Pretty sure he was gutted… if you notice right as the rolled him they had a blurred spot on the ground that kinda looked like a gut pile.

@@lockgessner 15:28- "we spent the next few hours dressing and quartering the elk". Why would anyone gut an elk and then roll it up on its belly? All that would do is keep the heat in and help the meat to spoil! If I am wrong, they can tell me, and I'll apologize for being disgusted, but at this point, I don't think they can say that without lying.
