What's funny is the"iggeddy" style had a lot of the industry biting so they dropped it for this album (the second) to show it wasn't a gimmick. They wanted to make sure people knew they had bars.
IYou don't understand how hard this hit when it first came out! listened to this song before every race I ran in my high school track career. You guys need to check out Fu Schnickens!!1
They said they cant play "they want efx" today because of all the nursery rhymes ,but the lyrics in that song was put together brilliantly and was their biggest song they made. The record was so big because the lyrics had humor and lines from cartoon characters and commercials that young and older people can relate to. So it hit hard at all ages. Brilliant!
It started in 90 and was it's greatest in 94-95. I lived in Queens in 91 and in Brooklyn in 95. Big Daddy to Rakim to Nas EPMD & Hit Squad to ATCQ etc. but there was a time in the middle when Everybody was Poppin'! Between 93-94 Everyone you can think of at that time had a banger and none sounded the same, it will never happen again.
Bro said it right about the drake x Kendrick beef , they sound like bitches on real house wives shit , but real rap beef was fought with rhyme skills , these guys taking bout personal business
Das Efx, Redman, EPMD and K Solo- The Hit Squad, they were running hip hop back in the early 90’s. You need to react to EPMD Business As Usual Album, classic album
Das was very different at the time and other acts were quick to bite. They Want EFX was their first single. They did the hook for Ice Cube’s Check Yourself back when Cube was running the game and was a huge single. Real Hip Hop, Represent the Real f/KRS-One, and Mic Checka are other Das songs to check out.
I miss these niggaz so much. I listen to them all the time. Check out that "Hold It Down" album. Remember they used to beef with Lords Of The Underground?
I put these guys in a category with Bone and the Migos-all of them invented (or popularized) a gimmicky lyrical style, it was hard to tell the difference between the individual members, and none really distinguished themselves. (They also all had long hair.) Their impact is as a group. I f’ed with DAS heavy. BIG said they got better after they dropped the “iggedy,” but ironically dropped in popularity. But OG trippin saying he wouldn’t bump their first shh today, still goes hard!
I heard this song it was 1994 from the album called Straight Up Sewaside. i got the tape from my brother, we are in east africa. from there i listen all albums from them. the song was sampled " people" by Graham central station
What's happening with the big names today isn't really battle rap. It's more drama gossip rap. We used to travel to different cities and battle ppl at the movie theaters, subway or whatever. You had to have authenticity or go away. No exceptions! I don't listen to a bunch of millionaires rap about violence and drugs. Good reaction. And yea, Das wasn't here to be serious rappers. Just their own style. The new school makes music to make money. Originality isn't in their cards cause they copy what they see makes money. Wayne, NBA or whoever.
Damn, no disrespect, but who raised yall?! 😄I understand it being from before your time, but what did your parents, uncs and aunts listen too? Yall start so many videos talking about yall never heard of this one and that one, and it be legends yall be talking about, people with multiple hits! Also, if you never heard of some artists, alright it is what it is, but try to come with some respect, yall did better in this video, but in some prior videos yall came off like, you never heard of them so they must be trash, nah, that's what be making it hard to hit those like and subscribe buttons sometimes. Das EFX, for example, had 6 top 10 rap hits, and they weren't even the biggest rap group in the 90s. So, you aint gotta know them or like them, a honest reaction is always good, just keep coming with an open mind, and respect the fact that some of these artists did have a lot of success back then, even if you never heard about them. Maybe only do songs that were hits, until you get to 10k, keep it respectful and you'll be at 10k in a blink.
Crazy Drayzy(dude who rapped first) feels like Das Efx were The Migos before The Migos. Really it wouldnt surprise me, they were inspired buy a lot of groups from the 90's. Look at "Only Built For Infinity Links". It's blatant.
92-94 were the best years. 💯

Das Efx, Redman, EPMD and K Solo- The Hit Squad, they were running hip hop back in the early 90’s. You need to react to EPMD Business As Usual Album, classic album
We need a Das Efx album in 2024!!!

LEGENDS!

Das Efx was huge back then, they changed how rappers rapped back then....the entire hit squad ruled hip hop for a short minute
Buck Buck - Beating me is like the Bills beating Dallas 😂 Cold as hell for it's time.

One of the best rap city the basement features was the dipset one. And I'm not a big fan of theirs but that was good.

88-94,95 dopest era
The greatest year in hip hop, music period, was 1988. Easily!
Agree, I meant 1988 not 1998.
Big daddy Kane
Hawk-too spit it 8:15
Jersey Boys, that met at Georgia tech. Eric Sermon talks about there beginnings on the Drink Champs and Math Hoffa.

Back then it was a career ending move to bite or copy someone’s style. Today they will steal your whole style then tell on you
outkast patterned they flow after them
DONT EVER PUT EM and DAS in the same sentence EVER AGAIN!!!

Rapcity basement dipset freestyle
Naw you have to listen to ‘they want EFX’ yes it’s a lot of pop references but hidden metaphors, read the lyrics
It's very weird to me that there are so many reactions to this song and so few for their greatest 2 songs, they want efx and Mic checka
You need to review dip set basement freestyle. Lol cam count money during his whole freestyle..it wss dope and i don't even like dipset like that
CAMRON ON RAP CITY BASEMENT...HES FREESTYLING AND COUNTING HIS MONEY AT THE SAME TIME...CLASSIC BRO!!!
