- ■ MUMBAI, INDIA: Dharavi, India's biggest slum, isn't exactly known for being a place where you can mingle with the locals over a couple of cold ones. But I'm not one to shy away from a challenge. I therefore took it upon myself to find a watering hole in Mumbai's roughest neighborhood so I could meet some local residents and hear their stories. Did I succeed or was this one Indian adventure even beyond the scope of this intrepid Northman? Find out in this episode where I go exploring and meeting the people of Dharavi.

That city is intense! It just never stops. All day & all night the noise from the people and the rickshaws is incredible! I drank some coconut water one day and ended up with blood poisoning that almost killed me! I'll never forget that place.

The moral of the story is be incredibly careful about what you eat / drink in foreign countries and also get specific vaccines / boosters depending on which country you plan on visiting.
Regardless, i still loved my time spent in India and found the people to be incredibly kind and happy!

Hey i live in Mumbai and you have really nice content. Even though u visited probably the worst place u never criticized and even when u did u did it politely. Your attitude was very positive which is why locals accepted you, just a word of advice try taking a guide or a friend who can speak the local lingo because u encountered some great people who were helpful but some shady ones as well. To be honest: While I wouldn't say that the hygiene of south-east asian streetfood markets partly is not questionable, juxtaposed western hygiene standarts are just ridiculous. You won't get food poisoning that quickly just because it is not cleaned in an minute-interval as it is here in the western countries. Heat kills all the bacteria and a working immune system will do the rest most of the time.
