Super video! Thanks for the clear explanation! I have a cub cadet ltx1050kw where the battery is draining when the machine is on. I wasn't sure where to start. Now I do . . . many thanks!
My Cub 100 doesn't charge. I was worried I was going to have to get a new or rebuild my starter/generator. Definitely going to try this first. Thank you!
I have a new voltage regulator on my 127 Cub. When running at a moderate speed, the amp gauge is pegged in the positive. I checked the battery with my multimeter, and it’s charging at approximately 17.5 volts. Which way do I adjust the spring tension to drop the voltage down? Thanks!!
When I turn the key to start, it blows the fuse. Kohler engin sv330s, spec # PS-sv730-0011. I disconnected the starter, but it stills blows the fuse. Would that be the voltage regulator? It's in a Cub Cadet SLT1550. Any help would be appreciated.
@@515cubcadetguy9, could you replace your vintage solenoid V/R with a standard solid state V/R. It seems to me that the standard rectifiers would work, I would just use G-F as on the AC side and GRN- BAT on the DC side ?
This is great, did one of my inop. regulator following your video and works great. Could you show a video on the CCO & 70/100 cub cadet voltage regulator with the load terminal and how to properly set these. Great video! Thanks
Glad I could be of help! I've found this is the most likely cause of these things not charging. Also be sure the ground wire is connected. Happy to walk you through other things it might be too!
Very common problem. On most new voltage regulators, the terminals aren't laid out the same as the old ones. It's likely that the G on the bottom of the regulator is for Generator. You should hook up F to Field, G to Generator, B or Bat to the battery and leave the L terminal empty. Ground should go to a ground on the tractor. The regulator generally grounds through it's mounting tabs.
@@paulbarker1118 The one on the back is where Gen should go. Field wire (the small one from the starter/generator) goes to the F, Batt goes to the battery (should be 12v all the time) and you don't use L on a cub cadet (it would be for something like lights)

Well done, with basic information that actually works.

Fantastic sir .thank you for the video
Many thanks for the video.
Where do I find this regulator on an XT1?
You’re not going to find this on a cub cadet made since about 1975 or so. After that they are all solid state or electronic.

what would cause the braided ground strap to melt?
great video. I am hoping this is the fix i need to get my cub charging again. Thanks!

I have a 128 it has a 4 terminal volt regulator it batt, generator, field, ground. The one I got to replace is load, batt, field will it work?
I’d like to see where the voltage regulator is installed on my machine.
I bought a regulator and after installing it the engine turns over as soon as I hook the battery up. What am I doing wrong?

@@515cubcadetguy9 thanks for the advice, this really had mixed up. Would be ok to reply here if I have anymore questions?
@@515cubcadetguy9 just to clear things up. The 3 terminals on my new regulator are F,Batt, and L. The single terminal on the back isn't labeled at all

@@515cubcadetguy9 thanks a ton. Hopefully I didn't ruin the regulator hooking it up wrong. This has been a big help! Thanks again!
he said warren G.. hahahhaha .. 518 cubs heres. 2 on my chan
