After beating stage 4 cancer I decided to crochet an Afghan for everyone I'm special to as something to remember me by, fully expecting for the cancer to come back. It's been 4 years now and it took me a good 18 months of physical therapy and healing before I even picked up a crochet hook again. In the first year I made one, for my dad. The second year the willow square Afghan for my sister in law. This year, it's end of July and I'm wrapping up my 4th blanket just this year. 2 for friends, one for aunt/uncle, one for sister. My brother is next and then I finally want to start working on something for my husband and I. I've decided on this. It's absolutely beautiful and cant wait to get started. Hopefully by Christmas! Thank you.
You are an amazing woman Rachel! At the time of your greatest need you are thinking of others and seeking to serve them. So thankful that you've been given these years to be with your loved ones. Praying for complete healing for you now!
I am with you, I too am fighting stage 4 stomach cancer and I also am fully expecting it to come back. This pattern has made me pick up my crochet hook again. I will pray for you. If

Давно хотела такой связать! Спасибо за вашу великолепную работу!❤️
This is going to be a beautiful engagement/Xmas gift for my sister in law! So happy I found your account!!! This is stunningggggg😍
Hi Cassie. Just wondering if you have already made this and what size hook did you use? It states in the description size 5.5mm but in video she says 5mm. Thanks
I really like how you do your work slowly and very clear. Keep up what you are doing. It’s great!👍👍
I'm so glad I found you, My daughter and I are going to do this blanket as a project together, I can't wait to start!!
I've done the first rows and it already looks gorgeous 💜 I'm going to make this into a wall hanger 💟
How did you get past the woven stitch section? I got so so lost around the 40 min mark
@@danabare7061 that's where I lose it too. I've watched over and over again and she skips the corner and goes right to the join at the end of the round. I'm having to guess and not understanding.☹️
I too am completely lost at the woven section
Bonnie made a magnificent throw called "Colorful Cables Throw" and each motif is very well explained in her tutorials. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/play/PLoIugZBYOS0U-uxhHgz2InUAvkDnyTbD4.html
Gorgeous! Will have to make my daughter one of these. She will love it. She really embraces her partial Irish heritage.
I was just thinking the same thing lol My daughter is the same :) and she has a 1 1/2 year old little girl with red hair. My grandbaby is adorable with red hair!!!
Bonny you have a beautiful calm spirit and you are a wonderful tutor. I will start this project this week and I excited. Thank you Bonnie
Absolutely magnificent. I really love your crochet projects
Thank you so much for this video! I miscalculated on the amount of yarn i had (my fault entirely) and ended up tying off after the second cable cross and its still absolutely beautiful. Thank you again for taking the time to create this video.
Have you finished this beautiful blanket? May I ask, what are the measurements?
I've been looking for a pattern for my new living room set. I think I've found it! Now to plan colors. Really beautiful blanket.
I have one other big project currently on my list... but I can't wait to try this after I wrap the other project up. It's absolutely beautiful.
This is such a beautiful pattern. I'm definitely going to check into the pattern instruction you mentioned. Thanks so much for making this tutorial.

That is so georgeus and elegant(I looove the cable stitch)🌉
You are absolutely amazing! I’m a newbie and you explain everything so well that I’m able to do stitches I never thought I could do...thank you!
Love this pattern! It’s been a labor of love (considering I just learned to crotchet) but I am very impressed at how beautiful the pattern is.
Im a new starter to crochet, learnt during lockdown. I'm doing this bcos it's so gorgeous I've gotta have it. I'm on row 30 the knurl stitch. Im struggling but persevering. Thank you Bonnie from the UK you're a generous woman sharing these lovely projects, it's such a blessing. I love crochet, its a great stress buster doing something creative.
You can do it.
@@wendysulewski3846 thanks Wendy I'm in row 50 and still going strong...
REALLY EASY TO FOLLOW!! Great instructions. VERY DETAILED.
Thank you for showing us how to make this stunning throw. It's a fabulous piece of work
Thank you Rosemary!
I just found your channel today and fell in love with this project. I live 85 mikes from the nearest yarn store plus we are snowed in this week...so, I went to my stash. I am using a variegated yarn (pink, white, gray) with short repeats. Believe it or not, it is actually turning out very nice. In conclusion, I would say: dont be afraid to go a little wild with your colors. Its a great pattern! Thank you!
I’m using a striped yarn… probably not purfect 🐈 but I love it…. And that’s all that matters. 😊don’t like it, no touchy lol
Wow, that is gorgeous! I'm definitely making this one!
Thank you so much for sharing this
My pleasure Amanda! Enjoy!
It's gorgeous! Can't wait to try it.
Love this!!! You are a wonderful teacher and I think your videos are clear and easy to follow! Thank you for sharing!
Arlene Bechtold thank you!😊❤️
I found stitch markers in the corners very helpful. Lovely pattern.
Great idea Dawn!
Me too!! I "stitch marker" every thing! Lol
It's a stunning blanket Bonnie, love it.
Hello dear friend, I have encountered a problem for rows 16 to 25, the number of bases does not reach 60 at the end, do we have to stitches in even rows at the beginning of each side, after the first hdc of the previous row?
Such a beautiful blanket that's packed w lots of different stitches! Hoping to give this a try once I finish another project.
I love your tutorial! I just started and you explain stitches I have never been able to grasp so I totally understand! Thank you so much!! 🥰
Beautuful! I'm going to begin this project in a few days. Thank you 🙂
Beautiful. I have just enough yarn in a light grey to start this gorgeous throw tomorrow morning. Thank you for another lovely project. Kind regards from Australia
Are there other videos to complete this? So pretty.

Oh my goodness, this is *GORGEOUS* !!!!
I love your tutorials thank you for sharing have a glorious day 🙏🏼
What an excellent tutorial and gorgeous blanket! After the first ridge row, I found it difficult to find the ch2 space for the following row (I'm using a "fluffy" yarn). But I put in stitch markers in the ch2 spaces for the next ridge row and that made all the difference. Thank you!
Great idea Andrea!
I’m about to crochet this! I love this design.
Gorgeous pattern and crocheted. It looks so beautiful.
Bonnie this is beautiful. I am not an advanced crocheter, but with you gentle instruction, I have confidence to try. Can not wait to get the yarn to start. THANK YOU
beautiful!! Looks like a 5 wt. after Christmas, this is for me,
Hi love this blanket On rounds 17 ,18 I was very confused on the turning could not fingering it out so I substituted another two st pattern crossing my fingers it will work thanks for the tutorial❤️
This looks like a challenge but it is truly remarkable and beautiful 🧶❤
I love the Mandela throw this will be my next project I can't hardly wait to begin. Thank you Bonnie for sharing
My pleasure Mary!😊❤️
Such a beautiful blanket!! I’m still working on getting a simple waffle pattern down. Ill get to do this blanket one day. ONE DAY 😞
Bonnie, this is so beautiful!! I will definitely make this afghan. I need to buy more yarn. This is an excellent excuse to buy more yarn. LOL. 😀
Glad to provide another excuse for that yarn Jo!
No need for excuses... yarn is beautiful.
This is beautiful, I can't wait, I want to make for my bed. Thank U for sharing . 💓
New to your channel.love how you show the rows.and times.i love your work.i want to make everything.been crocheting for over 40 years.
Just finished this part and I’m waiting for the second one. The only issue I had was stitch count at the woven stitches.
baykan you are fast! The next video will be released this coming Monday. 😊❤️
I'm finished to and had the same problem in the woven stiches. I have a few more rugs of your to make for Christmas so I will wait till Monday for part 2.
I’m have difficulties with rnd 9 too. I watched the vid to make sense of the pattern directions and Bonnie edited the part out whether we go in the prev. Corner or go around with the single crochet. My stitches count on row 8 are correct but row 9 is not. I slept on it and thought I had it. Lol. I will try previous corner before.... or I will fudge stitches. Lol
I did it!!! Yay!
Congrats 🥳
I noted the same thing, there is a video glitch. See other commenter below. If toy forward ahead to the ridge row 13 and 14 - this is the correct instructions. Good luck.
I bought your Celtic Mandala Book and so glad you have these videos! Very easy to follow and I love the results! Starting my second one!
So glad you like this one Julie!
Awesome pattern 👏 Absolutely beautiful.
Round 9 is so confusing, I feel like I am missing something but I watched it 5 times and it still doesn't make sense.
Here's a stitch video when working this stitch in straight rows. Perhaps this will be somewhat helpful in understanding how this stitch works: ua-cam.com/video/knUe9Yw1uEs/v-deo.html
Same here. Followed the video and watched that part a million times and somehow it looks like the ridge is on the wrong side.
I’m currently doing this pattern and understand how this can be a confusing round because it’s difficult to see the end/beginning....
I suggest marking your first stitch before you begin the round with a marker. It’ll be the one you slipped right before making the single and two chains and single in the corner....
So once you make your way back to that corner, it won’t appear so strange, and you’ll be able to find your last stitch to slip.
You’ll have to repeat this round on 13.
Maybe the written pattern would help make the connection...I love learning new stitches
I'm the same, and I feel like that round just threw out my stitch count and now I have extra stitches
I love this blanket!! I’ve got a bunch of size 5 yarn that I’d like to use up. Would that be too bulky for this pattern?
I don't think so. Your dimensions will be slightly larger.
I am so thankful. Haven’t successfully crocheted in years .. but your clear direction make me confident enough to give this a try.
Bonnie, I am having great fun crocheting my first mandala with you.
I love this throw, and it's been a really fun project to get into! However, I am a little bit stuck on round 17 in terms on how to do the corners as the video just cuts to the end of the round. I was wondering if you can clarify how to do the corners (as well as give the stitch count for the round). This would be really helpful, especially as rounds 16 and 17 are the basis for the next 8 rounds of the woven stitch section. Hope you can help :)
lullabean there are 20 woven stitches not including corner stitches per side. So that’s 80 woven stitches and 8 corner stitches for entire round. The written pattern has stitch count. At the corner your last woven stitch is in the HDC of last round corner before the chain 2. Hope this helps!
@@zazah2008 Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Almost nearing the end of the woven stitch section:)
lullabean we are neck and neck then! I’m half way through this section.
@@zazah2008 Good luck with the rest of the project:)
Just wondering for corners in Round 17 since the video cut off and continued to the end of the round where you sl st at 40:29 😧... should we Ch 2, HDC [ in the Ch2 corner] Ch 2, HDC (all in the ch2 corner) skip a stitch Woven Stitch in the next and continue pattern...Is this correct?
How many balls of yarn went into this project?
So that I can buy enough yarn to make the above.
soumini k I used 13 skeins if the yarn listed in the video. Be careful to purchase enough yardage for the yarn you select as the number of yards per skein may vary.
Yes,good question...thanks😃
I'm definitely going to make this beautiful throw. Bonnie as always you produce fabulous items, you are an inspiration to me. Thanks so much 💓🧶
Thank you Ann! I so appreciate your kind comment.
Just started it last night, spir of the moment, and can't put it down. I can't wait to show it off once it's done 🥰
This is so beautiful but I'm having some trouble with the woven stitch!! Have had to frog so many rounds of my work, been stuck on that section for a few days now as I keep doing things wrong and realising too late... I am painstakingly having to refer back to this video every time I start a new round and watch at 0.5x speed to see how you do it as this is what I'm having the most trouble with 😫 I know the end result will be so worth it though!!
I also wanted to ask, around the 40:20 mark during round 3 of woven stitch you say you will show us how to do the corner but then it just skips to the end of the row?
Me too.....gosh I thought I was crazy.
The I was ok til the end of row 17.....she says shes going take you to the corner, but then the video skips straight to the end of the round and continues to explain that 18-25 are just repeats of 16 & 17...... but that's not working out right for me.
She says count is of the utmost important but a count is given so I have no idea if I have the right count and I am so so confused because 16 & 17 start out differently (one starts the row with a half double and the other starts the row with a woven stitch.....it alternates)
I dont know what I'm doing wrong but that woven part is just messing me all up....ive frogged 4 times.
I'm about to give up
I'm a pretty advanced crocheter and even as I go back to each step of the video it's not making sense.
Does anyone know if there is a pattern which could be printed for this blanket? I’m finding the woven stitch tricky too.
@@helenhoughton7031 I purchased the pattern as I was confused, but the pattern is no help, it is written in paragraph style and does not clear up my questions. The term "turn" is used both for turning the entire work over and then on the video used for turning a corner. ?? I have frogged this multiple times and now have watched the video and looked at the pattern to rewrite it step by step for myself . I have crocheted for years and this is confusing to me
@@danabare7061 I have had the same issues, the term turn is used on the video for turning corner and on pattern for turning work over, not clear , should state Each Corner do hdc etc and then End corner do hdc etc, and First corner Only. to clarify where and what.
Bonnie I don’t know about others but would help me to know what time each row starts in the video in the description because if I come back to it I then have to try and recall where I left off but thanks it’s a lovely project
If I have to take a break I always jot down the time stamp of where I stopped
Im starting to make this beautiful throw, got a long way to go. I'm a sure, its going to be beautiful when i finish . Thnx so much, for taking the time show how to make this.
💜💜💁💜💜
I just LOVE your Celtic Projects.. & yup.. after makin da others.. I gonna crochet this Beauty too.. Thnx Bonnie ...
🌹😘
I'm having the hardest time trying to follow your instructions, I've bought the pattern and tried reading that but it wasn't much help. I think there may be some editing errors in the tutorial. I'm so disappointed this is such a beautiful blanket but I think I may have to give up on it after about a month of taking apart and reworking it. I'm so sad.
Marne Rice you can always contact me at bonniebay@me.com with specific questions and photos of the problem areas.
I am having difficulty with your wording at 17:22 in the video. You say sc along to the next corner but when the video comes back on you say at the end of the round. So which is it?? Love this by the way.
@@norriscstepd35 I'm stuck in the same spot. I've done it and pulled it out and redone it several times and I'm confused as well...
@@BonnieBayCrochet I purchased the pdf and still found the woven stitch section confusing . As I see, have many others. Would it not make more sense to clarify this by upgrading the video or the PDF. You use the term "turn" on the video to round a corner and then on the PDF , i think it means turn the work over. Counts would be helpful before the round , and using terms like First corner or The only corner, or each corner or the End corner more frequently on the video. I was surprised as I have been crocheting and watching videos and patterns with not too much trouble. I suppose when you are so advanced as you are it is more difficult to picture what the pitfalls for others could be. Lovely pattern, hope to get past this woven section and that I can complete a nice afghan.
@@alicetelle2052 This is an intermediate level design and I understand the the woven stitch can be difficult. I do have many supplemental stitch videos on the channel here (includes the woven stitch): ua-cam.com/play/PLoIugZBYOS0WifcAU6rS7JDtaXV7-BD6E.html.
I am so confused. You keep talking about stitch count but do not give it very often. A lovely project but you are too quick and don’t show stitches as they happen
I had the same issue, and I have been crocheting for a couple decades. I purchased the pattern, I think 6$... and it was worth it not only for her skill but for clarification on stitch counts. My issue is that extra stitch on the side of the corner joins look like a mess. My corner all along one side looks messy cause of that extra chain one or chain two in the corner. I also struggle with finding the begin chain so I use markers and count backwards from the next corner to the one I'm working on to help me locate the starting chain spot. But I do agree that it isn't always very clear. I have spent so many ways hours trying to figure out stitch placement on rows 17-28 that I have been ultimately frustrated.
The woven stitch, had to frog that section 2x
@karen-withak7745 and @fionaevans6865 Just bought the pattern after giving myself a headache going over and over the woven stitch section. I just can’t get the corners right for the life of me. Hopefully I can get it straightened out with the pattern.
@christalrosbach1243 as I have continued on, my "messy" corners are not really visible because your eye is drawn from the middle then outwards when looking at it. Look on the pattern to figure out how many you need on a side and remember that your stitch count includes the corner hdc...just not the chain 2. ..and count backwards from next corner to the one your at (accounting for the corner stitches too) so you can figure out your starting placement stitch. Hope that makes sense and can help you. I am loving how it is turning out
Thanks so much for the advice!
Oh my word, what a super stunning design. I'll definitely like the printed version too.
The link is in the video description Carol-Ann!
that is beautiful. I have crocheted a long time and know the basic stitches, but never dreamed you could make something like this in crochet. I'm going to give it a try.
