Dope is the song that introduced me to BTS. This song spoke to me on a deeper level. I was a trainee doctor during this song came out and my life was so hectic and tiring back then and when I watch this and understand the message behind this song, it helped me get through my stressful life as a junior doctor. I get motivated and it pushed me to go on. And now, I’m doing my Master in Emergency medicine and yeah the hard work payed off. I’m a successful doctor now and forever will be an Army of BTS.
As a teacher i really want to teach this song to my students because i hope they read the message as you did. Hard work pays off.. and if you allow me i will show them your response
And this was back in 2015, that's when people started to really realize these boys were a force to be reckoned with. :D A few years later, and they're sitting on top of the world.
The song was so special to so many because like the doctor said it got many through a stressfull part of their life. So many young professionals work all day in Korea only to go home to small apartments as they do not have the money for anything else in life. That is what RM is rapping about during his part when he was saying no 3 , no 5, at first people in Korea had no time for marriage, courtship, childbirth. Then it went to even to employment, home ownership. It has even grown since then to personal relationships, health, hope. Some say even more is physical appearance and life. Life in Korea is very hard for young adults as they can not succeed in todays economy in the welfare state. Today in America things are becoming much the same. So people can relate to the song even today, who knows how long this song will be relatable. That is what makes BTS so specialinter
For some reason I always look forward to your BTS reactions. I also love classical music, but at the same I also listen to BTS. Their music and the production are just the best. Thank you!
The one in the shorts, V, was a detective. A story about “Dope”: very early in their careers, when they were being treated very badly by award shows and broadcasting networks, RM was sick and this was used as an excuse to bump BTS from the performances at a concert or award show that was being broadcast. The fans were horrendously disappointed. One thing about BTS that the KPop industry did not reckon with, was that they were not dependent on traditional means of promotions for their popularity and fan base... mainly because they were systematically cut off from these traditional methods as their company was not in the Big Three. The boys however went onstage after the broadcast portion and with no lights and cameras, they performed their hearts and souls out for their fans. I think this was the first reckoning that the KPop industry had with what a juggernaut BTS is... the audience was screaming for them. When it came to RM’s part of the song, they rapped his part... until they came to the bit where he was simply too fast for them. I think you guys need to see some of their concert performances and live performances to see how their charisma connects their music with the audience as well.... you can’t understand BTS without that. I sincerely appreciate your journey of discovery! You guys are awesome!
One of my favorites from their earlier days is "Bullet Proof part 2" For the dance breaks though...MAMA 2020. Suga was out recovering from shoulder surgery and love they showed him was great, but the Dynamite dance break had us in awe!
2:31 when RM talks about giving up in 3 or 5... he's talking about the younger generation giving up on things previous gens could achieve like a house or a family. Sam-po generation (3) refers to young Koreans who are having to “give up” three life accomplishments - dating, marriage, and childbirth - due to the socioeconomic climate in Korea. Later, oh-po (5) generation became a common term, adding careers and buying a home to the list of things young Koreans can’t obtain. Chil-po generation (7 give-up generation) has also been used, where giving up on one’s personal relationships and any hopes or dreams are also included in the list.
Please react to BTS MEDLEY LIVE STAGE (Dope + Silver Spoon + Fire + Run) this performance was crazy. I hope you gonna react to this vedio. Thank you love ARMY💜☺️
Yeah Dope is hella Dope & Fire is gonna be Fire.... I tell u BTS has lots of contents their Discography is vast & always so versatile & interesting coz they ve Songs for every people/listeners with different taste... Can't wait for u guys to check out their #Melon Music Award(MMA) 2019 Live performances its Epic also #MMA 2018
Although the title is translated simple as "Dope," the word Jjeoroh"(dope) is a play on word. "Jjeoroh" in Korean slang means dope, but the actual meaning is "drenched." In the lyrics, they say they work hard, "drenched/swamped ("jjeorh")" in sweat/work, which made them to be "dope ("jjeorh")"
The guy in the shorts, V, was playing a character that's a famous fictional detective in Korea. I had to look it up, too, lol! Love your understated but very genuine reactions.
Technically Detective Conan is from a Japanese anime. All members of BTS except for JHope have said that they are big anime/manga fans. But V especially seems to be a fan since he dressed as detective Conan in this video, and another anime character in their 21st Century Girl Halloween dance practice video.
This was the first bts song I listened to, even though I became a fan years later. I get chills everytime I watch this music video because you can really tell how badly they wanted to make it. I'm just so proud of them 😭 all their hard work truly paid off
Totally! I listened to their music years before watching the MVs, and going back to discover them was such a trip. Our boys are really something else. 😍♡
“they just know the good songs to send to us apparently…” You would be hard-pressed to find any bad BTS song in their discography. And I don’t say that lightly. There may be a song maybe you don’t vibe as much with, but it’s still a good song. Also sometimes songs you don’t gravitate towards at first can become songs that are so near and dear to your heart months later. Anyway enjoy the journey!
Dope’s concept has helped me a lot …. Like working hard in early early twenties or late teens is now somehow hard to do because everyone is just busy promoting “living your life” by having fun by partying and clubbing or travelling and stuff like that…. I never really liked those things but tbh I was really confused whether I should ease up a lil bit and start doing those things too … but thanks to this song I’ve realised what I wanted all along and now it’s crystal clear ….I’m not against partying or enjoying life or anything but I also want to work hard to achieve my dreams . 💜 I can’t explain how much this helped me but it sure made me an army forever
oh plleaasseeeeeee do blood sweaat and tears thankk youu for your reactionsss, and bts have no bad songs like really...even the songs that arent suggested too
Dope was the first video of bts I saw. I was so against boy bands all my life. But I found myself watching it again and again, not understanding fully how captivating the music, lyrics, energy and talents in one video. Then I bought it on iTunes…my very first Korean language song in my plethora of different genres of music, mainly heavy metal. Then I slowly checked out more videos. Kept buying more and more of bts music. When I got to buying 10 of their foreign language songs and listening to them over and over again without even “stanning” or knowing the group, I realized I found my new love of music. That’s when I went to the rabbit hole of bts. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life.
Man this takes me back to those times, I used to watch out for reaction channels back then and always try to request this song. BTS was still relatively smaller so seeing everything change now, where they're literal living legends, is so heartwarming to me. Great reaction!
First song if bts I ever heard and introduced me to the world of kpop. I loved the rap and the sax. It was something I had never heard together before.
I think the timing and idea behind this song was perfect. It was around the time that Kpop was starting to gain more recognition and this song is a very good introduction to Kpop. I feel like it is not too foreign to western audiences and is easily appreciatable. The dancing was incredible too.
👀you should look up their live band/concert version of Dope. It’s excellent. I know they’ve done it in some 2021 performances, but I bet there are older ones too.
Dope was the first song I saw/heard of BTS and also my first kpop song so this is extremely nostalgic to me haha it opened my eyes that there’s a whole other world of music I didn’t even know existed 😂
You guys are doing a great job! Kind of following the same path I did and even picking up a couple of great ones I didn't discover until much later. Next three faves you'll love: Fake Love, Blood Sweat & Tears and Not Today.
"Dope"was my first BTS song/MV. And I have been lost in love ever since. They are all dressed as the professions they wanted to be when they were kids. V is dressed like some Korean kids show character. I think he was a detective maybe. Lol
Fire is a good followup. Dope is playing in the background at the beginning. V's suit was like a popular TV detective. This was a time when all the top designers were putting out suits with shorts. I think I read once that this one was Gucci. Could be wrong.
Dope was so hot with this spécial energy when BTS was younger. The old albums are the best. I have all the collection of them. This group have a lot of different styles and the lyrics are very interesting. In all mv visual there are a lot of informations to decrypt with intellectuals referencies.
BTS is on a break now, the 2nd time in 8.5 years. Not sure for how long, probably 3 weeks till the end of the Year. Otherwise they get one day off a month.
Any day now, you two are going to be on screen wearing BTS merch and telling us who your biases are (or vowing to keep it a secret). I can just feel it. You’re basically at BTS / KPop reaction channel now. Embrace it!
The guy in the suit with the shorts is Kim TaeHyung ( V ), and he’s representing Detective Conan who happens to be a character in an anime. Don’t you guys feel the need to know who they are by now ? Aren’t you curious to know a bit about who you are reacting too ? If so, do check out The Most Beautiful Life Goes On : Story Of BTS ( the 2021 updated version). You can at least get to know them and how they were chosen to become BTS, a bit of their hardships and accomplishments. Idk, I guess if it was me, I would be curious by now to get to know them, just saying
I think you will also like the festa performance as it has a compilation of some of their songs in. It showcases their different styles too, from slow, r&b, hip hop to pop
I laughed momentarily at the "there was a lot of dancing in that" before I realized you were serious. But then I realized you've mostly been reacting to lyric videos. Which is fine when you want to know what a song is about or if you are just reacting to a song musically. But first rule of kpop- it's half about the music, half about the performance. BTS is a great example of an extremely musically talented group who also excel in dance and presentation. It adds SO MUCH to every song. I would recommend catching some of their live performances. Even of songs you already like and have reviewed. Even dance practice vids show the choreo in a more laid back setting but are always impressive.
I wasn’t into kpop back in 2015 but even I know this song. It kinda blew up. To bad I didn’t know the meaning of the song at that time, otherwise I might be ARMY earlier..
Yeah they have a lot songs and all of it is really really good 😊 thank you for reacting on this one of my favorite song well actually all of their song is my favorite 😁, waiting for the Introduction of BTS reaction. God Bless guy's 🤗💜💜💜
I think it’s Time yall react to a bts album I recommend Map of the soul 7 and BE Both were released in 2020 And also “love yourself album series” which includes 3 albums-tear,her,answer
The way I knowwwww what time yguys are posting your vids in my local time. Its exactly at 9pm, just in time for my pre-sleep scrolling :) I'm kinda getting hooked with your Outro 😂 "Dope" is a song that basically says "you're dope for working hard for your dreams, wake your sleeping youth up and go for it" it's...kinda dope 😊
BTS uses music to make statements. Also, all their songs are amazing. I have no skips in the Discography. None. Zero. They are amazing dancers. J-Hope danced hip hop from a young age. He competed. Jimin went to an arts school and was trained in contemporary dance. Jungkook, the youngest, can do anything. Check out the 3Js (Jhope, Jimin and Jungkook).
Please react to Spine Breaker - the music video that BTS filmed on their hotel floor. The song is about kids asking for material items their parents can't afford.
You should react to fake love, blood sweat n tears, most importantly react to "The most beautiful moment in life bts story update 2021". This will give you alot of details of BTS.
Question: Has there ever been a time where you failed to catch the ball?

Exactly!!! I think they got it, but sometimes people don't realize that their outfits are strongly connected to the full meaning of this song
I highly recommend 'I'll be missing you' cover by BTS on BBC lounge. They did it with their live band. And they did justice to the song. 💜

Detective Conan. Popular japanese Anime character .
I used to watch that in the US when I was a kid! It used to air on Cartoon Network dubbed in English in the late 90s/early 2000s XD

I have watched the dance rehearsal video to this more times than I can count. Their dancing is just exceptional....so so impressive.
You could try reacting to their song "LOUDER THAN BOMBS" it's such a masterpiece and has a very deep meaning. The melody and the LYRICS gives chillsss

Please react to Spine Breaker - the music video that BTS filmed on their hotel floor. The song is about kids asking for material items their parents can't afford.
Daechwita Suga raps solo as August D. Check out Daechwita. Totally on point song & story etc with a lot of Korean historical flavor.
DOPE was THAT SONG!! you know what i mean 😍🤩😛 FIREEEE!!
I Need U brought me in the Fandom but Dope cemented my decision
Loved your reactions ☺️☺️☺️☺️
🙏🙏🙏🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭💜💜 Thank you🙏
I love that song
Dope is one of my favorites including the song Baepsae.
You should react to fake love, blood sweat n tears, most importantly react to "The most beautiful moment in life bts story update 2021". This will give you alot of details of BTS.
Omg please react to louder than bombs
