The problem with these new guyanese communities are not the actual homes but the non existent lack of basic infrastructure (ie sidewalks, decent roads, public transportation etc) and the fact that there is absolutely no regular cleaning and maintenance being done!
The roads are decent. Sidewalks are nonexistent however. No need for public transportation in a new development. I simply wish they would put metal grates over the gutters and extend the the drive way to accommodate the length of 2 cars and then allow for sidewalks that don't touch the road
If the opposition had any sense (which I doubt!) they would center their election campaign on the immediate creation of a natiowide plan to build sidewalks, bike lanes, proper roads sewage systems and garbage disposal systems!
These things should not be political, they are safety issues. The question is why are our institutions failing to implement safety in the built environment? The answer is ignorance in all political parties because we let ignorant politicians manage institutions that should be managed by trained professionals.

The only logical solution is for either the govt in charge or the party that wants to be in charge to focus on cleaning up the whole damn country! And this must occur at the govt level bc it's the ruling govt in charge in guyana that controls virtually all the resources! What concerns me with most guyanese people today is that they actually seem comfortable living in fliflth and will make every excuse possible why guyana is so nasty! It's sad as my mother left guyana in 1958 and I've seen with my own eyes pictures of the georgetown she left and it actually looked like a nice little town with a bus system, cut lawns and a daily sanitation system! And that was literally 70 YEARS ago! A perfect example of the warped mindset of present guyanese is the Stabroek market which is a decrepit nasty dump! That shithole should've been torn down 30 years ago and rebuilt from the ground up! However you're average guyanese person/govt official will babble about some bullshit history and put that nasty dump on postcards while visitors laugh behind their backs and make comments about guyana being so dirty! The only way guyana will get cleaned up is if the opposition makes "cleaning tings up" it's central platform and actually follows thru with it bc it's obvious that the ppp are completely comfortable with the nasty status quo as long as they and their friends have "big houses" even if those same houses are surrounded by snake/rat filled jungles and dog/cow shit!
