- There are a few methods you can use to transfer your iOS (Apple) photos, videos and multimedia to a PC with Windows OS. In this week's Tech Tip we use a USB cable to transfer your photos and videos from an iOS device to a Microsoft Windows computer. This is a perfect method for when cloud services are unavailable or you don't have any other wireless means to transfer your photos or videos. Your video was a tremendous help. I have about 4,000 pictures and videos to transfer. After your advise on how to update drivers I am on my way. Praying they all transfer as I have the cloud but do not know what the heck it is other than always full!

How can I access to files folder using same method you did? I have adapter to connect to PC but I cannot get into files folder that I want to transfer files to my PC.
The new apple phone has a special usb that does not fit in computer, what attachement (adapter) i need to buy

I did this and it worked but now when I go to sync my itunes with phone, the sync button is greyed out and it must have something to do with this process. any suggestions please

What happen if it said "a device attached to the system is not functioning"? Is it because of my cable or my iPhone?
I am going to try your method, I have a little over 9,000 pics on my phone 😱.. Bought a 125 flash drive. ... instructions so small it was stupid ! As soon as I plugged it in it automatically uploaded my info. But when I plugged it into the computer THEN it said it needed my Apple ID . So I don’t know how to back things off the drive to start again 😱 and thought about the charging cord and found you thankfully !!!!!

I am attempting the above process with W11 and i-Phon 12. It is working intermittently. At the momnent the i-phon dings when hooked up to computer, but the i-phon does not show on the computer? I unhook and restart computer, sometimes several times and the Apple i-phon shows up on the computer..... Then I can open it and the Storage,.......... But no DCIM shows up ???? That is where I am at right now. Getting late and I have been Puttzing with this for ab 3-4 hrs !!
Anyone have any possible solutions to this? It all sounds so easy on the net, but when I attempt it there are always Bugs !

You can also right click and drag and a sup menu will pop up and you can copy there too but also move files and other options

How can I transfer from laptop to iPad
Up until you get to the part where the icon appears on bottom right corner re: iphone that is my problem. My iphone4 is not registering on my computer to enable me to get to internal storage, then to DCIM then to Photos. What to do?
Looks like you got it figured out.
When I plug in the USB and my phone, that menu does not pop up on my phone. You said something about and charge cord being different from a transfer cord??
Correct, some cables can ONLY charge a phone and not all are data transfer capable. Typically the one that comes with the phone is both, but ones you get from say a gas station may not be.

Not much changes with the USB method.
I’ve done this once but all of my photos have no date stamp, so all the photos got put in random order. Is there a way to transfer photos using this method without the pictures getting put in random order?

You will want to find out where they are stored, then navigate on the machine to that folder.
Why after transferring couple of photos it says your device is unreachable.

Thanks for the video an additional tips. I run into an issue while following the instructions. Up to six months ago I used to use the transfer option from window, and then it stop working. Runnig out of space in my cell so I found this manual process, which worked fine until I start getting a window message "Error Moving File or Folder - A device attached to the system is not functioning" Any idea what is going on? Is it Windows10 or is ti the iOS that is having issues.

I am using an USB cord to transfer photos from iphone to pc. My photo box pops up and says 'Something went wrong' 'your photos may not have transfered.' I have tried rebooting everything and nothing is working. Also, for some reason photos are no longer going to icloud, storage is available and I've made no changes to the settings to cause this. Any help?

The video formats that may be giving you issues are most likely in .mov format. Windows stopped supporting quick-time which is what plays the mov file type. You can install iTunes and see if you have better results.
I have a curious question; I was forced into retirement and have not had a cell since 2008. Yep, company supplied but in 2020, my son sent me an iPhone 6. Great. You are right about gas station cable, they don’t have they electronics in the cable ends for bi-direction serial date, over current protection, all kinds of data built into both ends.
I have working phone, but a Dell Latitude D620. With a new HP printer that uses wireless via the modum. I can by pass it by plugging I’d the cord but the laptop had no driver. HP claims they don’t have an XP Driver because it is not support. I told them I wouldn’t hold them responsible for anything as the laptop is “Never” online. Can I download an HP driver to place on my XP Pro laptop to use the new printer. Unfortunately the printer doesn’t have Bluetooth. Light is on the laptop but no card. No, I can install a card but have he driver. It has become a viscous circle. Thanks, old guy, Omaha, NE.
Unfortunately, if they don't make a drive for Windows XP, you won't be able to use it on the Dell Machine.

MYSTERY!! Both my iphone and ipad have photos in "albums" or "collections", that I cannot transfer to my PC, they dont even appear, they can only be seen on the device itself. any solution?

I go through that whole process of transferring but then in the middle of the transfer it stops and about 1% of my photos are actually transferred and then it says the device is not discoverable… Any ideas how to fix that

It keeps on saying “the best drivers for your device are already installed” I’ve done everything you said, my phone has a setting so that it doesn’t turn off, there’s three-bar/5-bar wifi connection on both devices why is this?

I fixed it though, by importing with iCloud, thanks for the tutorial though! It gave me a general idea and helped many others

Yes.
I did then try iTunes, by downloading and installing. Then I got the “Trust” option message - before I got an “Allow” option message. (Apparently not the same thing.) Then with iTunes I could see the folders with my pictures BUT the image I wanted to print would not easily open but eventually did. (Was a png file image.) I was then able to take a screenshot of the image from a preview of the image (a pretty good preview) and used the screenshot to create a document with MS Paint and copying and pasting that screenshot image to a WordPad document to print it out - it was a document for work from my bank.
My laptop is only making a sound but no pop for option that my phone is already connected. But i got my security, just like that TRUST thinggy.. i have done it before but now its no longer working.. its only using now as a charger.. it’s charging from the laptop. Haha

What if its a ADD file and I have a problem no videos does not pop up when im in the file explorer menu
