Fantastic job! We used to eat English muffins all the time. But when I stopped buying our bread products that changed. It also means that we haven’t had a lot of variety with our bread. I keep saying “this or that” is the next bread to learn but never getting to it. Maybe now is the time! I spent some time yesterday planning out a few days of bulk cooking in an effort to get ready for garden season. Bread will be on the list and now English muffins will be as well! Thanks for sharing.
Jumping into the comments fashionably late…this recipe is perfect! I need to improve my butter softening attentiveness, but my kids are hooked. One batch lasts about 1.5 days-I do have 8 kids and a husband that are loving them. Thank you!
@heathermack. Holy Mama! Feeding 10, for your brood, would cost $10+ for store bought English Muffins PER MEAL. DIY Bagels would be even more. What a great opportunity to save money in your kitchen. And, if you could get a couple of your troops to become voluntary expert bakers..everybody helps, everybody enjoys, everybody saves!
I love watching your channel because I love growing my own food in my own yard instead of having to go to a garden place, but I have been waiting to find a recipe for English muffins. I definitely will send you a picture whenever I make them. Thank you so much.
I compared your recipe to several others on the 'net & then made YOURS! Amazing differences in flour quantity and slight differences in salt, sugar, some even add baking powder(?). Anyway, today's results with YOUR recipe were excellent! I made some that were 3/4-1" high and some 2" high. Both are good, but the larger size needs slightly longer in the 350F oven. I'm delighted to have found your video! I'm getting to the point were I need more FREEZER space! Thank you!
Watched this video and decided to make this today! Just pulled them out of the oven and they are delish! I can also confirm that the recipe works without a stand mixer and with using oat milk!
I made these just now and they are fantastic! They taste fabulous! The only difference is I used my bread machine to mix the dough. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly and they came out perfect. Thank you! No more buying English muffins at the store!
I made this yesterday , I actually forgot to add in the eggs but it still turns out so good! Thank you for the recipe! I bake it in the oven for 180C for 25 minutes instead of on the stove.
Thank you for posting this video about English Muffins. We had house-made "American" Muffins, crumpets, and Yorkshire pudding at a B&B in England and must say that both were superb when compared to store-bought. My first two forays into making English muffins were too wet and more cake-like. Your proportions and method yield a more authentic muffin as American know them. Many thanks.
Wow! Thanks for showing us the whole process slowly and with explanations! You have made a convert out of me. No more expensive muffins from the store. ❤
I made these last week and wasn’t sure I loved the texture of muffins so instead of making the whole recipe into muffins I made one loaf of bread with remaining dough……absolutely amazing. I am right now making just bread. My husband loves the toast so much. I would love to print the recipe with directions but there are no directions. I’m sure I can figure it out after today but I’d love to print so I can share this. So amazing and I did use bread flour!
Kudos to you! I've tried to follow a few different English muffin recipes, but this one was the best. It's easy to make, and has produced the most consistent results.
Perfection in every way! Enjoyed watching, learned some tricks. You are inspiring! Also greatly appreciated the temperature blanket-definitely making one!
I couldn’t wait to make these. Your recipe was perfect! Thank you ♥️About sourdough you should try the buttermilk method, no feeding or discard. It’s great for a busy schedule.
getting myself prepared to cook some muffins for the first time and it's like the 10th recipe i watch. And it's absolutely amazing! Like all i have discovered from previous vids is compiled into one! Tyvm and you got my subscription ;)
I've been making more homemade things lately. If I can, I try and cook more from scratch. I've been making my bread at home, i no longer buy store bought. I've been making yeast bread, so this is basically the same recipe with small differences. The store bought muffins taste awful, especially with actual farm eggs. I will definitely be making these. Thank you so much!
I made these and needless to say, they are addictive. I'm new to bread baking and these came out well. My only difficulty was that I had corn meal burning in my pan. Thank you for sharing the recipe.
I’m back for a third comment…. Used a 3” cutter, froze some muffins for the past few days and they really shrunk in height and width! Taste is delicious though. Next time (soon) I’ll use 4” cutter and have dough about an inch thick vs half-inch. Recipe is so good!
Yum!! I just made sourdough English muffins for the first time a few weeks ago and they were amazing!!! I gotta make more this upcoming week. Also, more of these types of vids! You do them so well 😊
Thats me measuring... whooopsie lol. Im using sourdough disguard right now. Im not experienced with it at all. We shall see. Thank you, Merry Christmas 😊
Τjank you very much indeed!I often make muffins and I confirmed the baking method as I also use the oven after the pan. Very nice recipe, very similar to mine. I don't put an egg. Do you think it is necessary? I also found the trick with the straw very very useful. So simple but I have never thought of it. Thanks again.
These are delicious. So strange how I was craving English Muffins (pregnancy 😂) and this video was suggested to me. My kids and I loved them!! Will make a again!! Thanks for sharing! Your channel is super inspiring 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Oh wow ! Loved watching your video. I must make these English muffins 😋 never made them before but have missed them. Love your style of videoing. I do some cooking videos as well and I love the personal touch. I have subscribed and looking forward to watching more of your videos 😊 want to wish you all the best for the future and congratulate you on the great job you've done.
I wrote a positive comment but don’t see it….. I love these muffins! Yes, they seemed to shrink a little in freezer. Better to cut when dough is about 1” thick. Might have to bake an extra minute or two when they’re thick….
Bre, these are so delicious.... I made Sausage/Egg McMuffins at home and my husband says they are better than Mickey's! Next is Eggs Benedict and sure to be good! My question is: have you tried cooking them in a non-stick fry pan (corn meal on bottom), low heat with a COVER for 8 mins on each side? One UA-cam lady in Canada used this method and no need for 350F oven. Also, have you made them when dough was at least an inch high? Might have to add the oven step there. I'm only unhappy that they shrink when in the freezer -- doesn't affect the taste though.
Too funny. I was just coming online to look for an English Muffin recipe and got sidetracked on UA-cam and this was the first thing to pop up on my Subscriptions. Lol :) I'll be making them this afternoon.
Just a question can I freeze these as breakfast sandwiches. I recently started making breakfast sandwiches for my husband for work and I make them weekly
Ive never temped them. I never had a problem with doing the method ive done of toasting then baking in the oven for around 8 minutes at 350. I just leave them whole. Once they defrost you can cut them like normal!
Yay!! I was so hoping you would do a video on this after seeing your reel on Instagram! I’m so excited to try this for myself. Thank you for sharing all your tips 🫶🏽
The "argument" for preferring recipes using gram vs oz measurements is nonsense. It is like claining that recipes written in French are better than the same recipe accurately translated to English. If any recipe is converted accurately, both are equal. Ms Ellis should simply say that she is more comfortable with one of two equally accurate methods of measurement, while many others are equally as comfortable with the other.
your kitchen is to clean for anyone that cooks and you are looking pretty good for cooking. When I look like shit when Im cooking.. Just be real. for everyone
It’s your choice to look bad when you cook. No one wants to see a video with a messy cook or sloppy kitchen! Bre is clean as her kitchen! Must be reasons she has lots of viewers! Her English Muffin recipe is excellent too!
I tried sourdough and loved the artisan loaf we made but just didn’t like it with every other recipe we’ve tried. So I’m super grateful to see a recipe that isn’t using sourdough ! (No offense, at all, to those who love sourdough🩷) thank you sooo much! I’m excited to try these out 🥳
Let me know if you try this recipe and what you thought of it!
Tried the recipe and absolutely love it
did u let the cut muffins rise a second time?
Trying it in the morning. BTW, 3tsp = 1 Tbsp
Also, use a lid when browning the first side for ~5 minutes and you can skip the oven.
I have switched to 4" cutters. The muffins shrink in the freezer.
Have you ever tried to make them with sourdough?
They look amazing!😍 For all the non-stick/cup people: 60 g butter and 9 g yeast, so you don't have to google😉
@waldnatur Thank you. Metric is so sensible. 😊
You are an angel thank you🎉
The timing of this video drop is a divine sign I need to start making bread

I tried these and they are so good! I do not have a stand mixer but my dough whisk and some elbow grease did the job just fine.
It funny how neat people can be in the kitchen. Me,I put on my painting clothes, just call me PigPen! Ha ha ha.
Lol! Me too messy bun and all 🤣

OMG! Thank you! I didn’t even think of the bread 🍞 machine. There’s just no way that, at my age, I’m going to invest in a stand mixer!
I have made these several time so good. I do use sourdough though. I use 1/2 cup starter and 1.5 cup of milk. They taste amazing thank you so much

Wow, those muffins look perfect, good job thank you.
Tried this recipe today using a dairy free alternative (homemade soymilk) and it was perfect! A keeper :)

Making these now 😊
Great tips! Thank you
Do you have a suggestion for using a sourdough starter and swapping out the yeast or any of your other ingredients?
Can I use rapid rise yeast for this recipe and if yes would it be the same measurements?
Hi Bre, is there a way to pint the recipe please. Your recipe sounds amazing 😋 and can't wait to try it.
I wrote a positive comment but don’t see it….. I love these muffins! Yes, they seemed to shrink a little in freezer. Better to cut when dough is about 1” thick. Might have to bake an extra minute or two when they’re thick….
Any ideas on how to adapt this into a pumpkin spice English Muffin?
Hi, second time of making these muffins. Perfect muffins to make fake McMuffins breakfast rolls. Freeze great too.

Awesome recipe but honestly crumpets are a much easier process and personally I prefer because I can prep my entire meal prep on my outdoor griddle.
Too funny. I was just coming online to look for an English Muffin recipe and got sidetracked on UA-cam and this was the first thing to pop up on my Subscriptions. Lol :) I'll be making them this afternoon.
How did they turn out? :)
Where do you get your aprons from? 😊
This may be a silly question but how do you reheat them after taking them out of the freezer?
Just a question can I freeze these as breakfast sandwiches. I recently started making breakfast sandwiches for my husband for work and I make them weekly
Hi Bre, could you tell me what glass bowls with lids you use and where did you get them, thanks :)
I believe they are Pyrex. I have same ones
This is fantastic ... before you freeze do you split them or freeze them whole ? And do you know what internal temp should be when done ?
Ive never temped them. I never had a problem with doing the method ive done of toasting then baking in the oven for around 8 minutes at 350. I just leave them whole. Once they defrost you can cut them like normal!

Darn. How beautiful you are. And thank you for the muffins recipe 🙏
So cool ❤ it
you should try with raisins & cinnamon..mm
Do you have a printable recipe?
Has anyone tried to make this in a bread loaf instead of individual rounds
I thought I was the only one who did that straw trick 😂.

Old Gram Gram here, question: the other youtubers alude to mixing the muffin mix 6-10 minutes, you do not...Why would it have to be so long?
3 teaspoons equal 1 Tablespoon.. just FYI
Great i dont buy bread from the supermarket.
Tie up your hairs while you were in the kitchen much more easier.
You didn't specify how much hair to add to the mix!
Good Lord woman, PLEASE at least tie your hair back instead of flipping it all around your work.
