    Looks like a great setup and I think I may follow your lead with some of your methods. Looks great from what I see.

    Any issues with the cheato getting inside the return pump? I ask bc I didn’t see any media basket for the cheato.

    What is the tube like thing that's attached right above the two return nozzles inside your tank?

      Good eyes. It's a cheap LED light that you can get on Amazon or Ebay. I wanted to try it out but would not recommend it. It's okay and I can have some moonlight when I feel like it.

      Good eyes. It's a cheap LED light that you can get on Amazon or Ebay. I use it for occasional blue moonlight. It comes with a remote and has other colors. It's okay for the price.

    How do you keep the cheato in place? How do you keep it from flowing over to center chamber?

    • @ThisChannelOnly
      @ThisChannelOnly  6 років тому

      It just stays together like a ball of yarn in the second chamber. There is nothing holding it in the second chamber. I'm think of making a basket so I can manually rotate the chaeto. The side next to the light gets some die-off because it gets hot.

    • @ThisChannelOnly
      @ThisChannelOnly  5 років тому

      You don't need anything to keep it in place. The friction on the sides and gravity holds it down. I finally did make a basket for it but that is more for rotating the chaeto around. If you don't rotate it, you get some die off on the side next to the light.

    How did u remove the black background from the inside of the back chamber

    • @ThisChannelOnly
      @ThisChannelOnly  3 роки тому

      The back glass is covered in black vinyl on the outside. Just cut out the portion on the glass where you want the light to shine through. I'm not sure I know what you mean by black background inside the back chamber.

    what heaters are you using and what is that you have resting on the return nozzles

    • @ThisChannelOnly
      @ThisChannelOnly  3 роки тому +1

      Eheim heater but I can't remember which model. They have been going strong for 3 years even when I messed up and there was no water in the back. The bar above the nozzles was a cheap light bar that I have since removed.

    How much did this entire setup cost you? I'm building something somewhat similar and im priced at around.. 931 USD and thats with a skimmer, fuge light, ATO, etc

    • @ThisChannelOnly
      @ThisChannelOnly  2 роки тому

      I actually lost track of how much I have spent. I will say that you don't really need a skimmer. The fuge light is nice but not that critical. ATO is a must so I would go with that and a nice light. I think the AI light is very nice for the price. Do regular water changes and you will be pretty successful.

      @@ThisChannelOnly alright thank you! I guess ill skip on the fuge light and skimmer for now, set the tank up and see how it gets along for a while and if needed I could buy one

      @@ThisChannelOnly and also.. I have the option of either getting the AI Prime 16 or the Kessil A80 Tuna Blue, Kessil is cheaper but I've heard AI prime is the best light for its price, but I would like to save money if i can.. but I really want that damn AI prime, what do you think?

      ThisChannelOnly also how high do you keep the main chamber compared to the chambers next to it ?

    • @ThisChannelOnly
      @ThisChannelOnly  4 роки тому

      My middle chamber is about an inch lower than the two sides. I keep my heater in the middle chamber so I keep the water level high enough for the heater.

      I have been thinking about getting the IM NuvoSkim DC. I'm hesitating because it would be one more thing to clean and maintain. Right now I'm just doing weekly water changes.

    • @elementom1
      @elementom1 5 років тому

      ThisChannelOnly personally I’d look into the reef glass skimmer. You can set the waste to go down the a tube to a much larger collection container of your choice. Making cleaning not unnecessary but much easier also you can choose your own air pump to decide what you want the flow to be. All that needs to be done is for the air stone on the skimmer to be replaced every few months.

    Why so many heaters? Too many. Reduce chemi way too much. Why use sock when your using floss, choose 1 or the other. Good luck

    • @ThisChannelOnly
      @ThisChannelOnly  4 роки тому

      I use two heaters in case one fail. At the time I wasn't sure if I preferred floss or socks. I will be switching to floss so I don't have to wash the socks.

  • @jboh2112

    You are actually running the water a bit high i think. For the flow to work as intended you want the water level just falling over the baffles to the center return area.

    • @ThisChannelOnly

      I had the pump off for the video but the third chamber level is about an inch below the second chamber with the pump running. Thanks for checking out the video and posting.

    • @ThisChannelOnly
      @ThisChannelOnly  5 років тому

      I'm not exactly sure but I think the Eheim pump is about 200 gal per hour. The tank itself is supposed to be 20 gallons but with rock, sand, and etc., I think it is about 15-17 gallons.

      @@ThisChannelOnly do you use the balls or the media bags of tiny balls? I wish the squares came in a smaller size and not such a big box. It is 75 bucks!

      If you are talking about MarinePure, then I'm using the balls. I see now that they also come in "gem" sizes. I may chisel some of the extras that I have into small squares and fit them into the media basket.
