’s wife, "Van fully intended to become Dylan's best friend", she recalled. "Every time we'd drive past Dylan's house ... Van would just stare wistfully out the window at the gravel road leading to Dylan's place. He thought Dylan was the only contemporary worthy of his attention." Sadly for Van, though, Dylan moved out of town just before he arrived.

Van the Man wrote some wonderful songs. In my teens of the mid-1960s our teenage garage Brit rock cover band played several songs by Them, songs like Mystic Eyes and Gloria and Baby Please Don't Go. My two favorite Morrison songs are Into the Mystic and Tupelo Honey. It's sad though to see Van all blimped up. Too many beers and chips!!

@@GnomicMaster I understand completely, it’s a very strange situation we find ourselves in, I’m a Catholic married to a Protestant, My best friend is a Protestant married to a Catholic police officer, in my circle of friends we are a very mixed bunch, but we all get along beautifully! There are still tensions, but the younger generation just want to live in peace, have a good job, a nice social life and a roof over their heads. Unfortunately there are a few on each side of the border who want to make trouble. You should try to make it North of the border next time, it’s truly beautiful, and you would be made very welcome. However, back to Van. My younger brother, who sadly passed away in Virginia, with two friends were huge fans, and followed Them around the various venues where they were playing, Van was always very nice to them, bought them drinks (soft). I actually saw him a few weeks ago in Hollywood, a small town just outside Belfast, just sitting outside a local bar/restaurant, no-one bothered him!

Once settled in I could not help but notice a most miserable looking chap sitting in the corner who looked a bit like a tramp, and with a great scowling face. Then another guy walked in and they started into conversation, it was then that I recognised the guy was Van Morrison lol.
