I failed my written test. The trainer said I can attend another class. But I guess this is not for me and will no longer pursue lifeguarding. I am working full time and trying to have lifeguarding as a side hustle. Training is hard 2 days of intensive training and I don't have that much time off and not sure if I'm willing to pay another $380 for another session. I'm 40 and maybe this is not for old people like me. During the class I'm the only adult and my classmates are all teenager which makes it more akward for me.

Sorry to hear that. Back when I took the lifeguard course it was 150 dollars to sign up, so it was definitely a different time haha. Also there was an older lady in my class in her 50s and I actually knew her because she was a phenomenal diver at a public pool I went to. We used to dive off the diving board and talk while in line. I understand how u may feel a little out of place, but I promise you it’s worth it. The fact that you got to this point, taking the final written test means that u did everything else by the book. You just have to get the material to stick. You could either try again with the material fresh in your mind or take a break for a bit and reset. Let me know if u have any questions and I’d be happy to help if u give it another shot!

Please make a video discussing cpr and ventilation breaths. Maybe a quiz video where you tell us about the person and then after we practice tell us what we needed to have done for the specific person and condition.

had my first shift, you covered all of it, but there was a kid that was kind of special breaking rules and it was hard to enforce rules with him while being kind. any adivce or you could make a video about how to deal with younger children

You have to be patient and explain why u want them to stop. Could be because they could slip and fall or hit their head or whatever. But u have to stay cool and patient. I made this video about getting ppl to listen to you as a lifeguard, this may help:

Hey Adam, I noticed that they don't teach how to apply a tourniquet in the lifeguard course. I would think that this is clearly a better, more timely, and effective way of treating a victim with a serious cut to control the bleeding.
What are your thoughts about using a tourniquet as a lifeguard?
Since it is not taught in the course, if a lifeguard uses a tourniquet to control the bleeding, will it be considered negligence?
Why doesn't the Red Cross teach tourniquet use in their classes?
Thank you in advance for any information you are able to provide towards my questions. I love the channel! Keep up the good work!
    Ronnie

only reason u should use a tourniquet is if it's a carotid artery not just because they are bleeding so they don't really teach that
