      @@dxb8086 considering I was raised by hippie grandparents who blasted classic rock, from Led Zeppelin to Black Sabbath, my entire childhood, I think I’m pretty familiar with rock. and yes, Ultraviolence is a rock album. it’s quite literally categorized as such. it’s heavily influenced by psychedelic rock, in particular. clearly you’re the one with little classic rock experience if you can’t recognize these influences. tragic :(

    I loved your reaction. This song is 10 years old, but still one of her best. The guy from this video is also in "Blue Jeans", they are kind of twin songs/music videos, and also in "Shades of Cool". Lana said that the actor reminded her of her ex, who was a bad guy, a gangster not good for her, but she was with him, even if their relationship was "born to die" - it wouldn't last long and was destined to end right from the start. Meanwhile, she wanted to have fun till it lasted.

    i think she was also referring to the relationship coming to an end. Not just their lives (at some point).
    The guy seemed weird and kinda aggressive towards her and he basically put their lives in danger by kissing her while driving which ultimately leads to her death.
    So it was a toxic relationship

    Sir you are absolutely correct! If you close your eyes while listening to a Lana song, you Will be engulfed and put in a trance without a doubt. That's what I like about her music.

  • @thepearlprince9290
    @thepearlprince9290 2 роки тому +73

    She's an type of artist that really is a gatekeeper of her own artistry so she intentionally created this production like this telling the story of a relationship that wasn't good for her and could eventually result in her death if she would have carried on with it. The relationship was bound to end, it started to learn her what she didn't need and then it could end. That was where "we were born to die" was coming from, although I found it nice and funny how you guys gave a whole new definition to her metaphor.

    • @harleyquiinnnn
      @harleyquiinnnn 6 місяців тому

      what’s interesting too is that she said in a spotify podcast i think that born to die was about her first love, which was alcohol, because she was an alcoholic at 14 years old. which makes it more true, that it was bound to lead to her death if she had carried on.

    It could be read that the reason he crashed is he wasn't paying attention to the road when he kissed her. Sometimes living too hard hastens death. The entire song (and video) is sweetly melancholic. Life is beautiful, but there is always the sadness of knowing it won't last.

    One focal meaning is; we are born to eventually die. However, another is; their relationship was born/bound to die. Numerous hints throughout the video allude this:
    - Him grabbing her neck in the bed, with her emotional expression.
    - Him grabbing her chin after she tries to look away, then struggles to look away again.
    - Him making a gun gesture against her forehead.
    - Him appearing in the background while making a neck throat-slicing gesture.
    - Him looking at her in the car, to which she turns away.
    The scenes of her on the throne show someone with confidence, seriousness, vulnerability and fierceness. It appears to depict a realm after life; describing what she went through with realisation.
    And the ending shows his expression of disbelief, sadness and regret in that he recklessly killed her (crashing the car, during the kiss).

    • @Cinnamongirl4life

      THIS! i also saw the throne scenes/scenes in the fancy mansion were meant to be her in a sort of afterlife, like heaven.

    • @BH-bp1su
      @BH-bp1su 2 роки тому

      @@Cinnamongirl4life Yes! I had another theory on the scenes in the mansion/kingdom/cathedral! Maybe that’s her mind’s kingdom? Her worth, self love? It’s bright in the beginning and goes darker near the end, before she opens that door to whiteness. Maybe that represents her trust, love degrading?
      Her on the throne could be her inner monologue/thoughts. Because she looks serious but also sometimes playful and hurt. When she walks to the doors that open to white, she no longer has her flower crown (or her previous garments; they seem lighter).
      Maybe the brighter beginning represents the feeling of the emotion and why by the end, she’s walking through a dark, more narrow environment. We should think of ourselves as queens and kings; hence the flower crown (or that could represent flourishing love and why it’s gone at the end?).

    Unas de las mejores reacciones que ví💘 sus comentarios, sus perspectivas y lo atentos que estaban en cada segundo del video, fueron geniales. ellos entendieron el mensaje y ame la parte donde dicen algo como "al principio esta la vida y por último la muerte y en el medio la felicidad, de vivir constantemente en el presente" ame chicos! Saludos desde 🇦🇷

    The first few lines are my favourite from this song. It sounds to me like the title means the relationship of "we" was born to die, and not the actual people in it, like they're two very firey people and the relationship is doomed to blow up into flames if they don't break it off while they still can. In the first few lines it sounds like she decided to leave him, but every step she takes towards the exit, her heart breaks and her feet are about to fail her because she's going agains instinct, and the line "but i'm hoping at the gates, they'll tell me that you're mine" almost sounds like she's about to leave paradise, and hoping at the gates someone will tell her it was all just a test and she can actually keep the guy. Great lyrics. So further in the song it sounds like every time she feels lonely she goes back to him, and every time she says "this is the last time" cause we weren't meant to be more, but she once again goes back to him.

    In my perspective, you guys are so right! But that one kiss was something like "this could be our last kiss because we aren't promised another minute on this earth so i'm going to kiss with all the life force in me everytime like its our last" and at the end when lana is dead and he's holding her, at least they shared that last passionate kiss on their journey!

    I feel like “born to die” is about Her knowing that the relationship is doomed to fail and I feel like the part at the end where she is dead and he was holding her it’s kind of representing that the relationship ended and they both knew it was going to but she came out worse then he did

    Lana’s videos are very intentional with her videos, she helps curate the results. I interpreted this song as their love was toxic -full of passion and electricity- but toxic, hence their relationship being born to die.

    Looking through your reaction list I'm surprised that you haven't reacted to Angelina Jordan.. She's only 15 at the moment but has the most amazing voice.. She's recently signed to Republic Records.. She is Norwegian and won Norway has talent at the age of 7 or 8.. She was a contestant on AGT when she was 13.. Her first song was her take on the classic Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.. She's done loads of covers putting her own spin on them and has some original stuff as well.. Please check her out you won't be disappointed infact like many reactors you will be hooked.. Great lana reaction BTW.. Lot's of love from across the pond xxx 🙏😘🇬🇧👍
