same problem i took the siding off and saw it right away it was popped up nothing needed replaced just needed toughen . thank you for your video it helped me a lot easy to follow

To sum it up spray shit everywhere. I watched a friend use his impact on those intake nuts and forget to reverse it back to loosen. Snapped that sumbeech right off. Hahaha

You can also use a propane torch (not lit, of course) open the valve and run the torch over the hoses. If there is a vacuum leak you will hear the engine rev up higher, and the propane won't affect the plastic parts, the rubber or the paint.
Someone said to check the fuel screw i had it at only one turn because their was a vacuum leak from a broken rubber valve in the carb that is part of the vacuum line, after changing it and turning the screw out 3 turns it runs better but still has random idle speeds that change but not too drastic. My muffler makes alot of noise too i think its shot and is alot of exhaust coming out im guessing because its worn out and not creating back pressure from the exhaust screwing up the carb adjustment.

Joey, can you tell me what the scooter will do or how it will run if there is a vacuum leak or some problem with the lines, hoses or whatnot? My scooter is acting like it is choking when I try to go full speed. It starts right up every time and takes off good, but after maybe 30 mph it starts feeling like it is hesitating and jerking slightly like something is holding it back or choking it off slightly. Slightly, because it still runs and goes fast downhill or on the flat, but it does not run like it was running. It is pretty new with 1,600 miles on it.
What does it mean if the engine dies when spraying the joints? I changed the vacuum lines and added better hose clamps and my scooter is running better. Just thought it was wierd that it worked in reverse by killing the engine not revving.

I was wondering if you could help me with an issue I'm having with the air box. Some of the rubber portions have ripped off on the connection . Almost like a ring of rubber ripped off because of wear and tear. Consequently I can't seal it will on to the carburetor. Almost like it's too short now to even extend to attach because of the ripped off ring a rubber. Do you have any advice or recommendations on how to seal the airbox to the carburetor that goes into the airbox?
I changed this and the bike ran better but still has issue with unstable idle. I had to remove the manifold again and the bike finally ran. after 2 months their was a leak again in this stupid area but resetting it fixed it for now but still cant get idle steady and carb sputters. Could their be leaks in the carb seals too?
I've run into a problem, my 139qmb just wont idle when its cold, it idle perfectly when slightly warm, and runs perfectly, ive tested with 2 different idle jets and auto chokes, no gain.
Ran in to this issue for awhile now. Its driving me insane. Just got it out of the shop on saturday. Said they replaced the fuel filter and adjusted the valves. Ran about 5 miles and died on me again. Step father bled the fuel line and it ran until 530pm monday. Crap load of sediment in fule filter. Cleaned it out. Blew thru hose to clear out the line and "pump"(?). Ran it for 3 miles. Fuel filter has crap in it again. When it died at 530 all i did was pull the lines to to engine. Not the fuel line the one into the carb and the other. Im at a lose, atm its running but i feel its only a matter of time till it happens again. Need to find out to keep this from being presistant. I have no clue wtf to do lol. Its definitly not the idle!
I would check the fuel tank. Is it dirty? I’m thinking of working it in steps. Is fuel clean going into tank? Is tank clean? Then goes through the line. Lines good. Is there a petcock between tank and carb? Somewhere there’s a cause in that cycle.
Can that intake if it has a massive leak could that prevent the throttle from acceleration. You see mu gy6 idles good and starts easy but the minute I accelerate the engine dies. I was told that all you need is one vacuum line to run bike, but what do I do with vacuum line coming from petcock that makes suction for fuel to carburetor and what do I connect this little filter with a one way directional arrow that's coming from the top of the fuel tank in other words I have two lines coming from fuel tank one is fuel going to input of petcock then this other one that used to go to this canistor which I eliminated that said I beleve pcv on top. Guess that canister made of plastic had 3 lines coming off it. The actual pcv line on top of valve cover is going to airbox. I was going to get the nibbi type of cold air intake with curved tube and all but decided instead to modify my stock air box which I think I did a pretty good job modifying. But I do need your help with this line coming from the fuel tank with an arrow on it pointing away from the fuel tank. Hope this is not too confusing Joey? 8:18

Care should be taken to make sure you don't have electrical shorts before using starting fluid or a combustible. I've seen it happen! Keep a fire extinguisher or baking soda handy.
Love your videos Joey hopefully you could give me some advice. I got a 150 GY6 that runs okay but recently has lost power slightly and sputters off and on at top speed. I'm going to test the vacuum lines like you showed. Any other advice would be great. Thanks again
Me too! Same thing, like something is causing it to choke and sputter a bit when I want to get up to a higher or highest speed. You can feel it sort of jerk, like wanting to go faster but then hesitating
Mine could be this it has no obvious leaks but the idle is crazy and it sputters almost sounds like a tiny backfire. I can hear noises in the air filter too when it sputters. Also inside the carb is a rubber valve for one of the vacuum lines it had a hole so i replaced it with a spare one but it still acts up seems to be fixed then i have to turn screw way in just to keep it running. Just realized i commented 2 months ago eh.

Hey Joey, I have a kymco movie 125 gy6 engine 2011, which on the first start of the day runs fine, then after a minute or two the rpm's rise (almost like the electric choke was closed and then opened) and so my clutch tries to engage and drives forward a little (if i hold both legs on the ground i can feel ever slight pushes but nothing dangerous) What can that be? Engine had compression problem that was fixed (new piston and cylinder, exhaust valve was cracked due to backfire, in short engine head) and carb tuned (and re-tuned by me after the mechanic) Forgot to mention: after the electric choke heats up, around 3 minutes overall, closes, the rpm's drop to normal.
Does sound like an electronic choke issue. They do go bad after time. Have you tried disconnecting the choke connector? Next thought is the valves. Have they been checked after the engine work?

You need to determine whether fuel is not getting to your carb ir fuel is not getting into engine, to determine that you need to remove fuel filter from both ends, if fuel is not flowing, clean your gas tank entirely, if you have flow of fuel, check your carburetor, maybe clean it
hello mr joey mine is a sym scooter. 125 cc. 7 am started and went out .... 7 .10 am the scooter stops just as it was going. engine stops. i kickstart, self motor start, the engine does not start. my scooter piston, cyliner kit, spark plug, ignition coi, cdi unit, has been changed to a new one just a month ago. i call my mechanic person telling him that the vehicle is parked by the road and i am taking a walk back to home. He says- hmm... all things are new.. maybe a vapor lock has occured.. I start back home and at at 7.20 am I decide to give one more try to start the engine and i did and it started !! . I phoned again to the mechanic that the vehicle has started again and drove back home. Had the engine not started he would have found out the problem . BUt now the scooter is running ! I simply dont understand what was EXACTLY the problem that led to the vehicle not starting. I would like to know . Can you give me some clarity as I see you are very interested in the puzzles of a vehicle not starting... .It is over a week and my scooter keeps running well ! BUt I am not confident that this vehicle will run well... It may stop any time because i have not yet found out the problem and rectified it . kindly offer some help. thank you. ganesh from india.
i have a loose hose clamp over my intake manifold that seals the rubber to the carb, could that be why my vacuum line wont pull gas? when i disconnect the vacuum line and suck on it, i get steady flow of gas. when vacuum line is on carb and i try to start theres no flow of gas. thanks. i think its a faulty hose clamp...
dreamingwolfsocom sure was! I had gas in the tank for over 6 months that had just been sitting. I cleaned the gas tank out put fresh gas in and it started right up. I guess you can't leave gas in the tankjs for too long before there's crud in your gas. thanks again!

No i only got a big bore kit installed in it, When i got it this past febuarry. It was runing great Till like 3 to 4 weeks ago Then it did that lazy + back firing wile i was driving it. So i kept going then it when away a little bit. Now i got it put away cause i was worry of damaging something bad. hey Joey. Question for you..if I removed petcock and replaced with manual shut off valve can I then plug up the air intake stems on the manifold or does that still need to suck air in?
Best way to find a vacuum is to use a stethoscope. Pull the end off the hose and move the hose around till you find your leak. You can pinpoint exactly were your leak is this way.
Oh so don't use a garden hose and start the scooter spray all the electric and carburetor and last open the gas cap shove the hose in.and go to lunch. Come back and you have a nice clean scooter inside and out 👍.gotta go the big yellow bus is here pick me up. Yay crayon day my favorite is orange they taste just like a fresh orange. What about if it keeps getting richer and richer? Mine idles beautifully until I’ve ridden it a couple hours or so and then it’ll be idling crazy high

Lol. Yes, but the spray is direct at specific parts at a time. If it is sprayed “everywhere” at once, the test wouldn’t be conclusive. 😉

my scooter piston, cyliner kit, spark plug, ignition coi, cdi unit, has been changed to a new one just a month ago. i call my mechanic person telling him that the vehicle is parked by the road and i am taking a walk back to home. He says- hmm... all things are new.. maybe a vapor lock has occured.. I start back home and at at 7.20 am I decide to give one more try to start the engine and i did and it started !! .
I phoned again to the mechanic that the vehicle has started again and drove back home. Had the engine not started he would have found out the problem . BUt now the scooter is running ! I simply dont understand what was EXACTLY the problem that led to the vehicle not starting. I would like to know . Can you give me some clarity as I see you are very interested in the puzzles of a vehicle not starting...
.It is over a week and my scooter keeps running well ! BUt I am not confident that this vehicle will run well... It may stop any time because i have not yet found out the problem and rectified it . kindly offer some help. thank you. ganesh from india.
Keep fuel and airlines of the top of the engine case with a zip tie or something. Vapor lock is when you the hose gets to hot fuel will not flow right
@@rockstargamer7936 I was told that it was an airlock problem. Over 3 ;years now and the scooter has not had any such airlock problems so far...
i have a loose hose clamp over my intake manifold that seals the rubber to the carb, could that be why my vacuum line wont pull gas? when i disconnect the vacuum line and suck on it, i get steady flow of gas. when vacuum line is on carb and i try to start theres no flow of gas. thanks. i think its a faulty hose clamp...
dreamingwolfsocom sure was! I had gas in the tank for over 6 months that had just been sitting. I cleaned the gas tank out put fresh gas in and it started right up. I guess you can't leave gas in the tankjs for too long before there's crud in your gas. thanks again!

What are the vacuum lines hooked up too? I.E. the emissions crap? Is so, it could be clogged.

I do not believe mine has that gasket you showed on your video this scooter I am working on was not running at the time it was giving to me I am working on it as we speak I have it running but I hear these tweeting bird noises which I believe is coming from my intake like the scooter in the Video?
Hey joey I wanted to see if i could ask for your opinion. I got a 2017 tao tao chinese ATM50 A-1 scooter I been having my scooter back firing, Plus when I come out of a stop sign and hit the gas it sounds really lazy and it wouldn't go. Sounds like it may be running too rich. Have you tweaked the carb any? And have you removed the emissions garbage?
No i only got a big bore kit installed in it, When i got it this past febuarry. It was runing great Till like 3 to 4 weeks ago Then it did that lazy + back firing wile i was driving it. So i kept going then it when away a little bit. Now i got it put away cause i was worry of damaging something bad. So should I try what u said i never done any mechanical work to bikes so Thank you for everything joey.

I want to upgrade from 50cc to 100cc/80cc,..... who makes the best kit,and after market carb. I only want to hit 50mph,... and keep it reliable.

hey Joey. Question for you..if I removed petcock and replaced with manual shut off valve can I then plug up the air intake stems on the manifold or does that still need to suck air in?

Best way to find a vacuum is to use a stethoscope. Pull the end off the hose and move the hose around till you find your leak. You can pinpoint exactly were your leak is this way.
Oh so don't use a garden hose and start the scooter spray all the electric and carburetor and last open the gas cap shove the hose in.and go to lunch. Come back and you have a nice clean scooter inside and out 👍.gotta go the big yellow bus is here pick me up. Yay crayon day my favorite is orange they taste just like a fresh orange.
