This is a bit off topic but I am mid 30s and I have a hard time attracting mature men because I look more like a college student. Even when I dress maturely. I work with college students and even though I dress professionally and wear my badge and keys around my neck I still get mistaken for a student. After several months of dating a guy whom things were going great with I was shocked when he asked to see my id. Most of the men who aren't afraid to approach me are old enough to be my dad. I prefer someone I can age together with. I am happy that I am aging beautifully but it sometimes feel like a curse. It's just really hard for me to meet people.
Less people want to be in committed relationships. Most people want casual encounters and hook ups. It's sad but it seems to be the direction society is moving in. I'm looking to meet the right women who will become my wife.

This year has been a big change for me my gf of five years broke up with me this past April because she wasn't being honest about her sexuality. It tore me apart i had planned on proposing this past October i had the ring and everything planned out, but she totally blindsided me when she told me she wants to be with a woman. I went through the initial phases of heartbreak and I have grown stronger because of it I am doing better than i have ever been in the past five years going to the gym, discovering new hobbies, going back to school to become a firefighter, so you think i would feel better, right? Let me share with you from the perspective of a busy woman ... you said you have been with her a long time, but you DIDN'T say you were moving toward marriage and being protector and provider for her. Hey Stephan i recently found your channel and the advice you provide has been very valuable to me. I was hoping to get your input of this situation i am currently dealing with. This year has been a big change for me my gf of five years broke up with me this past April because she wasn't being honest about her sexuality. It tore me apart i had planned on proposing this past October i had the ring and everything planned out, but she totally blindsided me when she told me she wants to be with a woman. I went through the initial phases of heartbreak and I have grown stronger because of it I am doing better than i have ever been in the past five years going to the gym, discovering new hobbies, going back to school to become a firefighter, so you think i would feel better, right? Well i find myself thinking about her more and more i truly love her more than anything and I have watched your video about how no one truly ever falls out of love. But she doesn't want to have anything to do with me. It's like i never mattered to her after five years. I thought we had a connection at least on my end, but i cant compete with what she truly wants or is. I don't know why i still hold hope praying that we can be together again I still love her but she doesn't love me. I don't think there's anything i can do except continue on with my life without her.

You are a brave man to come out in a public forum and ask for help -- you don't lack for courage!
Let me share with you from the perspective of a busy woman ... you said you have been with her a long time, but you DIDN'T say you were moving toward marriage and being protector and provider for her. What sadly happens is that after a while, if a man is not moving in that direction, a woman will slowly default to what already are her sources of provision or protection in terms of time spent.
Now, I am NOT saying you need to rush out and get married, because there is another component: "You don't understand..." Without knowing what her field is, can you be a source of WISDOM to her? "Baby, I hear you -- that must have been [fill in descriptor]! I'm here for you ... may I share a principle that helps me in situations like this?" When you share timeless wisdom in a relational way with a woman, you can become indispensable to her because there are very few places a woman can get that. You know her. You love her. You can become a source for her that no one else can.
That said: it's not all on you ... if she doesn't feel like it is a privilege to spend time with you, you need to let her know how you feel about her and how you expect her to respond and reciprocate. If she can't or won't, even in response to your making changes, you need to let her go.
