I just wanted to say your video helped me out alot could find where the coil wire went cause not good at electrical at all was almost gunna junking but after watching your video I went out and tried it and she fired up right away thanks for this video
@mustangmadmatt You hook the positive wire to the (+ pos) coil side neg to the points but when the power is on the coil don`t be farting around because the points are heating up if they are at contact NEVER HOOK UP POS WIRE TO THE POINTS ONLY POS + SIDE COIL condensers protect the points from to much power
@BEN FRANCIS, I have this the same motor and start/gen. and no it will not charge, you would have to connect another wire to the other lead on the generator and reconnect it to the battery to get it to charge
no because these engines don't have points on the flywheel. this is how I run my 1965 cub cadet 100 pulling tractor. just charge the battery the night before the pull and it will last all day running the engine a cooling fan. way better than have the generator on the actual engine, because of the weight. hope this helped

Thank you for making this video. i wouldve never found out that my coil wires were backwards!
Tried this and it absolutely fried my ignition coil
thanks, this video helped me get my cub 800 running
That motor sounds great. I wish my motor i just put new piston and rod in it would run like that.

what do u want to do with the motor that's tor up ?
Thanks man this helped me a lot
Can you bench start a Kohler? Do they require a battery to make spark?
is the battery getting recharged when it is wired like this

most likely the head is warped very rare the block is bad i have checked this with a thick piece of glass and a feeler guage
This exact hookup has COOKED two ignition coils. I would not recommend trying to use this besides seeing if the engine will run.

I paid $175 came out of a 127 that a guy was parting out in P,A.
I just bought an entire running 127 today with a mower deck and model 2 Tiller. gave $150 for it all!
