Tracksuit mafia are in the comics and Fraction's Hawkeye series is one of the best runs I've ever read from Marvel, highly recommend it. I don't know how I feel about the characterisation of Kate so far. In the comics she was very much a character who saved herself and inspires Clint. You also need to keep in mind that their dynamic is kinda switched. In the comics Kate is more serious and Clint is the “goofy” mentor, but there’s a lot of stuff that prevent that from happening in the MCU. First, Clint is an already established character with a established personality, since the very first avengers movie, so they can’t change the fact that they made him a serious sarcastic kinda guy. There’s also the fact that he has gone through a lot of trauma. Also, mad props for his character Hawkeye finally getting his place in the sun by means of his own series. By the way, was that Echo at the end of the second episode?
The tracksuit mafia is a real thing in the comics and the "leader" that's not wearing the tracksuit is Echo, a woman who takes on the mantle of Ronin after Clint Barton retires. In the comics she is a villain, antihero and hero. She starts out a villain but works her way to hero status. The actual leader of the tracksuit mafia is Kingpin aka Wilson Fisk. Echo turns good after being betrayed by Kingpin.
The “cling” reminds me of Ewan McGregor’s interview on The Graham Norton Show. He said the director for Phantom Menace kept telling him to stop making lightsaber noises during the fight scenes.
Anyone else notice they didn't include the scene of Clint breaking the twist ties from behind his back? I screamed when that happened! This show did that just for Arrow fans lol
5:40 Ive seen someone else point this out. I know its not Clint's style to say it to someone but when the LARPer says he's not a hero. Guy is a New York firefighter, he is 100% a hero.
Calling it now: it's not the step-dad, it's the mother. Step-dad is too obvious, she was arguing with the dead guy for reasons we still don't know, and she could easily have given her finace the butterscotch. She's the baddie.
I'm getting some fun Knives Out vibes from this show. I absolutely loved the first two episodes and was already super excited for the show (I like Hawkeye a lot more than most) but this strong premiere made me a lot more pumped for the rest of the show. The chemistry between Renner and Steinfeld is also strong for only one episode so far.
The funny thing about the LARP scenes is that it is technically what these shows and movies really are, just a bunch of actors doing some advanced LARPing. It is ridiculous, but you can't deny that it is very fun.
Anyone else suspicious of her Mother?🤔 Like it took her so long to get to her daughter during the attack on NY. Then she didn't seem that broken up about the Father's death. I wonder if she killed him and blamed it on the chitauri? So their money problems were solved by something dropping out of the Sky? And the entire episode she keeps wearing this crimson red color that was very similar to the the tracksuit guys. And for all we know she could have killed the Uncle knowing the nephew would inherit his money since they are getting married. Given that app that Kate uses and the company her mother runs... I doubt she's in the dark about what her fiancé is into. Why else would she have such a big Feud with Armond the 3rd?
Here is some brief comic history, tracksuit gang triples the price of rent, people are losing their homes, clint offers to cover the mark up, tracksuit leader says : ''maybe i dont want money, maybe i want empty building bro'', hawkeye says : ''do you know what is the best thing about being an avenger ? the team, captain america brings the best out of people, but captain america isnt here anymore, You take the money, do you understand (ironic) broo?'', tracksuit leader replies ''building already sold bro'' and hawkeye breaks his nose. Cuts to tracksuit leader speaking with kingpin, kingpin puts a hit on hawkeye, they kidnap clint and threaten him they are going to kill his family if he doesnt leave the building. Clint decides to leave, leaves kate his bow as a christmas present, kate finds him and tells him ''i dont want to be hawkeye anymore if you leave clint, they say never meet your idols, merry christmas my ass you jerk'' and throws away his bow. Clint makes a call, invites his entire family and friends for christmas, they ask him : arent you leaving ? Clint replies : im not going anywhere. Which leads to the car chase scene. In the comics Kate is driving and clint shooting the arrows.
When you guys talk about knife deaths made think about the Kongsberg (a town south of Oslo) murderer. He killed 7 people with bow and arrow and then had a shootout with the cops before fleeing the scene! Scary stuff.
Bro, the Tracksuit Bros were tracksuits because that became the staple of Soviet culture around the time Addidas supplied them for the 1980 Olympic games.
Having read the Hawkeye comics before watching this made it so much more fun. The Tracksuit Mafia and their constant Bro'ing, Grills, the trick arrows, etc.
Okay, that Larp scene was only funny for the amount of effort those 4 to 5 guys put into LARP dying when they gotta 180 crescent slashed. Great acting and even better acting as a LARPer :D
20:40 no, the stunt man was supposed to throw the knive close to Viggo looking like Aragorn had dodged it but the stuntman "missed" the miss and threw it right at Viggo's face, which he actually deflected with his sword all that was caught on camera and it was so good that they decided to keep it in the movie like that
At first I thought the bad guys that attacked the auction were The Wrecking Crew in the comics. Even in the first episode where that guy took off his mask to stare at Kate Bishop in the Ronin suit had the purple burglar mask like the head man in The Wrecking Crew
4:38 Just sayin’… isn’t taking something from a burning apartment… we’ll say a hoodie or NY Yankees jacket or something like that… “against the rules”? (Yes, I am referring to a cop/firefighter taking the Ronan suit)
As a European LARP'er myself you'd think I'd like that part, and it was still somewhat endearing and lookin' like they had fun, but it was also American LARP and presented in quite the Marvel ridicule humour way that it cringed me the fuck out xD
Loved Jeremy in this so much lol, also loved how the chick thought he'd be worried about cops and fire fighters when he's fought off whole as aliens lol
I don’t think they were making fun of the LARPers, yes Clint didn’t want to participate in it but he didn’t judge the people who did, followed the rules and admitted to having at least somewhat enjoyed it As for the one guy who took it too far that was just a joke character that would have existed in any scene like that regardless of what the actual context was
I feel like the way they introduced Pizza Dog didn't really make sense compered to the comics. In the comics Hawkeye gives a random dog pizza, in return the dog saves Hawkeye from getting shot but gets beaten by his owner for it. So Hawkeye comes back, saves the dog and takes him to a vet to save his life (thats how he looses his eye) In here? He seems like a magical dog that attacks bad guys for no reason at all (like the scene with a watch). It dosn't make sense. I think it would be much better if the dog tried to save Kate at the end of ep1 (before Hawkeye shows up), thats when they should introduce him. Or maybe Kate could find him in the apartament of the guy who was killed with a sword. I think that would make much more sense in the story.
The girl at the end is Echo. She is Wilson Fisk's adopted daughter. Also, Kingpin will be showing up here, along with other characters from the Daredevil Netflix show...
The best part of the whole episode was the hidden gem of playing Christmas Islands' sobg by Depeche Mode, which is a very rare side B track from back in the day... 😅👌🏻

Superhero.
Calling it now: it's not the step-dad, it's the mother. Step-dad is too obvious, she was arguing with the dead guy for reasons we still don't know, and she could easily have given her finace the butterscotch. She's the baddie.
I mean he did take the Ronin's Sword and Armond was killed by a Sword.
It's either him or a really contrived red herring.
Or maybe they're both in on it.
got to love how on board the wife is with all this.
It is ridiculous, but you can't deny that it is very fun.
tracksuit mafia is indeed in the comic 🤣
Deaf lady at the end is Echo. Echo has her own show coming up.
Anyone else suspicious of her Mother?🤔
Like it took her so long to get to her daughter during the attack on NY.
Take a shot every time a Tracksuit says "Bro."
I really dig Echo's taste in music. :D
Hawkeye in this reminds me of Peter B. Parker in spiderverse
My God(god) it's "The Swordsman." They must homage his "Easter Egg" colored costume. Takes me back all the way to the 70's.
HOME ALONE reference from " Don't lose Nate" line to Clints kids. Cuz in home alone the young son Kevin is left behind.
Bro, the Tracksuit Bros were tracksuits because that became the staple of Soviet culture around the time Addidas supplied them for the 1980 Olympic games.
Clint says ‘he glad he did it’ because he’s glad he got the suit back as a result of the LARP, not because he Larped.
Christmas Island by Depeche Mode as the ending song was sooooooo fucking good! Loved it i got chills
Tracksuit Mafia absolutely are a thing in the comics
“Jones” was on the list of names for the apartment building. Maybe a Jessica Jones nod but I might be reaching!
Probably a reach lmaoo but what if am I right?
I mean, there’s also Rick Jones aka A-Bomb, so I think this is a bit of a reach.
As well, her business is called Alias Investigations.
Did not expect to see a Shanghai Knights reference from you guys! Watched that movie all the time growing up.
Kate's "I didn't know we were supposed to bring guns" line is my favorite so far. Really show how over her head she is at this point in the story
Wait, if Swordsman is in this, does that mean he might meet Mantis in Guardians later on?
Tell me if im wrong but i think in the comics, the track suit mafia was founded by Wilson fisk
Yes and Echo is his adopted daughter in it also, she also becomes an avenger
@@clarktownsend8991 alright thanks!
20:40 no, the stunt man was supposed to throw the knive close to Viggo looking like Aragorn had dodged it but the stuntman "missed" the miss and threw it right at Viggo's face, which he actually deflected with his sword
all that was caught on camera and it was so good that they decided to keep it in the movie like that
I wasn't looking at Calvin at 0:31 and thought Rick hit him when he went for the button.
Was i the only one that for a brief moment wondered why Yoyo was the head of the Tracksuit Mafia.
My brother wondered that too. Its not the same actress though, right?
She looks nothing like yo-yo
@@grandmoffjake6871 it’s not the same actress
That moment when they think the step father is evil but really he's just a bro
Comic readers will know who that character was at the end and what she leads to and it’s going to be AWESOME to see your reactions!
At first I thought the bad guys that attacked the auction were The Wrecking Crew in the comics. Even in the first episode where that guy took off his mask to stare at Kate Bishop in the Ronin suit had the purple burglar mask like the head man in The Wrecking Crew
Track suit mafia is in the comics, they work for Kingpin.
A sign of a good show is you're angry when it ends
32:10 "See any MCU movie as a broadway musical" How did none of them say RAGNAROK?
FINNALY A POLISH GUY IN A MARVEL MOVIE LETS GO!
4:38 Just sayin’… isn’t taking something from a burning apartment… we’ll say a hoodie or NY Yankees jacket or something like that… “against the rules”? (Yes, I am referring to a cop/firefighter taking the Ronan suit)
Because no one ever broke any rules before >>.>>
@@chesteradams7423 not sure if you’re joking or not… but do you mean, firefighters/cops are allowed to take anything from from a burning building? 🤨
As a European LARP'er myself you'd think I'd like that part, and it was still somewhat endearing and lookin' like they had fun, but it was also American LARP and presented in quite the Marvel ridicule humour way that it cringed me the fuck out xD
This was a great episode and also excited for that flash episode reaction
Bro, the Tracksuit Mafia is totally a thing in the comics, Bro!
Would be a really cool twist if the mom was the killer
Not really. The twist would be cool if the dog did it LOL.
The mom's definitely going to be the main bad guy/ killer of the show or is at least working for the final bad guy then....
The comic run this based on is pure chaos and absolutely fantastic. I just wish they treated David Aja well.
Loved Jeremy in this so much lol, also loved how the chick thought he'd be worried about cops and fire fighters when he's fought off whole as aliens lol
Ah yes, the Tracksuit Draculas, the greatest gang name ever…
The track suit Mafia are in the comics and they say bro at the end of almost every sentence as well
Lol'd so hard when she said "WE BURN THE CORPSE"
One of the track suit guys has to be nammed Niko and someone has to ask him to go bowling!!!
I don’t think they were making fun of the LARPers, yes Clint didn’t want to participate in it but he didn’t judge the people who did, followed the rules and admitted to having at least somewhat enjoyed it
As for the one guy who took it too far that was just a joke character that would have existed in any scene like that regardless of what the actual context was
Hawkeye is giving me King Robert vibes in this show.
"Just give me something for the pain and let me die"
Just think you guys should know, the creator confirmed this is set in 2025 for some reason
Avengers Endgame took place in 2023 so.....
Has a mustache:Hmmm
Is fond of the sword:hmmmmmmm
Really good at fencing and it's a show about Hawkeye:MHMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I feel like the way they introduced Pizza Dog didn't really make sense compered to the comics. In the comics Hawkeye gives a random dog pizza, in return the dog saves Hawkeye from getting shot but gets beaten by his owner for it. So Hawkeye comes back, saves the dog and takes him to a vet to save his life (thats how he looses his eye)
In here?
2:30 one of my favourite Blind Wave interactions ever
