  • Lana Del Rey in Born To Die. This was the Rock Singers' (My Guest) first time to hear Lana Del Rey. She really enjoyed Lana. I love how she picked up on various parts of the song and help analyze the song.
    Lana is so amazing.

Both of them knew that it’s not going anywhere but they want to get the beat out of this short experience. Thats how I see it at least. Cant wait for more Lana Content. • @BH-bp1su
    @BH-bp1su 2 роки тому +5

    One focal meaning is; we are born to eventually die. However, another is; their relationship was born/bound to die. Numerous hints throughout the video allude this:
    - Him grabbing her neck in the bed, with her emotional expression.
    - Him grabbing her chin after she tries to look away, then struggles to look away again.
    - Him making a gun gesture against her forehead.
    - Him appearing in the background while making a neck throat-slicing gesture.
    - Him looking at her in the car, to which she turns away.
    The scenes of her on the throne show someone with confidence, seriousness, vulnerability and fierceness. It appears to depict a realm after life; describing what she went through with realisation.
    And the ending shows his expression of disbelief, sadness and regret in that he recklessly killed her (crashing the car, during the kiss).

    • @Cinnamongirl4life
      @Cinnamongirl4life 2 роки тому +1

      THIS! i also saw the throne scenes/scenes in the fancy mansion were meant to be her in a sort of afterlife, like heaven.

    • @BH-bp1su
      @BH-bp1su 2 роки тому

      @@Cinnamongirl4life Yes! I had another theory on the scenes in the mansion/kingdom/cathedral! Maybe that’s her mind’s kingdom? Her worth, self love? It’s bright in the beginning and goes darker near the end, before she opens that door to whiteness. Maybe that represents her trust, love degrading?
      Her on the throne could be her inner monologue/thoughts. Because she looks serious but also sometimes playful and hurt. When she walks to the doors that open to white, she no longer has her flower crown (or her previous garments; they seem lighter).
      Maybe the brighter beginning represents the feeling of the emotion and why by the end, she’s walking through a dark, more narrow environment. We should think of ourselves as queens and kings; hence the flower crown (or that could represent flourishing love and why it’s gone at the end?).

    The first few lines are my favourite from this song. It sounds to me like the title means the relationship of "we" was born to die, and not the actual people in it, like they're two very firey people and the relationship is doomed to blow up into flames if they don't break it off while they still can. In the first few lines it sounds like she decided to leave him, but every step she takes towards the exit, her heart breaks and her feet are about to fail her because she's going agains instinct, and the line "but i'm hoping at the gates, they'll tell me that you're mine" almost sounds like she's about to leave paradise, and hoping at the gates someone will tell her it was all just a test and she can actually keep the guy. Great lyrics. So further in the song it sounds like every time she feels lonely she goes back to him, and every time she says "this is the last time" cause we weren't meant to be more, but she once again goes back to him.

    Please please please listen to RIDE, it's a masterpiece, the video starts with a small monologue before the single itself but it's one of my favourite singles ever. Superior to this just imo.
    He meant to kill her. I think that's the reason for the underlying tension, the urgency of the the kiss was to take away her concentration. She adores him but doesn't trust him, I thought that was the reason for the intense passion juxtaposed with the uneasy glances.
    I don't particularly rate the follow up song to this but the same actor is in the video and his sinister intentions come to light again. But please please listen to RIDE, if you never listen to another, you will love both the video and single which is poignant and a masterpiece xx💕

    Nice reaction, however... Lana is the one who does her video ideas. If you break down the song with the locations and what's happening you get a much darker story. The car scenes are before the accident, she's excited to see him and ready to go. Then as he speeds into the night she realizes he's not good for her, he's reckless and dangerous. She stares out the window, trapped. She looks at him and when he glances over and she immediately looks away almost in disgust. The kiss is not one of love, it's possession, he grabs her and forces her to face him as he ignores the road and what is coming ahead. The second shot is the throne room, with her halo of flowers and the tigers. This is the afterlife. She's on her throne and lamenting her life and death, telling her story. If you watch her face she is not recalling love, she has anger and regret in her eyes. The third location is the shadow cathedral, the place of transition. She's all in white, very sad and dark. As the shadows cross her you get glimpses of the guy who put here there in purgatory. When she's on the bed he appears next to her with his hand at her throat. And when he's behind her in the closet he makes the throat slit motion across his neck. Then she walks through the shadow cathedral towards the light, the door at the end and she finally she steps into the white light...the afterlife. Like others have said this song/video is about a bad relationship that ends tragically. Then you see the final scene where he's holding her dead body with the flames of the crash he caused all around them.

    Seem to remember her saying she naturally has a higher voice but sings lower because she thought people wouldn't take her as seriously with the high voice.

    Mariners Apartment Complex is a very atmospheric song, but overall, Lana is more of a crooner than an Enya-like singer.
