    I do not predict very long live to the battery assembled like not standing position as it is a lead acid one it is made to use in only one way. Like this lead parts are partially not under acid and it ruins it soon! Good points for emission deleting!

      I buy AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) lead-acid batteries that are designed to handle being mounted any direction. The acid is soaked into a mat, so it can't spill out or leave any parts of the lead without acid.

    I just picked up a running "Chinese scooter" for dirt cheap! It looks VERY similar to the one you have done videos on but it has cruzin150 and a model number (I'm assuming) on the rear fenders.

      You can run the breather hose from the valve cover to your foam air filter. Most foam filters have 2 layers and you can just tuck it in between them. Basically this just allows the engine to burn vapors that come out of the valve cover. If you don't connect the hose to anything, that's OK too.

    I bought a 50cc moped Pagsta Regal Raptor recently, it looks like a small motorcycle. It runs kind of bad on 4th gear and higher speed RPM at full throttle where it kind of wants to die and does from time to time, always starts up again but it runs unevenly. I have checked some things and also noticed I have an EGR, do you think that could have anything to do with this problem? It seems the previous owner had broken of the airbox housing and left is only the EGR hose and some cables that go to it, I have no idea what it does, it doesn't look like in your video.

    • @LabCoatPaul

      Disconnected hoses can cause a vacuum leak and would mess up your air to fuel ratio. I recommend setting up the hoses like I have them in the video so you don't have any extra stuff.

I cleaned the air filter and will try it today and see if it runs better, seems it gets very hot after just a short time too. Maybe could have something to do with the air not being enough? I tried adjusting the air mix screw but it is almost turned in as far as it goes, about a half turn before it is maxed. Turning it out slightly will cause the engine to idle very fast, the idle screw is on the other hand turned out 3-4 hole steps. I am wondering if the main jet might be too big? Haven't got any smaller to try out with but it seems to get way too much fuel because the spark plug gets black from soot, bought a new one but still gets black and sooty.

    Hello Paul 🛵👍. I purchased a gel battery recently & was wondering if that was a wise choice. My scooter has complete Leds & the charging system currently is a little over 15 volts at quarter throttle 🤔. Is that too much for a gel base battery ?? Appreciate the info 💯😎

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  11 місяців тому

      Over 15 volts is pretty high. Gel batteries are basically a normal lead acid battery, but the acid is less of a liquid so it can't spill easily. I'm a big fan of cheap Amazon batteries for scooters. I just buy ones with good reviews and I haven't had a problem yet. You might want to try a new voltage regulator to see if you can get that voltage a bit lower.

    Hi. Was wondering if heard of this one. I have out of the valve cover breather fuel and oil mix missing out. I have replaced the oil obviously and a new petcock fitted. I also have new carb to fit. Just don't want it happening again if its related to something else.

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  2 роки тому

      A little bit of oil coming out of the valve cover vent is normal. It's part of the positive crankcase ventilation system, or PCV. Piston rings don't seal perfectly, so when the engine is running some of the combustion pressure and a little bit of gas, can get into the crank case with the oil. The breather vent on the valve cover lets those extra fuel vapors back out. The hose should be routed to the air box so the engine can burn those vapors.
      Too much oil or gas coming out of the valve cover can be caused by having your oil overfilled, having your carburetor tuned too rich, or bad piston rings.

    • @mkingwell45
      @mkingwell45 2 роки тому

      That's just it it's not vapours it's actual oil/petrol mixed. Drained the oil and got way more out than I put in. It's like an actual stream coming out of breather. It filled up air box

    • @piquecuriosity
      @piquecuriosity 4 місяці тому

      @@LabCoatPaul Hi there, i'm not sure if you answer it as the topic was long before but in anyway i would ask that you mentioned pcv works as the recruiter for the leaked gas and oil to the crankcase. Crankcase should be placed bottom side of the engine. How can the breather on the valve cover blow that leaked oil and gas to the air system again as it is placed on top of the engine. I'm confused because these are far apart itself.

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  4 місяці тому

      The PCV takes extra vapors from the crankcase and routes them back into the intake.
      If you have gas in your oil, some of it will evaporate and go through the PCV back into the intake.
      If you your oil has a lot of fuel contamination, change your oil.
      The purpose of the PCV system is to prevent vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. It’s an emissions component.

    • @piquecuriosity
      @piquecuriosity 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for your answer but still i did not get it exactly. As far as i know the only pcv component in this bike is a port on the petcock and a hose out of it to the air intake. So, when gases pass through the piston and escape to the crankcase then how our pcv component recall them from crankcase to petcock again. It is a long way and it should be some vacuum or any other force that gases to be drawn out again. but inversely once the gases escape down the piston there is no force to take it out again upward to my logic. Please tell me if i'm wrong. In cars, there are some other hoses crankcase to connect air intake and it is logical but in this bike there is no direct connection between crankcase and air intake. So, i just dont understand how the escape gases in the crankcase can go back to petcock again without additional route like in the cars.@@LabCoatPaul

      Gas motor scooters are very economical at 100 miles per gallon. They will be around as long as gas is available. There’s no reason why electric scooters will replace gas versions until the electric ones are less expensive and battery replacement is cheaper than engine replacement - that is a few decades away. It’s on the right side of the gas tank and it runs to something I’d think is the pvc valve, then further runs to what I think is the egr valve, now the question I have here is can I just cut that hose and plug it up so no gas leaks out? Question 2, is it necessary to cut that piece off the air filter box or can I just drill a hole in and insert the hose? As for question 1, I can send you pix if I didn’t explain it well enough. Thank you, LW

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  Рік тому +2

      If your gas tank is in the floor, like my scooter, you'll have a fuel hose going up to a pump, then to the carburetor. The other hose coming from the tank is a vent hose. It's routed to the charcoal canister to store the fuel vapors and burn them later. It's ok to leave that hose disconnected, but I recommend running it to the air filter box, so if fuel evaporates it can go back into the engine. Don't plug the fuel tank vent.
      It's not necessary to cut parts of the air box. I just did it to have the minimum number of parts.

      @@LabCoatPaul wow thx for your reply. I’m totally confused with the mess the previous owner has left and I basically want to eliminate any lines that I don’t need. Yes the left side of my floor gas tank is the line that is going to the fuel pump, then on the right that line goes to what I’d assume is a pct valve and then further to I believe the EGR valve. There is actually another hose going into that canister as well besides the line from what I think is probably a pct valve. On the other side of that canister is a nipple or stud or whatever it would be called to which nothing is connected, so I was stumped and hoping I could eliminate that whole setup. Like you stated though I will run that line from the fuel tank in the air cleaner box. Thx again for your reply. In the video I used 3/16" and 1/4" hose. Look at the numbers on screen in the video when I install each hose.

    "This is a Chinese scooter so the emissions system doesn't work anyway" FUNNY! - There are CA approved Chinese scooters but they are not the norm. I live in a state/county where we do not have emissions checks at all for any vehicle so I'm free to gut that stuff as I see fit.

    Why did you just not block off unused vacuum ports with caps? Also, why no one on UA-cam is using JB Weld to block the hole on the engine block, no one wants to wait for it to dry?

    I have a ice bear trike 157qmj with a egr Air filter nipple. Or I think it's a pcv hoes connected to the air filter. Only problem is that where I live they don't have that kind of air filter with nipple on it. So I bought a air filter with out the nipple plug. My problem is , since my new air filter don't have a nipple to place the hoes that goes back to it what should I do? I don't know how to take the EGR system completely out so I have that hoes lose. Should I plug it or zip tight it to the frame n leave it out in the open. Can some one help!!!!

      The PCV hose is connected to the air box so the engine can burn crankcase vapors instead of releasing them into the atmosphere. You can just drill a hole in the air box and push the hose in. Watch the video at 4:38

      If it's running out of gas, there are a few things to check. If your gas tank is lower than the carburetor, you'll need to check the fuel pump. If the gas tank is higher than the carburetor, check the fuel petcock. Disconnect the fuel hose from the carburetor and put it in a cup. Crank the engine and make sure you get fuel.
      It's also possible to get vapor lock in the gas tank. If your scooter dies after riding, open the gas cap and close it again. If it runs after that, you have a bad gas cap.
      You could also have a dirty carburetor. Take the float bowl off and check your fuel inlet valve.

    I enjoy watching your videos and I've helped me with a lot of things that I thought I would never be able to do. I was wondering if you could help me with an issue I'm having with the air box. I have a Rogue star 150cc and I can't seem to get the carburetor back in place .Some of the rubber portions have ripped off on the connection on the airbox while removing the old carburetor. Almost like a ring of rubber ripped off because of wear and tear. Consequently I can't seal it will on to the carburetor. Almost like it's too short now to even extend to attach the clamp to seal because of the ripped off ring a rubber. Do you have any advice or recommendations on how to seal the airbox to the carburetor that goes into the airbox?

      @LabCoatPaul  7 місяців тому

      Remove the air box from the scooter. You might be able to fix the air intake tube with some silicone sealer. Otherwise, find a new airbox online. Just do a search for Chinese scooter parts and you should be able to find an airbox that looks like yours. Install the carburetor first, then the air box.
