The Beetle actually doesn't having homing, rather it goes in a straight line in the direction you throw it in, and if you hit it it goes in the opposite direction & can potentially pick up the thrower. While Boss Galaga does have homing, it's rather predictable and can be destroyed in a few hits. As for Flipper the Bumper is basically Flipper 2.0, hence why it was removed (the Balloon Fight stage still has it though). That aside I like playing with both items on and off.
In regards to Pokéball Pokémon, I find it funny how Mew was still left in as a rare chance in Ultimate even though its gimmick is entirely useless now. Mew used to be such a desired Pokémon because it would always drop a special item like a trophy, a music CD, or a sticker. But since all music is available in Ultimate from the start, coupled with trophies and stickers no longer being a thing (which high key sucks btw), it's now the most useless Pokéball Pokémon thus far. I know spirits basically function like stickers, but Mew doesn't even drop them which I feel they should've done at least because there are so many of these goddamn PNGs in this game lol.
When I was younger, my favorite item has always been either the firecracker launcher from brawl, or the home run bat. I do like the home run bat more, but I do miss the firecracker launcher
In Ultimate, even with items set to the lowest spawn rate possible, they spawn so fast that all you end up doing is throwing items at each other for the entire match. It’s so dumb.
I liked items in the older games, but the items added in smash 4 and ultimate were way more annoying and/or overtuned, and just ended up making the casual experience less enjoyable for me.
I always turned off certain items as a kid, even before competitive play ever really became a thing. The more time went on, the more items were turned off and the lower the spawn rate became. Eventually I dropped them altogether and got into the competitive scene.
Man items are fun, I use to only play with items but then I stopped playing with them. But now my smash rules etc for playing online has items. It can really be helpful if you find someone using items because you will know how they work.
Honestly I love playing with items as a more competitive player, it's fun to try to use them in clever ways and outsmart my opponent with crazy item plays
Wacky stages, characters, and Items are the perfect elements of special events in some tournaments. Getting the top players to screw around on Poké Floats and Ganondorf is a fun time for viewers. Not that we want that the entire time. Once or twice a year at the big chill events is perfect.
I still have a setting in my Smash Ultimate where I have final smashes and certain items on, but to compensate the madness I also set the score to use stamina instead of percent.
I liked Items in both 64 and Melee but they got way crazier since then. I don't even like the chaos in the newer games anymore because it's even too much for the casual standard. Between all the overtuned items, on-screen effects, stage hazards, ultra smashes and whacky DLC characters you don't even understand what is going on even as a player with hundrets of hours of gameplay. It's nuts and really needs to be tuned down and/or overhauled how it actually works. Even a 2 vs 2 without items is already a sensory overload for most people.
While im on the for glory side i do like some item like: some trophys, mushrooms, boxes/bottles, metal box, fireflower, n the guns. W that said ill prob only use em w my 5yo cuz or the goofiest of friends.
my favorite item that got removed was the trophy stand in brawl while it was only used in subspace as an instantkill for enemies I think it would have been a neat concept to use for battles as well acting sort of as a forced hero kaclank you throw it at an enemy and the enemy becomes a trohy where essentially they are frozen if hit while in mid air they drop like a rock enemies are frozen for a set time 2 seconds and mashing does not affect modify it during this oppents my get in a free hit similar to a shield break any hit done apllies no knockback but instead applies the knockback modifier to hit stun instead
Smartbomb used to kill people mad early. Now its so weak. I miss the chaos items brought in melee and brawl. Smash 4 to ultimate and likely next title the items feel so weak and like they hardly matter even with them on outside of like gustbellows mostly.
@@mochiman6307the Blue Shell is a necessary evil. Without it, what’s stopping a first place player with a breakaway from running away with the game by getting all the coins and a consistent supply of protection items? Besides the Lightning (which affects everyone, so I don’t count it), it’s the Blue Shell. The rush of trying to quickly regain first place afterwards through Mushrooms, slipstreams, and Red Shells is an adrenaline rush itself. And that’s all thanks to the Blue Shell.
@@mochiman6307 It would be way too easy to break away from the rest of the players if it didn’t exist. The blue shell is there for a reason, and if you have a mushroom you can always dodge it.
Honestly I just hate how in MK8 the blueshwll can hit people on its way to first. Know it was like that in an older game but I just think it's annoying
The black hole actually comes from Kid Icarus Uprising, its multiplayer mode specifically
Smash fans don't play other games.
I forgot about Kid Icarus kinda like Nintendo did. 😅😅
It's labeled as a Smash original item in game

Mew only dropped cds. Celebi dropped trophies, and jirachi dropped stickers.
No you still need to unlock music either by doing achievements, getting them as rewards from classic mode, or buying them from the shop.

It's also fun
Items can be fun as long as you agree to turn off the annoying ones
the fan was removed becuse the players can broke the button every time faster and can hurt the finger
Same I always turn off the healing items, or that flag
Team Healer,Fire Flower,Dragoon and Day Break.
turn of beehive and cucco in ult btw

I like competitive matches but like items too
With just my family, final smashes, bananas, and boxes may stay on for a while, but even at a mediocre skill level, items are divisive.

I know it's a fan mod, but the Golden Gun in Smash Remix is busted. One shot but it's an instant fatality.

The only items I don't like are jab weapons.
Could you not mash out of the Beetle, or am I tripping?
items are a secret meta that not even the best players can figure out 🧐
They can cheese the matches, heh.
Red Shell is overpowered with characters with reflectors.
Hammer is the only items than can reliably KO a Rathalos.

I really like items. They add the chaos the series is supposed to be known for. They're great!
If you mash the A button while airborne with the golden hammer, you'll float for a couple of seconds
The beetle doesn't track, and the tracking for the ship is so bad, you're kinda asking for it if you get hit
I mean in Ultimate i dont like playing online with items cuz theres gsp
Take me back to all brawl side events. The time I almost beat Lain’s pikachu with bowser
The golden hammer also allows you to float!

Explain to me why items aren’t allowed because of RNG but Hero is a character in competitive
Rhink its because Hero will always have the same arieals tilts etc, plus theres way more items than spells that TOs would have to worry about
Due to the difference in player control over the given RNG, the difference in-between a choice of a calculated risk vs a choiceless uncalculated risk.
Mario kart should ban items
