Actually, a few hours before the performance she had a sore throat, her throat was congested.
In several interviews, Morisette has admitted that this song is actually one of her hardest songs.Even she’s somewhat afraid of it because it takes a lot out of her. But there’s an expectation from her fans and from herself to always be up for any vocal challenges along the way. Pls react to two live videos of (1) Mori performing the song with the original singer of the song and (2) Mori and Regine Velasquez singing the same song. When Wish 107.5 released this video, she said that she had problems with her voice and that she could only perform with the help of steoridal anti-inflammatory drugs (heavy things, like Cortisone).
Many said that her voice wasn’t on top. Maybe there is some hint here and there but this is a stellar performance. I really don’t think there is another singer in the world who can replicate it. Anyway, it’s probably true that she suffered during this performance and I think the sigh of relief after the end was for this, as if to say: it is what it is, it’s done!
There are several other videos even better than this one with Mori singing live Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw, one in her site, another one recorded for an ABS-CBN show (maybe my favorite).
She did take something she did apologize after singing the song... And once the song blew up.... she did sing that song too much... Causing her to lose her voice. But most couldn't tell
When I heard that she decided to perform this song in the vocal condition she was in at the time, I thought she was nuts. But true to form, she delivered a performance that imo demonstrates what a special voice and talent she has. Take another singer in that same condition and it would probably be a trainwreck, but she delivered a beautiful performance that was elegant and emotional. I actually preferred it to her live band performance.
I love Joseph and his multicolored dream coat. Played by Donny Osmond. I saw Joseph Broadway only from the video as busy at work that time. If I have the chance to visit the US or UK I watch Broadway shows. Congratulation to you and son for the show. 👍 Morissette song here was like a marathon runner. Very tense.

Thank you for doing a reaction video to Morissette's rendition of "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" on the Wish Bus. Glad that you first made some research about this song and looked for its English translation so that you would understand its lyrics and its message. Based from what I've also read, this was written by Sheryn Regis, also a notable Filipino singer, from her personal perspective, and it was written in English, then Jonathan Manalo, a musical director and songwriter, collaborated with her and wrote it in Filipino. It was actually Sheryn who's the original singer. Then, this song was included in the soundtrack of the Philippine TV drama series "The Broken Marriage Vow" about infidelity, and the production team, particularly Jonathan Manalo, handpicked Morissette to do the interpretation. Although Morissette was not in such a toxic relationship that the song is about, Jonathan is said to have talked to her and asked her to "internalize" the song, to put herself in the character, of someone who's deeply in love but at the same wanting to let go. And so, because of her delivery of this song, with her beautiful tone as you've said is one of the best that we've listened to, plus her masterful story-telling ability, the use of dynamics, build-up, and her signature squeaks and little growls to convey the emotions of sadness, pain, confusion, grit and resolve, and her gorgeous belts and amazing breath control, this Morissette version of the song became viral and trending, specially in the Philippines. It's one of the most difficult OPM (Original Pilipino Music), as it demands a lot from the singer, with that continuous belting towards the end and even with a key change at that, and a lot of emotions to portray. "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" (The Broken Marriage Vow OST) has been named the Philippines' National Winner for "Best Theme Song or Title Theme" in the 2022 Asian Academy Creative Awards. 🥰🏆
Next please make a reaction to her Wish Bus performance of another OPM "Shine". It was written by a Filipino songwriter Trina Belamide for a songwriting competition where it won as runner-up, made popular by the "Asia's Songbird" Regine Velasquez, and to celebrate the song's 25th anniversary, Trina chose Morissette to make a rendition.

Her tone is a piecing warmth. This is what grabbed me, when I first heard her 5 yrs ago , and the way she conveys the lyrics. You don't need translation , IMO , knowing what she is singing about. She has NEVER had voice training.....she took a few months of breath control when she was around 14....but what you hear is all self taught.
Morisette has grown up from the start around music,not only because of being Filipino but her father is a rock singer so it’s definitely in her genes and her superb gift just comes effortlessly and naturally and of course training from a young age

that is why So Hyang for me is only second to Mori, So hyang can sing but she lacks emotion in the lyrics that she sings she can hit it but it is just that, but Mori on the other hand is the Queen, the goddess of singing with emotion, you do not need lyrics to understand what Mori's singing, you just have to see (her facial expression) and hear (the squicks, the wailing, the cracks, the crying sound and all) and it will transport you to another world/realm.
And this is why I have always said, she is a LIVE Performer.
Listening to her on Spotify or any other Major Music platform, is just not the
same. She sings from her heart. looking into her eyes, watchin her expressions and seeing her perform including her entire body can not be duplicated.

Her versatility is unmatched by the Korean. Her Mirror and Will You Stay live performances and the Bruno Mars medley are great examples. She was smooth, soulful, and her diction is perfect and clear. She can do rock too.
This was a great reaction, thank you for your thoughtful commentary. You hit on so many of the things that make her my favorite singer. Her voice is my favorite timbre-wise (and in general) of any singer I've ever heard, and as someone who's also classically trained, I find myself constantly amazed by how spot on her natural instincts are despite not having extensive training, herself. She had a bit of musical theatre training earlier in her career, but I believe that is it for formal training. She just has a rare and special gift, imo. I'll have to go back and see what of hers you've already reacted to before I request something else, but for now, thanks again for this reaction!

One of the things that I've come to realize about what makes Morissette so great is the difference between perfection and near perfection. Even in these live settings there isn't the slightest mistake in Mori's performances. With other excellent singers doing live performances, I can almost always identify some small errors or defects which are natural with mortal singers, but Mori is somehow above that. Everything with her is perfection.

Some great insights. I really enjoyed how you tried to explain her tone. It's just in that perfect timbre that the ear likes. It's low but she can get high in the clouds without sounding forced. She belts like a demon. Appreciate you dad. Oh and yes, she's a great story teller.
