Jammaster Jay discovered them. The producer is Sha Skills(RIP). Fredro Starr started it off. Sonny Caesar is second. The anchor man is Sticky Fingaz. Big DS(RIP) is the one who talks at the end. Fredro and Sticky are cousins. The crazy thing is, as hard as this goes, this is the "clean version"!😂
Wait! I didn't know Fredro and Sticky fingers are cousins? Plus are you saying the dark skinned brother of the group passed away., because I didn't know that either. Great info 👍🏽✌🏽
@@empire7179 Sonny Seeza, the dark skin guy is alive but doesn't perform with the group anymore. DS is the light skinned bald guy who talked at the end. He passed away. And the producer passed away.
Onyx, Wu Tang, M.O.P, Organized Confusion, Fu Shnickens, even das FX.. they got that punk rock energy but in rap form. Music you can head bang to and have a mosh pit. My favorite type of rap. that ra ra boom bap rap.
This is funny because Sticky Finga's actually busted his gun off at an award show performance lol! Onyx was wild! I even rocked the baldy for a second when they came out.
Fredro played on moesha as q he also played in the hood classic strapped onyx changed the game everybody in ny was rockin baldies after onyx dropped EVERYBODY
Dudes real bust a gun in the air at the Source Awards and got the gun away before the police can find it.. lol But either "Shiftee", "Last Dayz" or the collab with Wu Tang called "The Worse". "Slam" has a regular version and also has a rock version with the group Biohazard.
Great Reaction !!! I been commenting a video suggestion for about 1 year now for Xzibit - What You See is What You Get Video🔥🔥🔥 The Song is Fire & the Visuals is 1 of the Best Videos ever made !!! Yall both being into Film will Definitely Appreciate this 1 fore sure !!! 💯
lol jamaica queens has nothing to do with jamaicans lol at least not anymore maybe back in the day they had a heavy occupancies but thats just the city but there are a lot of jamacans everywhere in NY lol I am glad u guys are back man what happen to the other dude
Your observation is right heavy metal fans love this, im a huge heavy metal fan now but I listened to hip hop first and loved this, but once I started listening and going to metal shows and talking with ppl, this is like the of the most revered hip hop jawns they knew which I wasn’t surprised tho lol
These dudes ain't got nothing to do with 50 cent, they were on the map way before he even made a tape. Jam Master Jay and DJ Hurricane created and produced ONYX. Image, Style, Streets, was All the idea of Jason Mizell/JMJ. 👍🏿💯%
Actually that’s funny you say that. I was born and raised in Queens NY in the 80s as a kid & a teen in the 90s. My older brother of 15 years was into metal so of course I had my metal stage. But I grew up with hip hop. But the metal heads I knew only liked certain type of rap. Of course they didn’t like MC Hammer but they loved stuff like this. So that’s a true statement t. I was actually in the BiOnyx remix of slam. It was Onyx featuring Biohazard which was New York hardcore band from Brooklyn. I’m spotted slam dancing in the video a few times. I was 17 years old. It was a different time. Crazy show. Fun times
Have you heard Sir Mix-a-lot's remake of Iron Man by Black Sabbath? It's one of the first rap-metal masterpieces that dropped in 1988. I also love that Anthrax and Public Enemy collaboration for Bring Tha Noize.
And this is where the legend of STICKY FINGERS was born. His delivery,Flow, Was Cadence was before all other was the same vocal tone in Hip Hop. Then There was a flood of MCs with Deeper Vocals emerging.
Yeah this was their introduction to the world and at the time they created a whole genre of hip hop with all the super hype grimey yelling hardcore madness ish. Album so rough you can get locked up just listening to it. Slam was the next single and that was their biggest record.

hey, good observation about metalheads liking onyx. lots do, and onyx has done a bunch of crossover songs with biohazard. if you're looking for a taste, New World Disorder or Judgement Night are bangers.
They was signed to Jam Master Jay he was starting his own label when he got killed. 50 Cent was going to sign with him also until that happened. And No everyone from Jamaica Queens is not Jamaican. I mean even if it was they wouldn't have the power to change the name to Jamaica Queens. You mainly find Jamaicans and Haitians in Flatbush Brooklyn. And then sprinkled throughout the City. Using Jamaican lingo don't make you Jamaican.
They started a trend with the “grimey” rhyme style. There were a lot of groups that tried to come with this style for a hot minute afterwards. But, this clean version doesn’t give you the full picture…gotta hear the uncensored version. Nowadays, gun talk is common but when this originally dropped, it was considered very edgy.
@3:13 tha original (parental advisory) tape lyric was "set tha whole choir on fire" among other many omissions. They aint nuddin worse than PG gangsta rap. You should check out the unabridged version/directors cut/OG release of Bacdafucup!
