    a vid that's to the point, without a narrator that loves his own voice or believes his music must be listened to and hasn't been over prepared! thanks, gotta be the easiest how-to I've watched, cheers!

    Hello Fix Stop! You saved my phone! I dunked my 5x in the water and the display stopped registering touch input. I cracked open the case, removed the mother board, after watching this video, and dried out the inside a bit. Now it's working perfectly. Thanks! Great video!

    This is a GREAT video! I used it just now to replace the screen on my Nexus 5X, saving myself about $250 in costs after ordering the replacement screen and doing the DIY repair. THANK YOU!

    Spectacular video! Thanks for helping me save my phone that I dropped in a bathtub full of water. With your video I successfully pulled off the back cover and the next layer, and dabbed dried it with paper towels and then wrapped all three pieces in paper towels and put them into a gallon-sized zip-lock bag full of instant rice (some people on the internet say uncooked rice is worthless; only instant rice is useful) for 36 hours. My phone is working like a charm!

    Hands down the best tutorial I've come across on replacing a screen. I especially appreciated the time you took to identify the parts and point out specific areas to be more careful that are prone to breaking. My phone works like new again!

    Thank you man. You are really awesome. My phone fell on the floor and it was saying no sim card.I knew that there probably was a connection problem so just took it apart and put it back together - worked great.

    Great video. If you have issues with your proximity sensor not working after swapping out the screen/frame, make sure you grabbed the gasket under the foam padding that is mentioned @10:55. This padding and the gasket underneath need to be transferred over to the new frame. Otherwise, you will likely be stuck with a black, unresponsive screen during phone calls. I used an Exacto knife to remove the foam without damaging it.

    Best teardown of the Nexus 5x! Thanks! Helped me with the disassembly of notification LED where other videos glossed over. In fact I thought it was the mic.

    Thanks very much!
    Had the LG 'Boot Loop' issue, was about to get a new phone before stripping it down, prising the covers off the chips on the motherboard (only there for safety requirements I think) and blasting both side of the motherboard with a hot hairdryer for 3-5 minutes. Re-assembled sans the chip covers, and bam! worked for a full 20 minutes before crashing again.
    I believe it's due to poor contact with the soldering: solder contracting and expanding over a long period will eventually form cracks, and eventually breaks contact (this is why you should never blow on your solder!).
    An easier method to try is sticking it in the freezer (contract the connections) which also works. Either way, hope this helps grab any precious files you may have on there.

    Thanks for the video! After dropping my phone in the toilet it wouldn't charge. I took it apart and cleaned out the battery connection. There appeared to be some corrosion there so I just brushed it off with a nylon brush and blew it off. I also brushed out the charging port. After putting it back together it was able to charge again just fine. :)

    Awesome video. Just dropped mine this morning and even with a protective case the screen cracked in a thousand pieces (ironically I've had cheap stuff take bigger hits). Anyway, just watched this, phone is now stripped to the frame and ready to swap over to new frame and screen.
    Would you buy a genuine LG replacement screen or are the cheaper non-genuine ones ok?

    I replaced a screen assembly bought from Repairs Universe and everything works fine except I can't get the proximity sensor to work. Any hints? I'll have to dig through the trash to find the original broken assembly to see if I missed a part in the transfer.

    I know it's an old video, but I need a piece of advice regarding the motherboard. My Daughter's phone burned out the charging port. Could I change out the whole motherboard and still have everything be the same, storage wise and such? (Similar to changing a motherboard on a PC?)

    • @fixstop4438
      @fixstop4438  5 років тому +1

      The motherboard holds the memory and all the information from the phone so that wouldn't be possible. Buying a new motherboard for a phone is like just buying a new phone. Charging Port replacements are possible but I've found that the parts found online are not the same as the original so they don't fit perfectly.

    Wait so there is no physical storage unit? Like no SD card? Where does the phone store the memory!?

    • @RyanKlapperich
      @RyanKlapperich 5 років тому

      There's a flash storage drive integrated with the motherboard. There was 16 GB and 32 GB versions.

    Why is my phone so f***ing impossible to take apart? At 4:30 you just slide it in and pull it apart, but mine is freaking rock solid. I can't get anything under that clip...
    Edit: It worked with a razor.
