I loved your reaction. This song is 10 years old, but still one of her best. The guy from this video is also in "Blue Jeans", they are kind of twin songs/music videos, and also in "Shades of Cool". Lana said that the actor reminded her of her ex, who was a bad guy, a gangster not good for her, but she was with him, even if their relationship was "born to die" - it wouldn't last long and was destined to end right from the start. Meanwhile, she wanted to have fun till it lasted.
Loved the reaction! Plus who is old here u guys look great! “Born to Die” has another meaning which is that the relationship is doomed to fail from the beginning so it was “Born to Die”. Both of them knew that it’s not going anywhere but they want to get the beat out of this short experience. Thats how I see it at least. Cant wait for more Lana Content. I would suggest The Blackest Day.
What I love most about Lana del Rey, is that even the people who don't love her music or don't prefer it, can never say that her music doesn't make them feels something. She might make you feel something controversial or dark or sad, but you will always feel something intense when you really listen to her music
i think she was also referring to the relationship coming to an end. Not just their lives (at some point). The guy seemed weird and kinda aggressive towards her and he basically put their lives in danger by kissing her while driving which ultimately leads to her death. So it was a toxic relationship
Sir you are absolutely correct! If you close your eyes while listening to a Lana song, you Will be engulfed and put in a trance without a doubt. That's what I like about her music.
She's an type of artist that really is a gatekeeper of her own artistry so she intentionally created this production like this telling the story of a relationship that wasn't good for her and could eventually result in her death if she would have carried on with it. The relationship was bound to end, it started to learn her what she didn't need and then it could end. That was where "we were born to die" was coming from, although I found it nice and funny how you guys gave a whole new definition to her metaphor.
what’s interesting too is that she said in a spotify podcast i think that born to die was about her first love, which was alcohol, because she was an alcoholic at 14 years old. which makes it more true, that it was bound to lead to her death if she had carried on.
It could be read that the reason he crashed is he wasn't paying attention to the road when he kissed her. Sometimes living too hard hastens death. The entire song (and video) is sweetly melancholic. Life is beautiful, but there is always the sadness of knowing it won't last.
Im so glad you are loving Lana, I higly recomend you "California" "Blue Banisters" "Cruel World" or the double video from "F*ck it love you/ The greatest" Sending u both of you good vibes

@@Cinnamongirl4life Yes! I had another theory on the scenes in the mansion/kingdom/cathedral! Maybe that’s her mind’s kingdom? Her worth, self love? It’s bright in the beginning and goes darker near the end, before she opens that door to whiteness. Maybe that represents her trust, love degrading? Her on the throne could be her inner monologue/thoughts. Because she looks serious but also sometimes playful and hurt. When she walks to the doors that open to white, she no longer has her flower crown (or her previous garments; they seem lighter). Maybe the brighter beginning represents the feeling of the emotion and why by the end, she’s walking through a dark, more narrow environment. The first few lines are my favourite from this song. It sounds to me like the title means the relationship of "we" was born to die, and not the actual people in it, like they're two very firey people and the relationship is doomed to blow up into flames if they don't break it off while they still can. In the first few lines it sounds like she decided to leave him, but every step she takes towards the exit, her heart breaks and her feet are about to fail her because she's going agains instinct, and the line "but i'm hoping at the gates, they'll tell me that you're mine" almost sounds like she's about to leave paradise, and hoping at the gates someone will tell her it was all just a test and she can actually keep the guy. Great lyrics. So further in the song it sounds like every time she feels lonely she goes back to him, and every time she says "this is the last time" cause we weren't meant to be more, but she once again goes back to him.
In my perspective, you guys are so right! But that one kiss was something like "this could be our last kiss because we aren't promised another minute on this earth so i'm going to kiss with all the life force in me everytime like its our last" and at the end when lana is dead and he's holding her, at least they shared that last passionate kiss on their journey!

I feel like “born to die” is about Her knowing that the relationship is doomed to fail and I feel like the part at the end where she is dead and he was holding her it’s kind of representing that the relationship ended and they both knew it was going to but she came out worse then he did
