Hello Fish Locker! Back home, in Cherbourg, France, we are more focused on lure bass fishing. There is little or no fishing with these surf casting rigs. Everything is archaic. You are a bit of your specialty in England. But in recent years I got started thanks to your advice and I must say that I now mainly fish a lot of rays and I am having fun! Another great edit. Thank you very much to you and well done for all your sharing.
I’m in Texas man I fish the surf in Gulf of Mexico , my rig is basically the same but put the eye of the hook over the tang of the weight. The results is the same when casted. I make mine from stainless braided cable 100 lbs up. Shark proof. Thanks for sharing.
The only thing not in my box is the bent gemini clip, went to the shop, it was the only gemini clip they never had 😂 im going to use grips and pliers and bend some normal bait clips till some unmalested clips arrive 😂 Cheers man tight lines 👍🎣
Another great video John, a joy to watch, would it be possible to say what size swivels you are using on each section and that would relate to all your rig making videos. I'm going mad looking on ebay for swivels without knowing what size to use and the braking strain...
Excellent video! I tie my Uni Knots exactly the same way as you, catching the line in my mouth after each turn and pulling on the tag end with my teeth as I slide the knot tight! 😂
This rig seems to be the solution for dropping down deep (300 ft or deeper) quickly without wrapping your leader around your main line without having to use a spreader bar for example if I was after halibut. 1st time seeing this rig.
Fantastic vid mate, just wish the camera was also pointed on what you were doing with your hands as well, may be you could another one with a wider shot, any way you have a new subscriber and fan, cheers from Australia
I am new to sea fishing and this is a very good explanation how to make the rig and where best to use it, Can you please tell me what strength reel line you use and what size and type of shock leader you use. Thanks
Looks a good rig but one thing that bugs me, the way it’s clipped down and set up all the strain is going to be on the 15/20lb hook length, so with a full blooded power cast with say 6 -7oz lead wouldn’t there be a chance that the hook length could snap ?
Im not familiar with this particular rig but any time i use any regular pulley or up and over I just use leader throughout. Years ago I bought some made up rigs on ebay with weaker snoods and they broke every time I cast them! Look forward to trying this rig.
Hello JhonI have a question I have been fishing with the pully-dropper you presented for a while I use it on the beach to fish for sea bass what annoys me with the system is this when I have hooked up and want to hook in the hook line to take out throwing I notice that at the slightest movement the hook line of the bent-gemini clip falls what can you do about thatps I use impact lead - breakeway I would like to hear from you the rig fishes very well but this is just a minus thanks for the response on messenger
Hi, I love your videos and style of fishing, no nonsense, efficient and sustainable fishing with a great respect for the ocean itself. My go to is a running ledger but been thinking i need to diversify more but when this rig releases it looks like a more complex running ledger? I am new to fishing so probably being silly. What are the advantages to using this rig over others? Thanks, Lloyd
can you do this, showing the order you add clips and beads etc....and which way round bent gemini goes on ? please......maybe made smaller and shown on flat table? ...... i need to know and learn this rig - please
Love the idea of presenting a clipped bait on a flowing trace, right on the bottom and have just made one up (thanks for super-clear instructions) - but doesn’t the nearness of the lead to the trace connection when deployed make bite detection difficult... there’s no ‘slack’ for a fish to pull on, and with this rig the rig body and trace are taking equal strain when casting - they both are anchored to the lead from the pulley. Is that a significant weakness? Or have I got something wrong?
chris gates - Ok. Yes bite detection is less than a simple running ledger but no less than a pulley. The strain of casting is shared between both rig body and hooklength. I have never parted one in the cast yet.
Love the videos , but with me being new to sea fishing I need to know sizes of swivels and beads , clips , etc so I can make your style of rigs . If you could let me know so I can buy them I would really appreciate it . cheers Mike
The clip down bait clips Mr F.L.M are referring to are 'Gemini Genie Bent Rig Clips.' There is a link for Amazon but I won't add it because some sellers are asking ridiculous prices, search Genie Bent Rig Clips in Google and you're golden. Hope this helps.
Hi john hope you can help im fishing a pulley rig with 4oz grip LEDs on a 13ft rod with an older abu 6500 which all are in great condition but i dont think I'm getting anywhere near the distance i should be getting is there any one in Devon that you know who gives casting lessons anyway all the best and keep the videos coming. Mark from Newton abbot
Did you get sorted Mark. If not I'm happy to give you a 2 hr casting lesson next time I visit father in law in Exeter ( so Dawlish or Teignmouth perhaps?) free of charge. Ok maybe the fish and chips are on you. 😅 pm me if you wish.
CastaNet Fishing & Kayak Adventures - Pulley rigs I usually reserve for rough ground. Pulley droppers I use when there is a sideways tide and clean ground.
Jack you are very knowledgeable regarding fishing rigs. I want to learn from you. The problem is your camera is always on your face. I want to see what you are doing so that I can learn. Please give more focus toThe line, knot positions, length of line, break free gadgets and the benefits of two hooks please. I have watched 5 times now and still can’t do it.
Love your videos but when you are showing us how to make the rigs it's too close up, also if you put a white board up behind you on the wall you could draw the rig on it before you start making it. Tight lines keep the videos coming.
As handsome as your face is, I wish you'd show the tying, threading and clipping on camera rather than just seeing you looking down at what you're doing...
- I have posted links to the components you need for making this rig in the description. 👍🏻🎣
I would like to see how it was made before the fancy gadget was available since it's not available on my side of the world.

Glad you like it!
Great video can't beat a pully dropper had many fish from it👌🎣👍😊
An excellent, well explained video, cheers buddy.
Great explanation thx 😊 your workshop videos motivate me to clean up my garage :)
Amazing Fishing UK - Haha. I did see a recent vid of yours and thought the same. 😛

Hey up Jon have you made any updates to this puppy dropper rig from when you 1st made your video any changes that make a big help.
can you do this, showing the order you add clips and beads etc....and which way round bent gemini goes on ? please......maybe made smaller and shown on flat table? ...... i need to know and learn this rig - please
max wragg - If you watch the video carefully you are shown everything in order and orientation. For example. 06:23

Thanks - and you’ve used it, I haven’t. Look forward to giving it a try on the East Coast skate once this isolation restriction is lifted.
chris gates - Let me know how you get on with it. I use in for smoothies and rays and works really well.
Love the videos , but with me being new to sea fishing I need to know sizes of swivels and beads , clips , etc so I can make your style of rigs . If you could let me know so I can buy them I would really appreciate it . cheers Mike
- You will have to learn to gauge what you're buying Mikey, as different brands call them different things and sizes.

Hello John, have you tried ''Trident Tackle'' rig components yet? if so may I ask your opinion. John.
Brilliant ! thanks good vid.
John Rolis - My pleasure John, I hope this helps.
John what are the situations/conditions you'll use pully dropper and the one you'll use regular pully rig???
CastaNet Fishing & Kayak Adventures - Pulley rigs I usually reserve for rough ground. Pulley droppers I use when there is a sideways tide and clean ground.
The Fish Locker Workshop thanks John
What is sideways tide? Tide not always sideways??
CastaNet Fishing & Kayak Adventures -
some venues the tide doesn’t always run in or out. But left to right or right to left.
super video
is there any alternative for proper pully?

Can you make a video about how to make a rig for a bass fishing
Great!

If you want to catch big skate get yourself up to wick in the summer months
We cannot see what you are doing mate sorry. I am going to look for another channel. Take care. Tom.

Информация полезная, но видео снято плохо. Зачем мне смотреть на твой фейс? Главное, что делают твои руки!
The camera should focus on what you are doing instead on your face explaining verbally.
we need to see you sat down doing it on a table , bassicaly we seen nothing but your face sorry mate
