Dude....I swear my little community here in NC ...right along the NE Cape Fear River, right where all them Scots/Irish folk came through on the way to the mountains..we gotta be from the same bunch!!! lol Some stayed here cause it was a diamond in the rough and some kept going...leaving their culture along the way! But, folks our age with any knowledge of old timey ways and slang is few and far between and that's why I appreciate your telling of these stories! You got me with "them youngins was soppin wet, gonna ha'ta wring'em out!" Lordy mercy, I was thinking now how many youngins today would actually know what you just said?? My Granny has also told me about making frocks out of pokes! Thats funny how your granddaddy got ahold of you one good time and you "learnt" your lesson cause one tail whopping from my granddaddy is all it took for me too!!! (We called him Pappy) Man, these stories mean so much to me and God knows I thank you for doing them!!

When we went to church if we missbehaved, we got our skin peeled. So we sat still too.
Yes the flour companies did that during that period of time they would use printed fabric for their flour sacks because women during the depression and poorer people would use the empty flour sacks to make dresses for their daughters. My grandma told me that they would have missed ones because they lasted the longest because the fabric was a little more heavy duty just a fun

Great story . Brings to mind an old hymn."The church in the Valley " Dad designed and built our church in town . Small town and not much of it left now. We used to make all kinds of stuff from the old flour sacks . Made awesome tea towels and pillow cases . Some were printed up with pretty patterns on them .They were really nice thick cotton . Brings up great memories . Keep Safe ❤Keep Well ❤

I'm not sure what book it's in the Bible but I'm pretty sure the verse is let the children come to me do not hinder them for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as they. Like I said I'm not super religious but my grandfather was and he had us go into all different churches you know cuz there is no one correct interpretation of the Bible you know what I mean love the story keep them coming these are some of my favorites got to keep that lore alive
