Good channel Deano, only spotted it over the weekend. Black and white pudding, egg, sausage, rashers and beans are what I expect in a full Irish. Potato Farls soda bread and beef sausages are part of an Irish Breakfast in Northern Ireland as far as I know. Hash Brown's, mushrooms and some other things appear also, but not needed IMO. Chips are for tea, not for breakfast
For an Irish breakfast I'd expect black and white pudding, soda bread and a potato farl as a minimum mate. Still looked like a decent hangover remedy mind (minus the evil mushrooms of course!)

The sausages were excellent, but apart from that it was a bit average

I'd be expecting a potato farl in an Irish breakfast personally but that's only based on what I experienced in northern Ireland.
I like their breakfasts, if you want white pudding, I guess it is hard to find. At the end of the day, O'Neils is a chain pub. The chef is pretty friendly and asks if everything is ok? Maybe ask for some slices that aren't crusts?
Irish Sausages rarely have leeks so that’s a no. It’s like Richmond sausages pushing ah Irish ☘️flavour but big standard Irish sausages are so much better. Also Heinz beans 🫘 would not be that Irish either the Irish brand Bachelors would be the go to brand. Hash Browns would probably be a more colcannon kind of item too. Anyway bar that looks like a decent breakfast at a decent price of quantity and quality but it’s not as Irish as it should be 😮

There is a fish and chip shop in Garforth called Hillton's. Doesn't look much on the outside, but F&C are amazing.
crust is the best part of bread especially on a proper crusty loaf nothing worse than a soft crust just wish more places used tinned tomatoes instead of a grilled one
The crust is only used for cheese on toast in my house 🤣
Really don't understand what chefs have against cooking a tomato for more than 30 seconds.
They used to have the white pudding on the breakfasts and was lovely. Am at the one near King’s Cross station on Saturday.

I tried to order an English breakfast. They said they sell only Irish breakfasts so I asked what made it an Irish breakfast, 'Irish pork and leek sausages' was the reply, 'Look at all the signs and menus stating Irish port and leek sausages'. I remarked that leeks were normally associated with the Welsh. They said that the other ingredients were locally sourced.
Anyway I asked for the sausages to be brought on a separate plate with a bap,
I therefore got my English breakfast and a Welsh sausage bap. Half way though, I put a bit of square sausage which I'd brought; on my plate and ended up with a Scottish breakfast.
And a slice of soda bread. When I travelled to Ireland the sausages were beef. Took me back to my late dad only eating beef sausages, Great show Deano.
Leeks are surely more associated with Wales 🏴?

It's the white pudding that makes it an Irish breakfast. Morrison's supermarket used to sell it several years ago, but they've stopped doing so. As far as I know it is not available anywhere in Leeds 😞
The missus says Sainsbury sell Clonakilty White Pudding and Clonakilty Sausages.

What's Irish about that, nothing. No black pudding, white pudding, Potato Farl or Irish soda bread.
Looked OK for the price though except for overcooked sausages and undercooked bacon and tomato. Hash browns do not belong on a breakfast btw.

I'm 100% in agreement with you on this one and was struggling to give a 6 myself, the quantity was good, and the price was good, but the presentation was bad, saved only by the eggs and sausages, I also hate raw tomato on my breakfast and much prefer tinned, chopped tomato, and you should have been asked if you wanted your toast on a crust, tight bleeders selling the whole loaf as part of a breakfast. By the way nowhere on the advertising board did it say it was an Irish breakfast, it said it was a mega breakfast.

Hey up mate best fish and chips for me is murgatroyds near the airport for breakfast the cosy club expensive but very good the best pub is the whitelocks and its the oldest pub in leeds. Stay safe keep up the great work

i worked in a cafe for years and the knobbers as we called them were thrown away was never put on anyones breakfast plus i like my bacon cooked properly bacon should never be griddled, we have an irish bar here called McCaffertys they have white pudding on theres

Tbf having spent time in Ireland - it’s the lack of soda bread that’s the biggest surprise. white pudding is a little hit or miss as you travel to different parts believe it or not.
Also, they have Boxty - like a potato pancake which suddenly becomes a thing depending on where you are having your breakfast.

Do you know what leeks are? The bread you discarded could be Irish soda bread and not sourdough. That place is guilty of ‘false advertising’ or maybe thought a few folks in Yorkshire wouldn’t know the difference!
I meant soda bread (why i said sourdough i'll never know) but it defo wasnt. It was the crust from a warburtons toastie loaf
This Irish Breakfast looked delicious Deano... And although it wasn't a traditional one... It had some lovely looking food on the plate... But sadly they didn't execute some of the items on the plate very well... Firstly that Bacon looked quite anemic... And should've been cooked for much longer... The two Tomato halves looked like they weren't cooked at all... The Baked Beans looked like a cheap budget variety with very little colour... And in a very watery looking sauce... And the Toast was a crust slice... Not everyone likes a crust slice of Bread... Always use a normal slice wherever possible... And of course the White Pudding was missing from the plate too... But their Sausages looked amazing pal... And they were nicely cooked too... The same with the Flat Mushrooms... I think that they were the star of the show alongside those delicious looking Sausages... The Fried Eggs were fine... Just one was a tiny tad overdone and not completely runny... But that wouldn't have bothered me one little bit mate... As i'd rather it was a tad overdone... Than having a snotty Egg any day... And finally the Hash Browns were cooked well with a decent scratch to them... If O'Neill's just addressed those minor issues... This would've been a stunning breakfast Deano. 👌👍

hash browns and beans arent a stable on an irish breakfast , if you have potatoes left over from the dinner the night before (if youre smart you would put extra on the night before🤣) , you would slice them and fry them in the sausage/rasher fat (yum) also brown soda bread is a must and finally a mug of sweet tea , perfect to start the day , and as you said white pudding

Without White Pudding or Soda Bread - Black Pudding is common but optional, that was not an Irish Breakfast. In fact it was nothing more than a Full English. They should not be allowed it call it an Irish Breakfast! Also, unless the sausages and bacon came from Ireland, how can it possibly be an Irish Breakfast!?!

How can you call that an Irish Breakfast? Well the signage calls it a Mega Breakfast, not Irish. It's an English breakfast in an Irish themed pub. You mention white pudding, you forgot to mention soda farls and potato farls. To me this is a key element of the Irish breakfast. It makes the Full English look like a kiddy's breakfast.
An Irish friend who worked in a huge bakery in Ireland, called the crust the heal of the loaf. And said if you saw how they were treated you would never eat them.
Do we have to thank the Americans or curse them for getting hash browns onto the English Breakfast plate? They are never a thing I will add to my breakfast plate. If the bacon was cold, tomato uncooked, you should have sent them back with the toast. Let the kitchen know you won't take poorly prepped food. If I had to score this breakfast, it would be 10 for quantity, and 3 for quality.
