Awesome work! I just dealt with my first RF Hub last week on a 2019 Ram 1500. Took me a few hours to figure it out. Had to ask for more time since the seats needes to be removed to access the hub. RF Hub had corrosion in it!
Some of them you can hold the button to get them to crank. Neighbor to my shop had a push start kia. His battery was dead and it didnt start. He borrowed the battery charger and came down after and said it still wouldnt start. Took me about an hour to figure it all out being I never seen that before. When he tried to start it the first time it used all the vacuum in the booster. So once he charged the battery the hard brake pedal was not allowing the brake pedal to travel enough to trigger the switch
Man! It’s so crazy I found this video! I’ve been having a similar issue with slightly more complex electrical malfunctions so I have been searching for months on forums and UA-cam and randomly come across this and I’ve never seen anyone point out the hub under that back panel as a place to check. And to top it all off I realized when watch this that I knew you lol! You worked at Wild Bills when I worked there briefly with Ethan when I was like 17!! Dude, I’m checking this tomorrow and I swear if this fixes my problem I will buy you lunch or bring freaking donuts or something lol. If it doesn’t I might need to bring it to you for diagnostic work.
Nice video and great find. Usually the loose nut sits behind the wheel in a Jeep. This looks like an auction car and or repo. Someone might have sabotaged the car. I hauled a lot of repos out of Alaska to Washington and you wouldn’t believe what people do to cars.
logical approach and knowledge of a system applied there . i have been watching your channel to long when i saw that scan data i was like oooo look at the stuff offline 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The one thing I regret not having on my Autel is topology. Regarding that nut, it might be wise to use a lock washer or maybe locktite, it looks like it might have spun itself off with vibration....
Great strategy, Jake! it almost looked too easy 🙂 I was expecting some sort of intermittent connection - finding it is always the problem 🙂 Quick interesting video!
I have a 2017 grand cherokee that has been dropping voltage and stalling out. We replaced the alternator and it won't start. I'm about to look for every ground on that thing and make sure they are tight.
Bro, we would love to see the POST SCAN RESULTS, there were many modules not working, many codes that seemed related. I agree that the Start Button was a great starting point with no COMM from the RFH but as for me, I like to see the same test that led us to the repair reran at the end, I also want to be sure of the Module count on each vehicle if the Tech will also help us out with that info, cheers, love all your videos and would appreciate the little extra info.
It it ironic that if you tested the power and ground on the RFA connector with a Power Probe or that probe that they gave you, the ground would have tested good, even though it's weak and barely hanging on. You need a strong incandescent test light that puts a good load on the circuit, to stress test the ground. That new probe would have tested the ground as bad if you had used the load function. Lessons learned.
Growing up I always went to my uncle’s body shop and one day he had a new Cadillac there he said the dealer sent it to him to find a noise we went for a ride and every time we tuned you heard a tapping in the back so we pulled out the seat and went again this time I climbed in the back to listen and look I found the noise it was a washer and a nut tied on fishing line a note was Rolex and taped on the line it said I hope it costs you a fortune to find this
Hey, I have tried everything and nothingworking. My jeep is doing exactly the same thing. What else could it possibly be? My push button is not getting no power. My keys will not won't please help.
I wouldn't say "sometimes it's that easy". I big portion of how easy it looked has to do with your experience. Just looking at topology you were able to narrow down an hours worth of time. Just pointing out how much experience plays into being efficient at diagnostics. As well as knowledge. Which in part cones from experience.
hello I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 2016 . my stop/start system today just stop 5min from home . stick where it say D N etc so the D was blinking its took about 3mins for the car to start again then when it did it was like rumbling for few seconds then i pulled over the car the stop/start come on screen but it was yellow with an ! . do I need to take to a shop or could I fix myself ? and what do u think the problem maybe? help please and thanks
Hi. Im one of your followers from Ethiopia. Im a mechanic and couldnt get any data on most cars but there is one issue on a 2006 Yaris( i3 1kr engine with cvt). The car starts good and sounds good but has almost no power at low rpm. I checked almost everything but couldnt find the issue. But one thing i found odd was the ignition advance becomes negative when trying to move uphill from stopped state. If the car start moving power comes back. Chhecked for knock sensor, ECU, Transmission, Fuel system, vacuum... . i tried everything but I couldnt identify the cause of retarded timing. Please help
Same problem on my 2019. Pulled fuses, checked batteries, pulled panel/checked ground on RF module. It was tight. Still no lights on the start button. Any ideas
Jake you deserve to get an easy fix once in awhile. Hope the rest of your day went that easy. Have a good one. 👍
This isn't easy for others but for you it was easy because you work smart. Very nice procedure
It really just goes to show how important grounds being clean and tight are. Good find. Great video 👍🏻
You make it look easy 👍
Nothing like a good visual inspection 🎉
RIGHT ON ! SOMETIMES IT IS THAT EASY .THESE ARE THE ONES YOU REALLY ENJOY

It was recently bought from auction yes
Its easy when you have to correct knowledge. Thanks for sharing as always your videos help a lot!
Easy for you! I would have changed the Engine Gearbox the Chassis then finally scrape the paint off the bodywork. You nailed it.😃👍
4:15 Probably 800 mA load!? Because there i saw some wire resistor.
Good video and diagnosis! Wondering what else was left loose or missing from whatever work was done back there.

Great way to start the day.
Good find amigo
Never thought to load a fuse when I test them.. that’s really good. I would’ve liked to have seen that in your last video with that fuse issue.
The one on TikTok?
Great video Jake.
Car must have been built on a Friday after lunch….
😂😂True, l was there
By Boeing
Wet lunch!
I think there’s a few lines about jeeps in general there but I’ll choose my audience and let them slide. 😜

Someone had to of taken it off because it was started back cross threads
Thanks very much for this video. I’ll get on mine tomorrow.
Well done 👍

Hope u can get the link for test light it's cool tester
Yeah I’ll add it to the Amazon when I get time and actually remember lol. There is some other things I need to add as well
Thanks ! Valuable information and wonderfully taught !
Thanks mate . 👊🏼🔥
Love these detailed videos 👍🏻👊🏻
I have the same problem I’ll try to do that tomorrow to see if it’s works for me
My car having the same issue will be checking it out tomar morning
I have a 2017 grand cherokee that has been dropping voltage and stalling out. We replaced the alternator and it won't start. I'm about to look for every ground on that thing and make sure they are tight.
This can also be a loose connection to the fuse box under the hood as well.
Did you find out the issue I have a 2012 same issue
Grasias
Loadpro did same thing

Wow, it was either a test for you, or a Monday morning or Friday afternoon build...
🤣🤣🤣 that was quick. 👊

Good video. Where did you get the test light from ??
Amazon
Thank you
It's nice not to hv one totally messed up right Jake
quick question when they weren't able to start the jeep were they able to lock or unlock the doors with the fob or was it just the no start issue
I’m not sure honestly.
takem when you can getem, nice get the easy ones
👍👍

It needs professionally diagnosed. There is so many things that could potentially cause these same symptoms.

I would definitely recommend taking it to a quality shop to have it diagnosed. Several things could cause those symptoms.
I could see that turning into a giant rabbit hole for most. Not Jake tho! Not even a challenge!!
👍👍😊😊
Would it be in the same location on the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6l 4x4
I have no idea. I would need to look at service information.
Pls help me I would hate to change the starter which is a pain to replace I don't have that expensive tool
It has to be topology scanner to read the codes cause my it doesn't allows me 500 Launch scanner
@@arielcastro34 I would suggest taking it to a professional that has the tools and knowledge to diagnose your concern.
I would have replaced the starter then the ECM BCM FUSE BOX and then called a wrecker truck to take it to you 😅
They must have been having problems all along, or someone was back there and did some shoddy work
Where part of the car did he went lastly
For the RF Hub?
Yup! The wonderful world of electronics. Better to have a key going into an ignition switch than this push button lunacy!
Somebody should tell Stellantis about this thing called nyloc nut fasteners--or maybe locktite--or chewing gum?

The most common thing to retard ignition timing is Knock so see if you have a data pid from the knock sensors
@@autodiagyt what should i expect looking at the live data?
Same problem on my 2019. Pulled fuses, checked batteries, pulled panel/checked ground on RF module. It was tight. Still no lights on the start button. Any ideas
Not without a scan tool that can read the live data from the RF hub
Unless I come across something better, it's either THAT TopDon, or an x431 proS, that I'm going to get, this Spring.... Incredible tools!
Topdon doesn't have autoathu for dodge, x431 has it.
