Can't lie that was a masterclass
thank you.
11:08 I assume slugs are the first best because they cant be mind controlled?
Yup yup
nice stuff
Really old video, but I think chain weapons are... fine. they're definitely not great by themselves. However, if you can find some support for them they're boarder line broken in my opinion. A pre- ignitor or automated Re-loaders make them pretty dang good! So, I generally use them for scrap unless I have something like one of those two mods to support them.
I think I realised an essential strategy while watching the video. In a Mantis ship (or any boarding ship in general), you don't need to make your ship a fighter.
Here's where I would typically make mistakes. I would try and get the same sort of weapons (flak/burst lasers/halberd beams) online while wasting scrap doing so.
Instead, a boarding ship just needs to have a solid crew and the bare minimums to break the zoltan shields. Everything else is nonessential, and in fact prioritising them is wasting upgrade opportunities.
sometimes it does make sense to transition into a weapon loadout, but it's very beneficial to know that you don't need to. The trick is knowing which way to go while playing.
@@crowrevell2082 I don't need to invest into shield busting via lasers or flak on a boarding ships. This is something I didn't realise until your video play through. You had enough scrap for purchasing everything, but the trajectory you took was illuminating.
is there value in maxing out the backup battery?
4 power bars for 85 scrap is pretty damn good, especially if you're at the point where bars cost 35 each (4 bars would be 140 scrap)
There can be. Personally i haven't done it often, unless i max out my ship. but it might be worth exploring as a scrap save, like powering engines at the start of fights. Generally, when i'm buying a chunk of reactor i feel like i've already won the run.
Only 173 scrap left over after maxing out? Shame...
jk good vid :)
