Preach! Wish I had had someone give me this advice 9 or 10 years ago before I spent money on a degree that didn't help me in music, lol. High schoolers watching this video... for real, he's 100% right. Thanks X!
Now I just feel lost. How do I go get experience? Just an internship? I also what to go into business as an artist, and produce on the side. I don't know where to start!
Hi Joshua! Part of getting experience is putting yourself out there as well as meeting artists who are also starting out and needing someone to help produce their music. Finding local bands and artists is also a good way to get started and gain the experiential learning. Having good relationships can also be a way to find an internship. Keep finding people who are doing what you want to do and ask for their help and that can be a powerful way to get into the industry and get the internship that will help launch your career!
the only problem now is covid. I started going to metalworks college close to where i live but it was when covid first hit. Now I'm wondering if iits worth going back because all the classes are online now and theres no hands on work.
But what about if I don’t have any experience to be in an internship? Or be like hands on into making music but I have no idea how to make music but I do know how to play?
@@OfficialFCMusic and if one volunteers to be an assistant, is it expected to show up and be there full time and whenever it is needed? I'm wondering what one should do if, as long as music doesn't pay any bills, one has to have a different job to make ends meet. For many it's an impossible reality to volunteer and renounce earning money. Or is it common that such volunteer activities might also be just 5-10 h/week in a flexible manner? Although then I wonder how productive this can be?
Long story short don’t do it lol I did it and it was cool learning certain things but 110% coulda learned it all at home and most definitely not worth the money
