If your computer says device not responding, follow these tips , go to settings: scroll down to photos and click on it : scroll to the bottom of photos where it says transfer to mac or pc and select keep originals . Hope this helps it worked for me

I used the photo app for me because it organizes my stuff for me.
You absolutely does not need to install itunes to copy pictures from your iphone. Just plugin iphone to usb port, several options will appears on pc screen, just select file explore and copy or move files you need.

It's been soooo frustrating not having the Airdrop feature after transferring over to PC, and having a limit of 1000GB internet/mo doesn't help when my iPhone videos tend to get up to 20GB+ files recording at 4K doing 1 hour long+ sessions for behind the scenese things. I really need that extra real estate to punch/scale into my videos and such. yeah i run into this same problem as well. it so annoying because it gets really messing due to the fact that you'll have some pic and vids go through already. running it over and over get this error of transfer failed is so annoying. i don't remember it being this hard back in the day
Quick Tip: If someone is not able to view the File sharing option on the iTunes app then do the following Account-->Authorisations-->Authorize this computer-->"Enter you apple id password"

If you are running Windows and you simply want to transfer Photos and/or Videos to your pc, then download Microsoft Photos if it's not already in your computer. Special Note: If you are using your charger cable to download and your images are not very sharp, then the odds are your cable is not sending your images to your pc properly, I knw because that happened to me. My sons images were great on his computer after downloading and mine were not. The only difference was he was using a Belkin charger cable, I went to Walmart and purchased one, images were great just like my Son's. Hope this helps someone.

Same for me. When trying to bulk transfer photos/videos after a while the transfer stops with an error Unable to find the phone(have even tried using the "Never" auto lock phone option just in case, doesn't solve the problem.) Guess we need to use a TPT to transfer the photos in Bulk.
Steps to correctly copy iphone images and videos to PC 1. In iPhone photo settings, make sure photos will be kept as original during transfer. 2. In iPhone DCIM, search for all extension types (.mov, .mp4, .jpg, .heic, .aae, .png, .gif, etc). Or, search for all file types using * in the search bar. 3. Copy them and paste in one single destination folder. 4. Make sure to keep both images for duplicated files because some files might have the same names in the iPhone subdirectories.

This usually happens when a file has a problem. You should check until which file the copy has progressed. That will show the problematic file! Skip that file and continue the copying
