This video was such a treat to watch from start to end, and I love how you're bringing attention to these smaller businesses while being unbiased. Way to go, UA!!
This was a really interesting vid UA. I remember working in NYC in the ‘80s and trying to find places that wouldn’t break the bank. I used to go to the Blarney Stone for the $5 London broil lunch (no drink, just water) haha.
Great pics, sir! 1. I love my breakfast carts, and there is nothing wrong with a good old, simple bagel with cream cheese! 2. The dumplings looked excellent! A nice juicy, porky filling. 3. Never been to Percy's, but now I'll check it out. I hang out in the West Village often. And, thanks for the TMNT reference 😉😃 A great daily cheap eats list, very much as I've done. I'll throw a good hot dog, and halal cart into the mix as well. The life of a NYC Paramedic lol... We know where to get cheap, good food!
I thought about including hot dogs but was afraid it would come off as too touristy. And yes you absolutely have to hit up Percy's! It's a great pizza joint especially for the price. Also thank you for your service as a paramedic!
I just stop eating out to save money. Been doing it since Jan and I've saved so much money. Only when I stop spending money on eating out, I realized how much money I've been spending.
3:49 This scene, where UA is reading a generally obscure book, reminds me of the scene in _Keeping Up Appearances_ where Onslow and Daisy are in bed, and Onslow, a deadbeat Londoner, is caught reading _Principles of Condensed Matter Physics_ . In the series, Onslow is actually the philosopher character and a whole lot smarter than he looks. 4:17 Whoa. What was the cost of the subway ride? :) Just raggin' ya. I'm sure you have some kind of monthly pass. That you can get by for eats in NYC for $10/day is nothing short of amazing. This was wonderful. Thanks for posting this! :)
Thanks UA, I need all the budget advice I can get, travelling now the dollar rate is crazy high and the prices in NY are horrible. Any advice for me? I don’t eat meat!
I really do like your videos and your honest opinions. In case you're wondering who your viewers are I am an old fat guy from Brooklyn that lives in Central Jersey and have been a foodie since long before the term was coined.
These places have increased their prices and it’s only been a little over a year since this video was posted. The eight dumplings are now $5.50 and the cheese slice is now $3.00.
you could of saved $2.50 on the dumplings if travel around more. If you go to Essex Street, there's a place call Northern Dumplings which served amazing Dumplings for $1.50 for 8
Good to know. I’m here visiting from Hawaii and just rationalize the food prices here is like being in Waikiki. I think there’s a Costco in Brooklyn and that would mean a hot dog and drink for less than $2. 😉
Good Thing about Percy is that their mushroom pizza is also 2 bucks and the amount of mushroom is massive... Super decent deal for mushroom pizza lover
Yah NYC is nice not to charge sales tax on food - Kansas City charges 4% sales state tax on food and you still might pay sales tax for both county and city. Despite the cost of living differences, food is still cheaper and more plentiful in NYC than KC.
@@uaeats When the crust is hard and crackery like that, it means that they used too much oil in the crust. Better places don't do that because it removes the chewiness of the crust that we all like.
@@uaeats bro, a real bagel, no way. That’s a fugazy. I get my real bagels from Utopia bagels in queens. Please try it, you will never want to eat another bagel in your life
Enjoyed this. I've been to Tasty Dumpling before, and I've eaten "off the cart" so many times on my way to class. With the cream cheese on the bagel, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Might depend on what day it is or how much of a rush someone was in when preparing them, it's an NYC thing. I haven't tried Percy's, yet, but since my buddy's name is Percy, I'm definitely going now. My one slight criticism is that you don't tell viewers how much it was in transit fees to get to each place. Someone coming into NYC needs to know that your 10-dollar day will in fact cost them between 20 and 30 dollars with transportation thrown in. It's a minor thing and not completely relevant to your video but does need to be stated. If you walked to all of these places that's great but a tourist who might be staying in Mid-town ain't walking to Chinatown more than likely.
Glad you overall liked the vid! It was $2.75 to take the subway one way. The $10 was a food budget and I only used the cash in the plastic bag. I used a separate credit card for the subway
@@uaeats It wasn't really a criticism of you, I was just trying to get across to anyone watching that even a "10 dollar" challenge can and will cost a bit more money. Just to get around NYC can be expensive. Especially if you don't know some of the shortcuts (expense wise) that most New Yorkers know. Thankfully the MTA dropped the two fare zones back in the 1980s.
Best food UA-camr. Thank you for bringing light to these affordable, but good eats - hopefully they see great business soon.
Thanks! And I hope so too

Thanks so much for your generosity!
Love your videos and always love when you are on the lookout for the best food in NYC! Don’t let the haters impact what you love to do!!
Always love your videos man!!!!!!!!
Thank you! I really appreciate your support!
Great video! Those dumplings and that pizza actually looked amazing! Keep up the good work, UA. Love your videos.
I especially recommend that pizza joint! Can you believe it was once $1?
Awesome video UA!!!! This is a very helpful video!
Good thinking to present this different angle today! Another great video!

OOOoo cant wait for a video all about Chinatown
I'll wait for when I have a full day of free time to film it!
That pizza looks fire🔥 Very cool adventure for cheap eats, UA👍💸

Feel bad for Ghulam
He's a really nice guy and usually very happy. Hope his cart returns to its former glory someday!
Ghulam seems like a really cool dude. I would go to his cart just to talk to the guy. I hope he is doing well.
He's a really friendly guy. And very proud that he's been manning that corner for two decades
Keep up the good work❤
Thanks! I'll try!
I lived in NYC in the 1990s and found that it was the best place I’ve ever lived for the variety and quality of inexpensive food.
I loveeeee this video idea! 😁💰 - inspiring me!
Thanks! You're gonna try this challenge too?
Mmmm, New York pizza was one of my favorite eats in NYC!
You definitely made good use of $10! :D
You're so right about Pizzas and dumplings!
Yep they're great when you need a budget meal!

I didn't think it could be done, but you did it!
Should I do it again just in Chinatown?
This channel is awesome. Than UA
Thanks! And you're welcome!
Glad to see it can be done!
Absolutely!
Highly impressed.
Considering one Hardee’s breakfast combo was $10+ this morning, the availability of cheap breakfast/lunch/dinner food must be awesome.
UA makes me happy. Another reminder that it's ok to just be you (UA).
What about travel cost ? What about tip?
The videos is about 24 hour eating in NYC. Like read the title, where does it say how to travel to NYC or traveling to NYC. You’re so unintelligent.
10 bucks for 3 filling meals... can't beat that. even some small veg in the dumplings 🤣
very interesting
Great choice on Percy's the two dollar pizza looked so much better than the one dollar UA knows the best spots !❤
I love that place!
used to seeing you around jersey city was cool to catch you recording at the park right by my work !
Really appreciate you saying hi! Sorry if I was a bit distracted eating my bagel at the time. You saw me during the early JC days of the channel?
Perfect well done pizza
The pizza was tasty!

It’s so good to see NYC is so multicultural. A woman singing Chinese opera in the Park👍👍👍👍!
Yeah it can be cool how diverse the place is!
Pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner would be my choice lol.

Percys pizza looked like the best bang for your buck.
Absolutely. Very tasty!
Well done brother
Thanks!
That 2 dollar pizza is real, a real deal, and would be gourmet in many, if not most, places in the world.
I agree. It would be considered excellent in most cities outside NYC
No sales tax or drink?
They don't charge tax at these places, or it's built into the price. I had a water bottle
This dumplings are delicious n cheap. I got 4 pieces for only $2.
Good to know. I’m here visiting from Hawaii and just rationalize the food prices here is like being in Waikiki. I think there’s a Costco in Brooklyn and that would mean a hot dog and drink for less than $2. 😉
@MarkFromHawaii food prices REALLY ARE like waikiki all over the USA not just brooklyn
Yeah even fast food prices are higher in NYC... Chipotle is like $14 now!
Is there no tax in New York!
Good Thing about Percy is that their mushroom pizza is also 2 bucks and the amount of mushroom is massive... Super decent deal for mushroom pizza lover
Do they charge tax for food in New York City? You didn't drink anything?
Since he goes to Parks to eat I guess he drinks from a fountain.
@@alebroker7587 lol , probably a water bottle

Fried Dumpling, down the street, used to do 5 for $1.25 - I think it's still pretty similar in price
Thanks for the rec!
the dumplings seemed like the best deal... it's the only one with meat in it, the others just bread with diary
The dumplings were solid for sure. The pizza though I definitely recommend
Dumb question, but was sales tax not charged?
New York has both amazing bagels and terrible bagels. That one was maybe not the worst, but it looked like it was on the lower side.
Hi/small and good steak by medium price(40$)is well
i lived on 50$ an entire week in london. courtesy of tesco
Cha-Ching with Royals tomorrow. KC going to win back to back
nothing to drink no coffee or soda ?
I had a water bottle
Actually, the best quality slices won't crack in half like that. $2 sounds just about right for that pizza.
You get what you pay for to some extent, but I like crunchy crusts!

Meanwhile, dude spent $10 taking subway…
Meanwhile you’re still sitting on your couch and wasting air.
Ngl that bagel looks stale
It wasn't stale, but it was an average bagel. Below average by NYC standards
I could starve in nyc. Here in norcal bagels aren't food plus I am anti street food.
🔥
Thanks for watching!
he forgot the $2.75 subway for each way.
I though the same but then again he said it was 10 bucks eating budget. If you include transportation thats impossible.
Are there not monthly passes or anything for people that live there?
@@MackeyDeeez yes there is something similar to the Oyster Card in London
@@alebroker7587 Oh good. That would be terrible if you had to pay every time like we've done anytime I've visited NYC

Dang, I hope you had something off camera to wash that bagel down with…
If you are broke, where is the money for the subway ride? In addition, nothing to drink?
Hop the turnstile, drink from a water fountain at any park.
I had a water bottle. And the $10 was only the eating budget so it didn't include the subway
