I use to help my grandmother make this desert as a child.. 🥰 I am 31 years old now & I just want to thank you for this recipe Bc I just want to make this for her now 🥰
FYI : Cendol is came from java island because the oldest script of cendol is on the book called Kakawin Khresnayana by mpu triguna on 14 CE as Javanese food for ceremony. I don't know how this food spread all over southeast Asia but I love that cendol becomes southeast asian heritage Btw, in Javanese culture this typically food has three different version and name 1. Cendol (made with any starch like mungbean starch, sagoo, tapioca, cornstarch, Little bit chewy) 2. Dhawet (made with Rice flour so the texture is smoother like Malaysian or Singaporean version) 3. Godher (made with fresh seaweed combine with tapioca, It is really chewy like thai version) So the real name of this food is DAWET, Cendol actually is nickname of dawet that has little bit kind of jelly chewy texture (The word Cendol is came from Javanese "jendol" mean swollen). Some people make Cendol dawet or dawet goder by mixing two types of flour together. This food has three color green, pink, or black. We usually serve this with ice block, Coconut milk, palm sugar pandan syrup, jackfruit, and fermented sticky rice

Its just so good! Hmong food is so good in general! So thank you for your videos. I hope you can make more videos like ones that I've seen.
Hello from Japan🇯🇵 I came from Pai’s kitchen. I’ve never come across Hmong food. So interesting to watch your channel🙌 I like to tell cultural food to others, too sometimes it’s difficult though. I can see that you really enjoy cooking and telling about Hmong food and culture☺️
OMGosh! This is the dessert I've been craving for since I tried it from a Siem Reap street vendor many, many yrs ago. It was so authentic...been wondering what it was. Now I know it's cendol.
So Tomas, do you live in the U.S. or in Mexico? If you're in Mexico, I would be surprised if there are Asians in Mexico. It's cool that you like to try different foods. There are many Mexican foods I would like to try too. We have a lot of similarities when it comes to the foods we eat. 🙂
So original and beautiful looking desert. Thank you very much for sharing with us this recipe. Only I would use much less sugar or some other sweetener.
I went to my local Asian store and I just spend more than an hour getting all the ingredients and also get a lot new fruits that I wanna try for the first time!!!
We make cendol with natural food coloring of butterflypea flower. It becomes blue cendol. We plant the blue flower and produce blue tea for drink. Thank you to promote cendol. We use arrowroot flour for the ingredients. Salam from Majenang Indonesia.
In my home town, we do not use pandan leaves to make the cendol dough green, we use suji leaves instead. Physically suji leaves are very similar to pandan leaves but less aromatic. It gives thicker green color as well.
Coconut syrup @1:10
Cendol @4:10
Cook/Color Tapioca Pearls @ 8:20
