This is a beautiful blanket! I have the written instructions but I am a visual learner, so having you show me how to do some stitches is a huge help.

Just finished and all I can say is wow! This was my first time ever crotcheting and it took me seven months of starting over about 20 times. But, the beauty of this pattern was my sole motivation to keep going. In a way, this project was my COVID therapy and I had at least three meltdown episodes! But the focus that I put to finishing this beautiful blanket helped me get through the lonliness of the pandemic and gave me time for introspection and self love, thank you Bonnie!!

Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial! I started to work on this throw a week ago, and I'm doing round 38 already! Can't wait to work on this beautiful piece of art! (I'm doing it in red - simply stunning!!!) For those who have difficulties following the instructions (@AG): all you need is a little patience, and all you need to do is always count your stitches at the end of every single row, and you're doing fine!! Even I as a native German, living in Germany, am perfectly capable of following the instructions. The easygoing manner of the instructions given is kind of relaxing to me while I'm working. So thanks again, Bonnie Barker, for sharing your skills with us! :-)

I always follow the pattern exactly the first time. On this pattern, I would recommend going up a hook size for the front ridges because slip stitches tend to tighten guage; and adjusting the joining corners with an hdc join and doing half that corner before completing the round, then completing it before the hdc join. It helps to eliminate the bulk in that corner. Almost done with #1. I'll let you know how my changes work out for #2.

I just did ridges as sc's on bothe sides. Worked fine! Slip st just ridiculous to work with and hardly shows up at all.

@@BonnieBayCrochet I found your tutorial for cable stitch. I watch from my iPad but think I need to put on my TV. I get the 3 chains turning but can’t quite get where you slip stitch.... I tried making it after watching while watching...please understand that I was an expert.... could read patterns, loved reading symbols and my IQ was over 145. I was a passenger in a car. I should be dead...they had to remove me with jaws of life... broke nearly every bone in my torso including a c2 fracture....now I can’t do anything. It is frustrating. I don’t ever think about what I lost and I am trying to look ahead and to development the new me. So right no I am a visual learner. I just wanted you to know I am so serious about completing one of your blankets. I have to try....sorry for blabbering on

Finished this blanket for a friend and I'm obsessed with it!!! The beginning was very frustrating and I frogged it too many times to count but I'm glad I stuck with it. Another great piece, thank you Bonnie!! *tip* I used the magic knot for the first time in this project and it's seamless to transition to the next skein and a huge relief at the end when you don't have to tie in any threads! 🙌

I am so glad you made this video! I bought the book with the pattern in it from Annie’s Crochet, and the it has so many mistakes that I was about to give up on Rd. 39! Now I’m encouraged to once again, frog a round and try again, but now I have YOU to help me through!!

I bought this pattern from Herrschner's and I'm so happy to see the pattern on video. I can work through it a lot quicker without having to undue rounds that don't make sense. I'm enjoying the pattern. I'm using a bulky yarn from Herschner's that is really soft and it is great to work through. It will turn out a lot bigger but I plan to place on top of my ivory king size quilt at home. Beautiful. Thank you for explaining on video.

Just finished this and am so proud of me!! My first ever throw and I think I did well. I realize I am a tight stitcher and need to work on that but overall this ended up beautiful and I could not have done it without such an amazing teacher. I learned so many new and complex stitches. Thank you for how meticulous you are with directions. I can’t say enough great things about your tutorial. I am onto try next Bonnie Bay creation... the Celtic cable throw.

I've finished it with a 4.25 mm hook and it measures 39x39 inches with 3 and half balls of Feels like Butta yarn (large balls)

Just finished the throw, what a challenge it was. I kept telling myself that I was going to compete it. Started over once and frogged it out so many times I couldn’t count. It’s beautiful. Yes, the outside rounds do take longer and require more yarn!
Yes it's more involved but the rounds are also getting bigger so it takes more time (and yarn like Bonnie said.)

Loved this throw being of Celtic it touches my heart. Have to say that you are the second person that I have been able to follow and understand how the stitches are done and explain as you go. I will try this throw but doing it as I watch these two tutorials again as I'm not a pattern reader and get totally confused when I start to read a pattern .

Came out beautifully. Thank you for the free video tutorial. My onky recommendation would be to verbally include the stitch count for each and every round. It was so wonderful to do, and I loved crocheting it! Stunning cabels and basket weave stitches. So much to ooooo and ahhhh over. A definate stunning addition to any room, or given as a gift (to only the very luckiest of friends)! ;)

My stitch count appears to be correct. Does the total include or exclude the corners.
ie round 36 i have 76 stitches including stitches included in the corners on each side but I only have enough to do 8 and a half cables.
I admit to being a good beginner.
Guess I rip it back and start again
@@susanlynch1465 this is the stitch count for Round 36: 76 sts per side, 304 sts total, 4 ch-2 corners. That last cable will be established by working the last bpdc around a hdc.

I’ve made a lot of baby blankets and a few layettes, sweaters, ponchos, shawls and hats. I started this one in a Red Heart Soft White yarn I had, but I just didn’t like the way the posts were turning out (I know how to do posts, not my first rodeo) so I sent away for the Premier yarn in the video. (It looks much softer than the Red Heart.) And as soon as I finish a baby blanket and an afghan for my Dad, I will start this one-and like the little engine that could, I think I can, I think I can.
Bonnie this is a GORGEOUS throw. I have over 40 years experience crocheting from the basics... hats, scarves, baby items, etc. to practically every type of blanket... mosaic, to Enterlac, Tunisian, C2C, graphgans and everything in between. But I have to admit the Celtic Weave is trying to beat me. I understand the stitches until I get to a corner and then I'm all thumbs, and I don't know which direction everything is going, how many to skip or not skip. I've watched the video over and over, even slowed it down and took notes. Same with the supplemental. The BPTC are stumping me. This is going to be a Christmas gift for our nephew and his family for their traditional Boston colonial. Please help, I don't want to let it win and just do a simple basket weave instead. Thanks! On first round of crossing cables, I started with the correct number of stitches, but at the end of the first side, I have 8 crossings and only one FPDC grouping to make the ninth. ??

Hi I love your crochets skills I have started this pattern but am using red heart super saver medium 4 and I have don’t up to the 3 plus 1dhc and so on but am having trouble because I don’t have the same numbers as you I had up to 64 sts each side and there is no increase I can see anyways my question is shall I do it on a size 6 mm uk size crochet hook as it’s looks so tight I look forward to hearing from you thanks Denise
First I have to say that I love all your patterns and have made most of them. I have a question. On the elongated rows when you repeat rows 37-40 on the video you said on right side the corners are 2 hdc ch 2, 2 hdc and on wrong side its 1 hdc ch 2, 1 hdc. Row 37&38 it is the same 1 hdc ch 2, 1 hdc. Which is correct?

I am making this throw now and I am really enjoying it, but because I want it bigger I want to add another cable and some more on the celtic cable. My problem is that when crocheting the first cable (rounds 43 to 46) the corner hdc count is different. On the 35th and 39th round you crochet 2 hdc, ch2, 2hdc in the corners, but then you say later that we have to do that everytime we are working with the front side facing. Is it really different, or do I understand wrong? (I am dutch so maybe I understand wrong) I want to add on that part 1 extra cable so that would mean that I have 6 more rounds.
When do we do 1 hdc and when 2 hdc in the corners on rounds 35 to 46 and further?
Hi, just wanted to thank you for the pattern...its beautiful. However, on round 38 where we do an hdc on center of cable is very confusing. I just figured it out after frogging several times. Probably need a little more explanation on where to place this stitch...I was placing it accidentally on the last cable.😂

Just use your favorite worsted/Aran weight yarn available there in your beautiful country Rojayel. I would pay more attention to the yardage. I used approximately 2639 yards for this throw.

I am totally loving this pattern. It is keeping me on my toes as the cabling and turning between rounds is new to me. However I believe I may have found a tiny mistake in round 36 of the written pattern. It says hdc in first stitch and 3 bphc around next 3sts TO LAST HDC a BEFORE NEXT CH2....FINE SO FAR ...BUT THEN IT SAYS HDC in Last HDC then work HDC ch2 HDC in corner, while the video shows 2 HDc before working the corner. I noticed when I went to work row 37 having just followed the written pattern, then the next row wasn’t falling in to place. ❤️
I have frogged rows 36 and 37 a total of 3 times now due to the error you pointed out. It seems the written pattern says one thing and the video says another. So frustrating. I’m about to ditch the entire project.
Well, I made it to row 41. If the instructions said the row was supposed to have x number of stitches and I had y, I just said hell with it and skipped or added what I needed in order to have x. Hardest pattern I’ve ever done and I’ve been crocheting for over 40 years with some very complicated mandala afghans under my belt. I sincerely appreciate the creation and sharing of this pattern and appreciate the time and effort that went into it, but I wish the written instructions had a stitch count for every row. I think what’s the most confusing is the constant turning of the piece, which means the loops to the right of a stitch on the previous row that you would normally insert your hook into for a stitch (if the piece is front facing) are now on the left of the stitch (if the piece is back facing).Figuring that out helped me a lot.

Is it normal for the last pattern of cross stitch to curl, I even switched to a bigger hook and loosened up my tension (even though I'm already a loose corcheter) ?
The round that discontinues this stitch should help with the curl, which is normal before working the last round. This design will require some blocking.

This is so beautiful , I hope you dont mind but I just wanted to see how a picot would look on those shells and it is so antique looking, I just love it ( I make 4 triple and on the 5th I make one with a picot, then make 4 more triple) on the corners I will be adding tassels ( making this for my mother in law as an heirloom blanket, I incorporated some 45 years old yarn that was her mother's yarn , it was from a dead brand called Kitten Spun) thank you so much for this patter. I just bought the digital pattern book this was in ❣

How would I go about adding a few more rounds to make it bigger?
You should be able to continue with the Celtic Weave for a few more rows. Just know that this will take significantly more yarn with each round.

I love this throw. Is it possible to make it bigger than the measurements on the written pattern? If so what round would i start from again?
If you wish to make this bigger, I would start in the same manner, but add additional rounds of the wider sections as you desire.
So, what round would you recommend I start at again to make it bigger?

Not sure if I've majorly blundered or if I'm just not seeing something accurately. On round 37 (the first cable-crossing round), I've got nine crosses. Then I've got three leftover fpdcs at the end. Should I skip those? Or should I have come out even and been able to use them all? I'm going to keep watching (note to self: I'm at 11:45) to see if it becomes any clearer...
Deeeeeefinitely my blunder! I did some recounting, and I had managed to cram in extra stitches on just that one side. So I've frogged back to round 34 (oh the agony! 😆) and will repair from there.

This is a beautiful throw! I must admit, it was challenging for me. I found it best to work with both the video (for hands on demonstration) and the written pattern (for stitch counts). I have a question though, my border is curling in, and will not lay flat. Is this due to my tension being too tight or did I do something else wrong? What is the best way to correct it?

What am I doing wrong? I count 20 dc in the ring, then I start next round and end up with 40 stiches. 6 stitches in the corner 4 per side that's 10 x 4 = 40 HOw are you getting 32 stitches on Row 2? I bought the pattern and watch the video and still get 40 stitches! Help please?
Can you please tell me the dimensions on this? My daughters friend wants me to make her something for her bed but it is a queen size. And is it possible to change colors every few rows she wants a variety of colors. If it does not work I sure will be making this for me anyways.Thank you so much.
I absolutely love this throw. Although, I have a question. On round 42, how did you go from 92 to 96 stitches on each side? What am I doing wrong, because I'm not getting that count.
