This song was a change of pace for Elton John. It had a much jazzier vibe. With a string section, electric piano and drums using brushes. And Mr. john's vocal range was focused more towards to lower register. Unusually nice. BEAUTIFUL SONG!
He has too many hits to pick a favorite! He is also into music, and has a massive record collection! Actual Vinyl! He used to shop at Tower Records when it was in existence! THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY FRIEND, WE THOUGHT THEY'D NEVER END! So many memories, and so much nostalgia!
Elton John's underrated ballad "Sacrifice", which was released in 1990, is one of his most beautiful songs. I hope, Angela, that you can someday react to it. You will love it. That was a great reaction! Thank you for listening to one of my all time favorite singers!!
Sir Elton John Has Many exceptional Hits like 1) Daniel 2) Candle in the wind ( Goodbye England's Rose 🌹 ) 3)I Guess that why they call it the Blues 4) Nikita 5) Good bye yellow Brick Road Yet I would send you this not only for Vocals but the Music Alone from 1969 The Moody Blues ( Nights in White Satin) Like button 🔘 has been Illuminated 😁👍👍🌞
When it comes to appreciating Elton John's slower songs, I always think of "Come Down in Time" from his "Tumbleweed Connection" album. To this day it has had the most impact on me. I'd play this song at night in our darkened livingroom where there was only a lighted painting of an old sailing ship cutting water on a moonlit night . Somehow the painting paired beautifully with the mood of the song. Yes, Elton John's ballads are wonderful mood inducers.
Another jazz number he recorded, if you’d like to react to it or just listen to, was “Idol” from the 1976 album “Blue Moves”, his last of the 7 consecutive #1 albums.
Angela, my favorite Ballad by Elton is “The One”. To me it’s much than Blue eyes, the piano piece is much better. Saw him together with Billy Joel when the two Piano Men knocked them dead !! Try “The One” , you won’t regret it !!
Really great reaction. I hope you can check out Zora She is an incredible vocalist who is Really doing something different. Her Band is called Blackbriar and the music is masterfully balanced between her ethereal and Haunting voice and dark symphonic metal music. Until Eternity or I'd Rather Burn would be a great reaction.
Elton's 'sound' really depends on what you listen to. Not a hit, but a song like 'One More Arrow' (a song written about Bernie Taupin's father, who had passed away) gets super-high, but is sad, but touching and beautiful, and 'Texas Love Song' is song from the voice of a sort of shit-kicker country singer sneering at people like...Elton and his band. I think his method is to sing any song from the point of view of the 'speaker', so more of a one-act play. The sound is telling a story and is sincere-sounding...in contrast to many modern singers that are trying to show off range a la American Idol. Or just missing the message/voice of a song. We've all seen it...someone covering 'Your Song' like it's a show tune or 'Daniel' with a big smile on their face. In my opinion, anyway.
Sir Elton wrote several songs to his good friends including Lady Diana. Several of his songs were about his husband David, he just had to change pronouns from he to she to get them to sell
That’s an interesting concept. I believe he said that after he came out as bi in 1976 he asked Bernie, his lyricist not to write songs highlighting a specific gender anymore. This is a prime example of that. The person with the blue eyes could be any gender. Nothing to do with sales at all. In fact, when he came out as gay after his divorce from Renate, Bernie wrote some openly gay lyrics.
Interesting comment. He never changed pronouns. He can’t have because he never writes lyrics. He lyricist Bernie gives him the lyrics and Elton writes the melody. Bernie has also written lyrics that are openly gay and that’s songs about Gays and Lesbians. “All the Girls Love Alice” from 1973 is the most obvious one.
For some reason, internet reactors never listen to Elton's hits from The Lion King, namely Circle of Life and Can You Feel the Love Tonight? I wonder if they are blocked by Disney.
His most timeless song, that will remain so for centuries to come.
Never was a fan of his "fast" songs but man he can do ballads

This is one of my favorites of his. I'm not sure why. A living Legend.

Love this progression, chord voicings, and production. Lush and moving.
He has so many great rockers and ballads: No Sacrifice, Blue Eyes, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues, Daniel, Your Song, etc., etc., etc.
This song came out when I was maybe 11 years old. I thought it was wonderful and I still do in my 50s 😊
The song is like a piece of heaven 😍💜💜💜
It just carries you away….
Always liked this song , nice melody and calming effect and reminiscent of my first girlfriend all those years ago, for she had "Blue Eyes".

Great Reaction... Luv you sister!
James Taylor Your smiling Face, you love it
Elton almost down to Lou Rawls territory in this one. "you'll never find...". Nice and song reaction.
My heart aches when I hear this
Love this song. Number 2 on the list after Bennie and the Jets.
Angela, you should give “The One” by Sir Elton John…. One of my favorites
