They did not let their meat dry properly. If the meat is wet, it will make the flour soggy. In that case, the breading will not stick properly and may fall off when deep frying.
Sorry those ribs looked like they were cooked 2 days ago ,wrapped in foil and eithe rmicrowaved or thrown on the grill to reheat. Throw some costco BBq sauce on it and boom u my friend love them.
UA: Being the diner affionato for 50 years from Philly I appreciate your input on diner from north jersey. My experience is mostly in central & south jersey. So, what I saw is that the chicken looked like a mistake, the toast was acceptable & the baby back ribs were great. Sorry that the sweet potato fries were a loser as I like them. I didn't see any meatloaf & greek dishes on their menu, so that immediately is a RED flag! The ribs at $27 is in line with most restaurants, but again no bug deal! In conclusion, I not on my way up to Jersey City to eat at the City Diner!
Yeah most diners are owned by Greeks. This place doesn't look like a diner. Back in the day diners were a great spot chill after a night out partying. Also there a lot of good places in JC to eat even more so back in the day unfortunately JC isn't the place it used to be
Being a professional chef for 25+ years..even if the food was tasty, the technique and the laziness is sad.. use a brush and paint on the sauce, not squirt it from a bottle..They should of thrown it then on a charcoal grill or under a broiler and caramelize that sauce.. The fried chicken looked atrocious..
I always look forward to UA Eats. So wholesome and happy with the UA tasty food happy face. Even if the featured food is disappointing, the food review is usually entertaining.
Appreciate that! I thought the ribs were very excellent. Other two items were more hit or miss. I wonder if the fried chicken was just a bad day as it is commonly cited as their most popular item
I'm like you UA, up here in Canada the "Double Double" (double cream, double sugar) is our most popular coffee but perhaps as I age into my late 30s for some reason just a well made, fresh, black coffee is all I crave more and more. Just because a taste is "bitter" doesn't mean "not good".
I must be the only person that does not understand the whole chicken and waffle thing, especially if it is on the bone. It is just too hard to eat, and I just plain do not understand the combination of Chicken and a waffle. I ordered it once and while the food was good I basically ate each item on its own because it makes no sense together. But, as they say, to each their own, eat what you like.
Sorry, that fried chicken was a mess… the whole point is the batter You should be biting through it to get to the chicken otherwise what’s the point? Get rotisserie
The cook shouldn't have sent out that chicken. Great review as always, and loved the Doctor sense of humour. 😊 I appreciate it a bit more perhaps because my father was a Consultant anaesthetist with a great sense of humour.
Why do many people assume when the meat falls off the bone the rib is good? Bbq pork ribs when done properly should not fall off the bone. The should require a little tug and chew. Otherwise what you want is pulled pork and not ribs.
I used to go to this diner before it was remodeled...back in '99..it used to be called Flamingo. The waterfront wasn't developed and the diner was usually very quiet...it was a beautiful lonely place to eat.
Holey moley. Been to those 3 diners. Friends in NJ took me to Tops and TiTok in the late 90s. Lived near the one in Jersey City (in the 80s surely different name, ,maybe owner whatever). It was downscale and somehow that building survived. I like the places you do go to!
Hey UA, nice video as always! Just in case you haven’t known: there is a steak deal in a restaurant called Legasea now - $45 for unlimited NY strip steak. Maybe you want to check this place out.😊
Because NJ is located between a lot of major cities. For example DC, Philly, NYC, Boston. When people were driving through NJ they wanted to eat, so diners popped up everywhere.
The diner building industry was located in New Jersey. Originally they were literally diners, I. E. Railroad dining cars converted into buildings. Then small buildings that looked like railroad cars but weren't. Then finally much larger buildings. What they all had in common was they were pre-fab buildings built in a factory then trucked to the site for assembly. Not all of those companies were in New Jersey but a lot were.
Most diners carry artificial syrup. You have to specifically request for "real maple syrup" for them to bring it out. They usually come in their own sealed jar.
lol, this place is hella nostalgic for me when I started my software engineering career at a bank near there, went here a couple times for lunch when I was asking my cousin for some life advice, or some friends who started their jobs nearby in order to catch up with them. pretty simple diner, not my usual lunch spot when I was working there a couple years ago, but yeah. Also, don't even get me started with Tops, that place did become super touristy. I remember going there after a game jam, when me and my friends were basically dead from all the programming/game designing we did during Global Game Jam's to go get some chocolate chip pancakes at tops, but man was it always hard getting a table, even back in 2015 over there
Ah man, also there was this one cafe over there I used to frequent. Highly recommend Hidden Grounds for some really good cups of coffee. But the Lakawana's and 9Bar's over in that area near exchange place and Grove St. were great spots, too. Especially, since, at the time when I was working around there, really dug into those oat milk mocha's over at lakawana by Pershing Plaza
Everything but the ribs looks underwhelming. But have you thought about ordering one dish at a time? When you order that much stuff, the last things you get too won't be as hot and fresh. So you might not get the full experience. For some things the timing matters
Coffee should not be bitter or sour bye . Robustness and strength you should go by . I personally wont got a black to be safe ill go flate white double strenght .
It’d be funny if UA tried all the booze options, got drunk, started a fight and reviewed the punching quality. I mean he’s in Jersey anything can happen!
Mmmmm, YEAH! Thanks. Hi again, It's me Ernest. I am an enrolled member of The Yakama Nation and I am a seasonal Tribal Commercial Salmon Salesman. I sell my fresh caught Salmon and various Smoked Salmon products at Cascade Locks Oregon. I truly believe that you would enjoy my Smoked Salmon. My selling season is from July to November. I would truly appreciate it if you could come by then. Thank you
Well, with a menu that big, you'd be lucky to find a couple of decent items. The people who rate these places have spent most of their lives eating super-processed garbage, so take their recommendations with caution.
It's named "Tops ". When they expanded the food quality fell off from like a 4.7 to a 4.0. City Diner is about a 3.8 at best and pretentiously yuppie priced. I used to go there. Nicely they keep a lot of riff-raff out.
Don’t blame us blame Araya that put all our good diners out of business food too high he closed all the supermarkets in Jersey City all the old people have nowhere to go. That’s what our mayor did to our Jersey City. It’s a food desert up here.
You goto a Dinner in the suburbs of Jersey. City Dinner food of what you ordered looks nasty and who is telling you about those Ribs? They are not smoked but boiled. Chicken also looks sad. You will learn in time UA.
Water wants to evaporate out of the Highly Osmotically Pressured Syrup and will form a Skin at the top of the cup as the Water evaporates from there first, it would eventually all congeal.
Do you have a favorite diner?
My favorite diner is right around the corner from me in Minneapolis. Our Kitchen. It’s a greasy spoon but top tier.
Waffle House
No place good around here!
Safe Journey!
Yellowbird Blue Agave Sriracha!!!
Ponzio's Diner in Cherry Hill. NJ
ritz in livingston. get the corned beef between latkas. you’re welcome.
They did not let their meat dry properly. If the meat is wet, it will make the flour soggy. In that case, the breading will not stick properly and may fall off when deep frying.
I love wet meat
That's unfortunate. I've actually been here once before and had their fried chicken and it wasn't like that last time
the fried chicken looked disgusting 😂
Really did
It always look like that without the protection of the breading when cooking....
UA is too nice. The breading on that fried chicken was just sloppy, even a diner should be ashamed to serve that to a customer.
The ribs at "Famous Dave's" are crazy good. Smoked, seasoned, juicy and amazing flavor.
most expensive diner of all time. It's open 24/7 though so if you get a craving it did the job. Lived there for 7 years.
UA has the best narration and really enjoys life
I would have sent that Chicken back as it looks PITIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry those ribs looked like they were cooked 2 days ago ,wrapped in foil and eithe rmicrowaved or thrown on the grill to reheat. Throw some costco BBq sauce on it and boom u my friend love them.
Chicken looks underwhelming
He did say healthy❤

Great analysis, I one day hope to be as knowledgeable as you

Lol, you decided to add coffee to your milk. hahaha. Time for a change to the background music however.
I like it❤

Cry more 😂😂😂

I'll be the second person. This combination just doesn't appeal to me.

The chicken looks like frozen, box chicken. But, happy to hear my hometown still has a good diner. Thought they we all gone.
I used to go to this diner before it was remodeled...back in '99..it used to be called Flamingo. The waterfront wasn't developed and the diner was usually very quiet...it was a beautiful lonely place to eat.

Should have had a taste of the coleslaw & reviewed it too. Overall another good & honest review
Hey UA, nice video as always!

Hey Joe: where is this AYCE steak place??
@@YASTravelsEatsWell Yes, the name is: Legasea Bar & Grill
Watching from Maple Ridge, BC. Merry Christmas UA and all his followers.
Americans don't know what BC is. Just say Canada.
Love your videos
I'm a new subscriber ✅ I love you're channel!! Keep going!!!
i haven't had ribs and years...now i'm craving some
great video, as always
The ribs were excellent!
Dumb question, but why are there so many diners in New Jersey?
Because NJ is located between a lot of major cities. For example DC, Philly, NYC, Boston. When people were driving through NJ they wanted to eat, so diners popped up everywhere.
i think they just call restaurants diners
Jersey is know as the DINNER CAPITAL of
the World ....

cool info@@themoviedealers
I don’t send food back but I would’ve sent that “fried” chicken back
Rt 22 diner in Bridgewater NJ.
Their food quality is top notch!
Most diners carry artificial syrup. You have to specifically request for "real maple syrup" for them to bring it out. They usually come in their own sealed jar.
I use to go there all the time, the food has become completely underwhelming.

A lot of diners have extensive menu items but unless their known for it don't be tempted to get it otherwise you'll be let down
For sure, you need to know what they're known for
Best Quote "HOLY SMOKE"
Top's Diner in east Newark NJ, is the best diner in the country.

Safe Journey!
Yellowbird Blue Agave Sriracha!!!
lol.......i thought you were gonna put a pinch of milk in the coffee, but instead you made it a coffee milkshake lol
You do a lot better without that carnival music
😂😂😂
I’m here for the carnival music
Everything but the ribs looks underwhelming. But have you thought about ordering one dish at a time? When you order that much stuff, the last things you get too won't be as hot and fresh. So you might not get the full experience. For some things the timing matters
Watching during the premiere
UA is considerably more philosophical than usual in this video.
great episode!
Massive alopecia on that chicken
I went there years ago and I still remember it being really solid…
Merry Christmas, UA snd to all who celebrate.❤
Merry Christmas!
Love the chanell UA. The chicken was a huge miss. Hype is rampant nowdays.
Ever check out Brownstone Pancake Factory in Edgewater or Englewood ??
Should have sent the chicken back!
UA Premiers isn’t it 😂
chicken looked rough
Next time if you do go again to city diner get they're corned beef hash... by far some of the best I've had.
Black is where it’s at with coffee!
None of it looks that good to me
Coffee should not be bitter or sour bye .
Robustness and strength you should go by .
I personally wont got a black to be safe ill go flate white double strenght .
Chit Chat diner in west orange NJ. Is amazing
Music has to go. It dumbs down the videos
It’d be funny if UA tried all the booze options, got drunk, started a fight and reviewed the punching quality. I mean he’s in Jersey anything can happen!
What do you want french toast to taste like?
Try clinton nj diner. Amazing with a huge menu.
good video as usual, please vary your music!!
You like sugar huh? Is there sugar in syrup? Yes - THEN YES!! - Buddy the Elf
Mrs. Buttersworth has a great, above-average taste. I miss it as I usually go for maple.
I love how he looks so disgusted when he loves the food 😂😂
I’m sorry but you should have sent that fried chicken back.
Can make much better at home and I’m surprised the “chef” allowed that to be sent to you.
A hot black Dunkin’ Donuts coffee is tremendous. The only way to start your day or pick up your afternoon. That’s why I trust your food reviews
😂
One item I review at this type of cafe is: Are the potatoes not frozen. Crispy hashbrowns.
They’re selling substandard food
That chicken does not look good. I would have sent it back.
Thought you figured out the mirroring on your camera 🙁🙁
Mahwah Diner in Mahwah; Top notch!
You enjoy your food for sure❤❤❤❤❤

Well, with a menu that big, you'd be lucky to find a couple of decent items. The people who rate these places have spent most of their lives eating super-processed garbage, so take their recommendations with caution.
I made a deconstructed Shepherd’s Pie today
Full & napping now 🤣
That French toast for $8 is wild and a
Bottomless coffee for $3?
I’d go in and get a side of sausage every day.
Come lunch time, I go to a diner for a grilled cheese and soup of the day.
Baby, it’s cold out there.
Interesting eating videos!
Looks like they double fried that chicken
You should put Bubby's or Maison Pickles on your list of visits
that was some sad fried chicken...
I found the best diners in Burlington county but thrn again there are great diners all over the state.
Do you take stuff home of you can't finish. I hate to waste food, and the next day makes for good snacks or lunch.
It's named "Tops ". When they expanded the food quality fell off from like a 4.7 to a 4.0. City Diner is about a 3.8 at best and pretentiously yuppie priced. I used to go there. Nicely they keep a lot of riff-raff out.
Yeah I’m sending that shit back
You never add milk to coffee only cream.
THATS BANQUET CHICKEN OUT THE BOX!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
17:20 "Holy shi...smokes!"
This place looked gross. I dont know how u said its a top tier diner
