I absolutely get what you mean by feeling happiness with such sad songs. I think it's life balancing itself out and helping us appreciate the feeling of sadness therefore reminding us of how diverse life is and how lucky we are to experience so many contrasting emotions. One of my many lana rants are about how she's known for being an artist with no joy, when she mostly writes about life as it is and is the only one that actually makes me love life even more, she's very underrated in that aspect imo, but I also understand people might need to connect to the art to experience my same happiness in listening to songs like old money or bartender.
