Thank you for this. I've been frustrated ever since I got the phone. I bought an iPhone because Apple was supposed to be the best when it comes to privacy, but they make it very difficult to figure out how to manage your own photos unless you first upload them to someone else's server.
It was bad enough when they took away the headphone jack… And now this!
what way would you like to transfer your photos? i dont get it
I've been doing this with older iphones, like iphone SE (2020) and even an iphone 7+ and I ALWAYS have hit and miss success, usually miss. I've tried with both Windows 7 & 10. Usually photos will transfer quite easily, but videos have a tough time. I get an error message 9x out of 10 with video transfer, especially larger sizes. It will randomly work at times, but it's usually a huge hassle. I was hoping something would be different with the iphone 13, but I'm not convinced it's any different. Funny thing is, I've never had an issue with an android phone. I'm convinced Apple just doesn't want to make it easy for PC users.

@@WorldofTech I've tried. Its very hit and miss, but I've confirmed that file size has something to do with it. Longer videos almost never transfer....but then again, occasionally they do.
I have the same problem and I thought that the problem would disappear if I had an iPhone 13. I have it and nothing has changed. At the moment I have tried many computer cables. I tried using a new usb c cable directly to a newer computer and always sending photos ends with an error. I also tried all the tricks from the internet. Nothing works. Worst of all, sometimes you think he uploaded the file but the file won't open. My mp4 from 15 years ago is better at transferring files.
@@Crilard Interesting. I have moved a few videos over from my new Iphone 13 to a WIN7 computer, and so far so good. I'm sure there will be an issue at some point though....there always is.

All folders within my DCIM folder show up empty. I allowed and trusted my Win 10 PC. Used the actual USB C to firewire cable that came with my phone. PC\Apple iPhone\Internal Storage\DCIM after telling my phone to trust my Win 10 PC. In fact I don't see any folders or pictures with modification dates for pictures on the phone taken within the last month. Much appreciated.

I was able to do this before but since the "Trust this Computer" is not poping up on my phone, my PC is not recognizing that the storage is being shared.

You have wasted lot of time initially, you have omitted- how to take backup of iPhone 13 all contents or selected files using iTunes, how to save space when more than two backups are accumulated in the Windows pc?!

A phone charging does not mean the cable is good. You can get a partial charge without getting a complete connection that allows transfer. Make sure phone is unlocked. Check phone settings.
I did cut n paste to windows PC & got the files copied into the PC. But didn’t get delete the files from iPhone. Any chance to fix it?

I saved the cinematic videos to i movie and then transferred them and they showed up. However my PC can’t play them without glitching out and they’re not full resolution. So bizarre.

Load of crap! Not once did my iphone 13 show up and I followed everything to the letter!
On the laptop the videos are blurry/pixelated. I use VLC player
When I'm copying photos (about 500), this error keeps popping up "The request value cannot be determined" and copying stops. This is happening at random places so sometimes like after copying 38 photos and another time after 16 photos. I even tried with another new cable and in another computer, but same error keeps popping up.

What about the other way around (PC to iPhone)? It's the only thing keeping me from switching.
You shouldn't have an issue with photos, but video may be a different story. I also personally have issues moving videos from my iphones to a PC while photos usually transfer without issue. The video format from iphone to PC isn't the issue as they play just fine when I can get them to transfer. iphones just don't like to "play nice" with PC's all the time and the issues are inconsistent.
When we connect apple to pc it shows many folders over there and when i connected for the next time it shuffle all the videos nd photo to different folder how can i solve this?

Hello: Great video and instructions. I had an issue. When I opened my internal storage it did show the DCIM folder, but went straight to my photos. However, it shows no image. It gives me 2 different messages, "The file cannot be opened because the device is in use" and "it looks like we don't support this format". All my photos are JPG. It also does not show images. Can you help me get this right?

Not sure for how many this works. Apple disables the drive and will not allow to copy. It says device is in reachable. It’s totally mistake to buy iPhone 14 pro. After taking videos, you just need to dump them and use normal cameras.

Well I'm sorry to say but this did not help me with my issue my iphone 14 tom using Windows 11 the DCMI folder does not appear on windows 11 so I've been doing this method for quite some time on windows 10, and using an older iphone but there has to be another issue somewhere where my DCMI folder does not show up. Is the quality of the image affected? And can the Apple image format be opened on windows laptop?
Image quality isn't effected (reduced etc), but it may appear differently on a computer screen because the screen resolution on your computer is different that on a small phone screen. Yes, the image format is compatible with a PC.
This didn't work for me on my new PC. What app or McAfee nonsense do you think is stopping it? It sees everything, starts to copy over and then chokes. It should work but doesn't. Bummed out. Need help. Thanks
Somehow the copy and paste method fails, but with this method of drag and drop it works! Good, but not complete yet. What if I want to move everything from all of those folders at once, not 1 by 1?
I never have any luck with transferring these files. I even shut off syncing from my iPad to my iPhone to my desktop windows PC seems like they always stay on my phone and I can’t drag and drop them in if I delete them from my phone they disappear out of my folder on my desktop
I have 12,000 pictures on my iPhone 13. I did what you said but it only says 157 folders. Does it only happen in portions? When I right click on DCIM it’s showing 7882 files. What is happening?
When I open the internal storage drive of the iPhone, all I get are more folders with a few pix in each folder. I am guessing I have over 2K in photos. Your video shows actual pix instead of folders. How do I make the pix appear?

U can also use a flash drive (thumb drive) which is the size of a key.

from other users, it seems you cannot "cut" the files, even if you select cut it will copy them to the PC so yes they stay in your phone, probably have to delete them directly in the iphone if you dont want the files

It does not delete photos from phone it’s just a copy not move. So u have to delete from photos from phone manually if u want to delete them.
so my images ALL came up as like small pixilated thumbnails. I had like 20 folders under DCIM. I've been trying for months to get this stuff off my phone without using "the cloud" but there doesn't seem to be an easy way around anymore. I used to be able to do it exactly how you showed but this iCloud keeps coming up and it will not let you drag and drop items from the icloud to your desktop......so frustrating. Good video though I"m thinking now maybe I need to shut off iCloud on my iPhone.....

This goes for all photos, what are these and why are the images being saved as 'AAE' files in my phone. TIA

The video format is fine. I edit my videos from iPhone 13 to windows computer no problems. But u want a computer w good amount of ram cause videos editing software is ram intensive.

I tried this and it still don’t work. My computer recommend that I get a HECV code which I download but it never finished so I deleted. I had 3 videos and the shortest vid was 7min. The first time I transferred the vid it showed and that was before downloading the app. The 2nd time I used the simple transfer all I got was sound for all 3 vids. Also I notice none of my previous videos couldn’t be found it’s like they were hidden.
