bergen means mountaining
his original theme as in the collectors edition set of items is called "Bereavement" which means "a state of intense grief, as after the loss of a loved one"
which also speaks mountains unto itself
@@11TerrariaKidgood pun
The ASGORE theme is like a good person trying to do what's best for his people.
His entire music and fight is just a good king staring down the horrible decision he had to make and knowing at the end of the day, He's no better than the humans he declared war on so callously. He's a good man making a bad choice for the betterment of everyone but himself (in his eyes). It is further reinforced by how he is the only opponent to choose to deny the right to mercy. That button isn't for our benefit it's for his and he knows he probably doesn't deserve it and should face punishment for his crimes by the hand of one of the victims of them.
Burgentrucküng may also translate to “mountain king”. In genocide route, you fight sans in the “judgement hall”.
You could say that sans is fighting you…..
*in the hall of the mountain king.*

He would damn his own immortal soul for the good of his people.
Monster souls aren't immortal. This is a pretty well established point in the game :p
Bergentrückung refers to a motif in European folklore where a king or hero is not truly dead but is instead in a state of suspended animation, awaiting the right moment to return and restore his people to greatness. In the case of Friedrich Barbarossa, it is said that he did not die but is instead sleeping in the Kyffhäuser Mountain in Germany.
Bergentrücking Real Meaning:Excavation
bergentrückung is one of my favourite words. from what i've read about the word, it's basically german for "the sleeping mountain king." it's absolutely wonderful and 100% describes Asgore perfectly.
I knew that the name (unpronounceable as it is) of this music had a meaning but I didn't think it was so precise. However, I wonder why Toby Fox chose a German word for the name of this ost and not a word from another language... Anyway thanks for this explanation, it's actually really interesting !
I always gave Asgore a sort of german tinge to his accent in my head as I read his text.
Probably because it's an ancient trope (IIRC). And Asgore is ancient. So recalling something traditional by its name gives it a sense of power.
Aside from the trope suiting Asgore well, Germany is a strong candidate for the location of Mt. Ebott, as there is a mountain in Germany that may have been Mt. Ebott's inspiration.
@@Missingno_Miner Which mountain ?
@@Darkopal_ I believe it's called Steinberg. Aside from looking similar to Mt. Ebott and having a nearby village, some reddit post from years ago(Alas, I can't link to it, as UA-cam hates links and has an inexplicable talent for enforcing this hatred only for real people posting safe links, never the bot accounts spamming malicious links that this policy is supposedly intended to stop) claims that there are buttercups and other yellow flowers growing around and on it, and claims there are even myths about people disappearing in the area. They have pictures to prove the former, but don't go into much detail about the latter, and while they claim to have done so elsewhere, as well as to have posted more evidence to support the connection elsewhere, that's likely lost to time since their account is deleted and there's no real way to track those posts down.
It's hard to find much information about the mountain online, or about the nearby town, but it appears to be near Germany's border with the Czech Republic.
Then again, could just be a coincidence, like how there are real world-mountains named Mt. Ebott(Which we know is coincidental since it was probably intended as an earthbound reference, being named after Toby himself rather than any real mountain), in which case Mt. Ebott probably doesn't have any real-world inspiration at all. Honestly, I think that's more likely, but still, Germany is a strong candidate for Mt. Ebott's location.
Bergentrückung is an acronym, it stands for:
Burgers
Eating
Ramen
Going
Eenside (it's a double e bacause yes)
Nobody
Truck
Right?
Ü (just a smiley face)
Can
King
U (first letter of "destroy" in æūpîr language)
N (same thing, it's "twitter" now)
G ("please")
Bro got everyone laughing 😐
i LOVE this style of video!! please please PLEASE do more of these, this is really cool (though, i might just be biased as an anthropology graduate with a huge interest in folklore :))
Love how all translations either have it be a legendary trope deeply connected to Asgore himself, a ferocious beast rearing up for a fight, or excavation
Man if only he protected everyone from evil on the EVIL route.
It's call the Genocide Route.
bergentrückung
I thought this song was in asgore and the song had a long pause until i realised it was its own song
I need you and Merg to collab at some point and flex your beautiful voices.
I thought it just meant king under the mountain, nah, it's just another detail that makes me love asgore even more
Willbot became a deltarune character 💀
"Bergentrückung" is also German for "excavation"
man, I love burger truckin'
Hmm yes the meaning of berntrucking
interesting thing, here in Denmark we have an example of it, but it is also subverted in two major points, which makes the direct name inaccurate for it.
Holger the Dane, who fits the trope, except he is under a castle and not a mountain, and he wasn't a king, but one of Charlemagne's Paladins
Mountain King-
Knowing this, imagine if there was a fight against Asgore on the genocide route in hard mode if it existed.
it means a king sleeping on a mountain
That suprisingly fits
Okay wow, I knew it roughly meant “King under the mountain” but had no clue it went that deep.
Nice to see such interesting content from a fellow (Bergen) Trück Freak. 😉
Well, can't wait for the next 6 games
I just call it Burger King for funnies.
In German it does mean excavation soooooo it does fit it because you fell down a hole
I'm actually watching the 5th anniversary concert rn
Mountain Rapture
Fun fact:always thought Asgore was smiling during the battle...
Short explanation: bergentrückung means mountain king.
Nein, Friederich der Rotbärtige ist kein Bergkönig. Er ist ein schlafender König.
Bergentrückung would translate from german to „mountain moving“
Burgentr’ue’ckung
Mr. WillBot.
LoL bergentrückung means excavation
O. M. G.

Bergentrükung means excavation
oh my god your pronounced that so good-
are you german or are you fluent in the language?
Listen to his accent haha. Definitely is a native German speaker
I hear the music in the background
BERGENTRÜCKUNG!!
asgore is a big, silly and lovabol (igk gow to write) great king
i thought it meant vegan truck kung (fu)
Despite knowing German, I can't pronounce Bergentrückung properly because I got used to saying with English pronunciation.
Bugertracking
Bergentrückung also means excavation aka to remove from underneath the earths crust it fits better with asgore because they are hiding underneath the crust of the earth and in order to get out 7 human souls are needed to I guess “excavate” the barrier
i think "Bergentrückung" is "Excavation"
I wonder what Kanye West likes
Same reason why is followed by "asgore"
For people who's having trouble pronouncing it, this is how you pronounce it.
Baerk-in-truuk-oun
And in German, it means excavation
when done it threw google translate it was mountain rapture
Naw dawg im from Denmark and thats is a fucking Danish story of the 800 year old King Holger The Great who awekans when the land is In need.
Holger's Legende ist um 100 Jahre älter als die von Barbarossa.
I thought the very first part of the theme was asgore
That makes so much more sense!!
Doesnt it mean "king of the Mountain"?
I always thought that the word was from turkish, since they have got the ü
Turkey mentioned
ü in german and ü in turkish are of different origins.
are you a fellow german???????????
you pronouced that FLAWLESSLY
@@brot__ oh i was just saying it cuz he pronounced the name flawlessly, and the name of the song is german
Mountain retray -Google Translate.
Germany translation
