Holy shit dude... This is by far the best video I've found about the Sespe Wilderness. I live in Ojai and was planning on doing the Gene Marshall trail (piedra blanca trail) though to reyes creek. But then decided not to due to COVID shit. I was typing out a comment asking about trail directions cause I couldn't find them online, then I expanded the desciption. I've honestly probably gone to piedra blanca over 30 times through my childhood, if that gives my praise any credibility. Anyway, I was psyched looking at your trail mapping. Then I resumed the video and fucking sleigh bells plays! Super great video, did all the campsites have running water?
Glad you enjoyed it! When I was there in November 2019 all the campsites had water, even the unmaintained Little Mutau campsite had enough of a trickle to fill up. I'm not from SoCal but my understanding is that was a pretty unusual circumstance. I still needed my entire 6L capacity for the Johnston Ridge trail which was like a 10 mile stretch that was very exposed and had no water the whole way.
@@zachalexander7082 I just watched your video. Great video. Any chance you can share the starting trailhead and the name of the hot springs? My GF and I just might do this trip. Thanks in advance. Darryl
Bro, you slept at little mutau, then went back to Johnston ridge trail! Wow. That’s a crazy hike from start to finish! I enjoyed your video!
Thanks for the CalTopo link!
Great video brotha. I love Los Padres but I don’t think im capable of doing something so strenuous. I admire your courage!
I did this same route in reverse. First night at the hot springs. I think I spent 4 or 5 days hiking in April. Nice vid.
