I have lived in Japan for 39 years. There is no bending of the rules. If you see that you need something, international drivers license, you better prepare it. Come to Fukuoka. I can assure you of better food, fewer people and a much better time. The airport is less that 20 minutes from downtown.
There is no stress like travelling-late-to-the-airport stress. Add to that cancellations, lack of sleep, time zone changes, and business things, and it would test anyone's patience. You both seem in ok spirits during that last taxi dash, so you managed it better than most would have. A lot of people think longhaul business travel is glamorous. A lot of it is like this : tiring and potentially stressful. And all the worse if you're travelling on business continually on your own. Can't wait to see the factory visit video ! Just from your brief footage of Japan, you can tell it's Japan because of how clean and orderly the streets are. That's why I love Japanese culture. They deeply respect the environment they live in. Streets are clean and not lined with litter. Buildings, bridges and train stations aren't sprayed with graffiti. Sidewalks are clean, roads are meticulously maintained, no junk cars on the road, and the country is a good mix of ancient preservation on one side and modern technological advancement on the other. I would visit there in a heartbeat. Too bad you couldn't actually sit and enjoy it. Or get an R34 for that matter. That would've been great potential content for your channel.

When you go back look into the direct flight from Newark to Singapore. It 18 hours but much closer to Thailand. You will cut a lot of travel time out. Also the city has some of the best food from around the world. Bangkok is just a little over 2hr flight from Singapore. And you can fly Singapore air which is one of the best airlines in the world.
What a surprise, something in Rob's life didn't go to plan 🤣 Nothing ever does. He's either super unlucky, attracts drama or exaggerating his "troubles" 😂
The last overseas trip I took, me and the family went to Denmark to visit my wifes family in 2022. 3 days after we got there, the SAS pilots union went on strike. I ended up booking new flights from a different airport in Denmark and flying through Munich and Newark to get back to Cincinnati. Flying out of a different airport presented a problem only for the rental car. Hertz was very upset that I wasn't returning my car to Copenhagen and it was going to Billund instead. They asked me to drive 2 hours each way and trade my Skoda Kodiak(VW Atlas) in for something smaller. We were 4 people with 4 suitcases and 4 carry-ons. Our stuff barely fit in the Skoda! I think they ended up charging me an extra $500, but I had to get home. Other people were depending on us to be at a certain time. I have no future plans to travel abroad in the future. I told my wife it's her family's turn to travel.
Unless you want the experience of buying one at a auction over there, and arranging the import, check out the Vancouver import dealers. They go on the auction with you, buy whatever and they take it from there. I just came back from a 3 week Tunisia trip, done with planes for a while as well!

I can't say I don't understand the GT-R hype, I sort of get it, but still - that car is massively overhyped.
