lol this is the build I used to beat the game on my first go. Seemed fitting for a black knife assassin to finish what they started. Also had Tiche as summon when needed.
Stacking that weapon art with the summon was boss melting... I used this to actually beat the Elden Beast
@@3nt3rtain it was indeed lol my only issue with the elden beast was he kept running from me then jumping up to do the ring attack
Elden Beast was literally pain in my ass. But Blackknife`s ash save my mind from 80% holy defence.
Same
What stats should I have for level 250 build
The thing about the black knife ranged attack in pvp is that even though the enemy dodges, the initial damage burst misses but the damage over time seems to hit more often
You can call it what you want but pretty much is a glitch with code
@@funynonsence Yeah I've used it a good amount, it seems to be somewhat similar to how status effects can still build up even after dodging the attack, but in this case applies to the DoT effect for the weapon art.
@@albertwesker3299 the broken thing about this and status is something like hemorrhage was proved mid roll no damage gets taken this this you just have to run them down before you get got by brun damage
@@funynonsence Oh I'm not saying it works exactly the same, just that I assume the method behind why it applies is something along the same vein as status buildup with rolls. In all honesty though I imagine fixing it won't be high on From's to do list since the black blade isn't that good in PvP compared to the other monstrosities so it isn't complained about much.
@@albertwesker3299 honestly would prefer this ove rivers spam
Interesting combination. Definitively gonna give it a try, but there are a few things that should be mentioned:
- Both the Blade of Calling and Black Blade's skills deal holy damage, so, as powerful as they are, they're kinda ill-suited against bosses resistant to holy damage, which includes the final boss.
- Benharl won't be selling Assassin's Gambit in the Warmaster's Shack. You must reach Volcano Manor and do Tanith's first mission. Then Benharl will start selling ashes of war again, and when he does so, then he'll be selling Assassin's Gambit.
++
I also add
- This is daggers combo(Pierce) and backstab good use with on humanoid enemy. Try kill mechanical enemy with this ixbt.online/gametech/public/2021/11/15/7fJDqj5VmFIdc5ojyAfl2wE1OIv7s5CSggIhoLQm.jpg?w=990
This game is made so that there is no build that would kill everyone easily. Unfortunately or fortunately :)
Black Knife actually ignores the final bosses resistance to Holy. It’s what I used to kill it.
i stopped using both at once when i found out some enemies absorb 60-80% of the holy damage
I'm trying something similar but using a bloody misericorde for stealth moments and black knife combined with anything really. Scarlet rot dagger for dual wield or use a colossal weapon or whatever after applying black knife debuff.
Sure, but this isn't a mono gold build using Holy damage. Blackblade and jncants to proc their health down, plus black flame that should be used which is particularly effective against bosses.
the black knife has a special charged heavy attack combo. same as the blade of calling and the erdsteel dagger
It has the same heavy attacks :)
It's the same blade just not imbued with Destined Death. Why wouldn't it have the same attacks? They both should give us like Melina/Black Knife movements and attacks though.
@@OG-ColorfulAbyss. They can't give us the same movements because Melina and the Black Knives have Bloodhound Step as well. It would be broken to give both Ashes to one weapon. Also, their jump heavies do more poise damage than a Colossal Hammer, since Tiche can flatten Malenia while you need two hits with Giant Crusher to stagger her...
It would be cool if we got the backstab animation, though.
@@TheFoxfool If it's OP for us then it's OP for them. Obviously those values would be decreased for us.
@@OG-ColorfulAbyss. This is a FromSoft game... the enemy is allowed to be OP, especially if they're a boss most of the times you see them.

Fucking legend 🔥🔥🔥
this is basically a lore video with a side of build guidance. love it! 👍
Looks like a super fun build! The only change I would recommend is slapping the Assassin's Gambit AoW on the Misericorde instead of a standard dagger for the extra critical bonus.
I did that
One of my favorites so far! Something I love about your builds is that even if I don't follow them exactly they help give me inspiration and ideas to explore, which is some of the most fun in ER imo :)
For the flex slots (and for Roleplaying reasons) I'd recommend the crit enhancing talisman, Concealing Veil Taliman, the Crimson Dagger and the Cerulean Dagger talismans (for hp/fp sustain via crits/backstab). Additional gear in the form of a Misericord with either quick steps or Flame of the Redmanes, and purely for fun, the Mimic Veil that you find in Castle Stormveil. It is also worth mentioning that until you get the Black Knife Armor, you can either craft cotton balls to silence your steps or use Assassin's Approach. The later of the two can be used while on Torrent to silence his hooves! Happy Hunting!
My suggestion to improve this is to replace the regular Dagger with Misericord. It can take ashes for Assassin's gambit, can be infused for either Dex or Faith(which would make it Dex/Faith), and has the best Crit rating so when you're stealthing around, crit fishing, you just doing that much more damage.
Only problem some bosses don't give enough time to swap and reposite
@@CHAMPDOGZ for bosses you would mostly use the black knife and blade of calling and their ashes of war. I agree having assassin's gambit on misericorde is much better for going around the open world and stealth killing mobs
It's worth mentioning that if you like the stealth gameplay approach, the Beast-Repellant Torch is a fantastic asset to keep around as it prevents most normal animals from aggroing you, and allow you to pick specific targets out in the wild.
Love it! Thanks for the guide, the ultimate assassin build finally!
Amazing! This is the build I've been working on for the past two weeks, collecting all the items including the tiche spirit summon. So happy to see other people finally talking about this build!
You know, this looks like a perfect coop character build that could help both casters and melee characters beating a boss
Kinda like black knife tiche 😂
Bonus tip for early version of the build: You can pick up the regular Winged Sword Insignia in Stillwater Cave, which is almost right below where you exit Godrick's castle. It's a bit worse, with 3-14% damage buff instead of 6-22%, but the benefit is that you can pick it up as soon as you're strong enough to beat the boss of said cave. If you don't plan on doing PvP or hitting NG+, it might be worth just shanking Alexander the first time you meet him for a worse version of his shard that'll last you the entire game, rather than a top tier version for the last handful of bosses.
I feel a little bad but I may end up doing this. RIP Alexander.
Okay, so hear me out because I rock a super similar build... You want to use Erdtree Dagger in your left hand instead of Blade of Calling. Erdtree dagger can have any ash of war you like and does more damage with faith/dex scaling. I find the skill on Blade of Calling too slow considering the damage is comparable to main-hand Black Knife skill which you are already using... No need to duplicate it when u can have a utility ash of war on left hand instead, like: lightning ram, bloodhound step, etc.
You can still use bloodhound step in your left hand with a dagger??
@@freddytwotoes7326 you just quickly 2hand the left-hand dagger to use its' AOW.
I love this build! It’s a fairer and 10 times more fun version of the deleted Shield Bullets of sin.
To add to the dagger addiction for PvE I recommend a dagger with Redmain Flame (Caelid Weapon art) and a second dagger with royal knights resolve for insane critical damage.
To think ER would make daggers insanely fun instead of a quickstep tool!
I suggest you switch the normal dagger for the Misericorde because it does more critical damage out of all weapons and can still have assassin's gambit on it
Unique build here, really like it! I have just (2 days ago) changed to a faith build on ng+6 and they have now buffed all my incantations. Beautiful!
I’ve actually been running this exact build for a few weeks. Big fan of it!
4:08 ironic coming from a faith build
If you choose the Misericorde dagger as your random off hand dagger. It has a 140 crit damage which I believe is by far the highest crit weapon in the game. Do a quick swap to that dagger for your back stabs
your wording is confusing to me. dont you only backstab with the weapon in your main hand? so u wouldnt wanr misericorde in your offhand at all. you would wanna swap it as your main hand weapon for backstabs. this kinda sucks because you are already swapping your main hand between dark knife and light knife so now u gotta swap in a 3rd main hand
I've had this build in mind for a while so I'm really glad to see others use it so well. Just makes me excited to try it in another playthrough!
I've been doing basically the same build with the armor and incantations but without the blade of calling. I open up with the black knife blade aow, then swap to double erdtree daggers with flame infusion (mh dagger w/ bloodhound step & oh dagger w/ assassin's gambit), switching back to the black knife to refresh the dot.
Black bow also fit the aesthetic of an assassin for a ranged option and using barrage to quickly apply status effects.
That sounds really fun
how do you use the aow of your oh dagger w/assassin’a gambit though? i dont see a way to cast oh weapon art?
@@squintygreeneyes if you want to use any ash of war from your off hand weapon while dual wielding you have to temporarily two hand the off hand weapon to use it then go back to dual stance.
It's the same tech you use for applying seppuku on power stance weapons, there's a number of guides for that which can explain it in cleaner detail.
@@Kingsley_Royal oh, i did not know u can two hand the off hand weapon. thanks i guess u just hold down l1 instead of r1 or something like that
I just wanted to make a black knife assassin build, so it helps a lot !
Thanks :)
Man I love this idea and build. Y I love u guys stuff quality!
For the flex slot, I feel like you could get a lot of use out of the Crimson or Cerulean Assassin's Dagger talismans.
Get back a nice chunk of HP or FP when you land a crit. And when you're being a sneaky Assassin, you should be getting plenty of backstabs, after all!
Wow this is crazy. I literally just found the black knife this weekend and the light knife this morning. This video could not have come at a more perfect time. Thank you for this!!!
another great upload from hollow!
for me i'll use both knife on right hand and a erdsteel knife on left hand that has a sacred order AoW for 10% damage buff (and yes it's straight up buffing both right hand knife AoW 10% even tho the buff is on the left hand weapon), and it's easier to just hit 1 button to swap than hit 2 button to put the right hand weapon away.
For left hand i also hold a seal for the golden vow buff on second slot, since sacred order is a weapon buff and golden vow is a self buff, it is stackable. Everything is super light so it doesn't cost much weight anw
This is such a cool concept. Nicely done.
It’s also good to use the concealing veil. I use this build as a secondary with the blasphemous blades
I've been thinking of making this build ever since I found the Blade of Calling and Black Knife had the exact same moveset. Guess I'll take this vid popping into my sub feed as a sign to finally get round to it! Thanks for another great vid Hollow. 🙏
Those kinds of builds really make me wish power stancing weapons with the same ash of war animation would cast both. It would most likely be busted, yes, and maybe they would deal reduced damage idk but man how cool would it be to fire off the dark and light slashes in quick succession?
edit: grammar.
Im super surprised that you didnt include the distracting cloud ash (cant remember name exactly), creates a cloud that forces enemies to target it. Another great way to force them to show you their backs.
He covered that in another video lmao think about how absurd your comment is though, should he just include every single thing in Elden ring in every video or something?
@@SevenPr1me I do think it would be absurd to suggest everything to be included in a thematic build. I don't think it's a stretch; to even *mention* a skill that literally fits the thematic role of subterfuge, disengaging, and lining up assassinations with Crits.
@@12463trf cool opinion bro
Ngl, I've been rocking this kinda build from launch, and I'm glad to see others vibing with this build too
So...i have a dex/faith build right now and was experimenting, since everyone seems to go strength/faith. Thank you for this build this looks awesome and i cant wait to try it out!
I _really_ wish we could *"dual wield"* sorceries/incantations or have one and the other in each hand.
You can unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying
@@dogs-game-too You _"can"_ but you're only able to have *one* spell/incantation equipped at a time.
Basically I'm saying it'd be swell if we could have two separate spells and/or incantations equipped at the same time.
@@iyeetsecurity922 ah I see what you're saying, yeah that'd be cool. The only way you could sorta do that is having an AoW version of the spell/incant you want on a weapon and the opposite casting item in the other. So for example: glint blade phalanx AoW as your L2, but L1 could have a seal with incants.
@@dogs-game-too That and/or being able to use the wep skill that's on both that you've got in each hand.
But, Meh. Quality of life wants.
Might be irrelevant, but I find it funny the black blade was 666, and the holy blade 712. 7 being. A holy number vibe and Jesus having 12 apostles
I came across this build a few days ago and am using it for NG+ and its super fun. The only non assassin thing I would add is the Elden Beast weapon. The wave of gold destroys adds and its range is better when ridding Torrent. Put away when sneaking but clearing trash is fun in the open world. Scales with Holy also so fits the build already.
I would love to see a Blind Swordsman build. The lore on items says he is a dancing blue swordsman, using a flowing curved sword and a shield for guard counters. He taught Malenia how to fight.
Thank you for the tips, I used this build to beat black knife tiche, gave her a taste of her own medicine
A fun theme for this build would be the gold mask armband's waste armband's waistband ragset and mask with the assassin armor and call it the sunlight assassin
i can recommend the lightning strike ashe of war for a dagger for pvp too. its really good at roll catching if you time it right.
Really good and original build there, makes me wanna try it. Good stuff dude
Love your videos! Definitely going to try this build out. Earned a new subscriber 👍
Question : Which class is best to start with? I'm thinking Confessor since it's sort of DEX/Faith...
I began with the Confessor and i'm not regretting my choice at all ! You can go without thinking !
Great guide. Finally great weapons showcase for rogue build.
I was actually using this combo some time ago and theyre both crazy.
I did that same build a week ago and I do agree it's very op
So for that free talisman slot you have I would suggest using “assassins crimson dagger” it ability is “critical hits restore HP”, as an assassin that is an amazing talisman.
Never found that blade in my first playthru, and i cleaned the world out of everything i could find. When i get done with my second journey ill try this build out
Finally... I was looking for a build with high attack Speed (for successive Hits), that also goes for at least 1 AoW/Sorc/Inc to Deal Damage with. LOVE IT!!! Gonna give it a try asap
A funky weapon to complement this build is the Eclipse Shotel. It scales with the same Dex/Faith as your other weapons, but has the added bonus of that partial shield-ignoring property and death blight to kill the greatshield pvpers.
And you could get 2 to just make it even spicier if you wanted.
Honestly I've been using something like this setup and a lightning magic build it's really fun
Love your builds man ❤️💪🏼
This build would be awesome with the Concealing Veil talisman!
"Completely conceals the wearer's presence while crouching at a distance from does."
Found in the Sage's Cave
i was using that actually on my assassin build (with the Black knife set), but it's only handy for sneaking around, not combat so i tend to swap it out
You make this build video and 20 hours later the 1.04 patch goes live and buffs all the Ashes of War in this, making them cast and/or recover faster.
That timing XD
I recommend the Misericord knife for the ash of war knife, it works the same but has the highest crit modifier in the game
I loved this build. I've been running it for a while and it ended up warping into a critical damage build. Started with Misericorde with Flame of the Redmane. Then I came to find Executioners Greataxe was hitting crits even harder and definitely better range. I don't know if it warrants a full build but I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
yesterday I beat NG+ with almost this exact build, its really fun to use 8/10 do recommend
What bout the last boss these weapons have holy damage
@@thestormkage I didn't use golden blade at all for it, just focused on power stance attacks
I will point out that this build heavily suffers vs Ancient Dragons (Lannseax for example) AND the final boss. They have HUGE holy resistance.
It's fine outside of that.
The Elden beast is actually slightly healed from holy damage lol
@@Jburney131 lmao
This is an awesome build
Very nice. Planning on an ice kunoichi build but damn now I'm gonna have to reconsider. This looks very fun.
FYI Howl of sharabi buffs on top of all other buffs while madness gauge has build up but increases damage taken in that time too. Nice hidden mechanic to play with.
9:00 no, Assassins gambit is purchasable only in Vulcano manor. I had all of his ashes purchased before I got into Manor and those were new ashes.
Specifically it's only available after you complete the first volcano manor assassination quest
for your assassin's gambit dagger i actually recommend having misericorde as it has the highest crit damage of all weapons. have it scale with your stat of choice, use stealth to stab a fool. profit.
Omg I was already duel wielding these now I gotta see new ppl doing this
I appreciate the videos you guys make.
You show great content while leaving out so many world boss encounter spoilers.
Great job gents 👍🏿
this build actually helped me out for the godfrey fight and then the radagon eldenbeast fight. really fun to mess around with, that max health reduction really comes in handy. just make sure after you use it once you swap to melina's dagger as the burst is greater than the dot.
That gay little rap song at the end lmao
I’d add a dagger with bloodhound step for mobility too. Swap too it when you need to close in or dash out quickly.
This build is awesome it's also the only 1 I have seen like it makes the game feel so different
Small correction. Don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but Bernahl doesn't actually sell Assassin's Gambit or Eruption ashes of war until he moves to Volcano Manor.
Looks like a really fun build though. I'm gonna give this a go for sure 😁
I like to make wacky builds right now only one , arcane/bleed faith with dragon spells and archer with sleep arrows.
Eleonora poleblade
Death poker or ROB
Sleep sword
Black bow
Is there any more god like weapons in the game
I totally made this build last week. It’s much fun.
I was actually about to start a build almost exactly like this. Do you think using a poison mist AoW, instead of assassins gambit, with the rot talisman would be viable?
probably, sounds like it would
I do not know for the Poison Mist Ash of War but the spell Poison Mist do not aggro the targets If you cast it unnoticed, I believe it would work wonder with the spell Darkness and the Rot Talisman.
In addition to my previous comment, you could have a keen/holy Misericorde with Assassin's Gambit instead of the regular dagger, and switch to it for backstabs and crits.
Love how you're casually walking around with over 1 million runes
I used these knives for a large part of my first playthrough and it was really strong BUT the black knife was massively bugged and would actively heal bosses to full, even from 5%, when I used the weapon art.
That isn't a bug though. It temporarily reduces their max hp. When that debuff wears off it will heal them (i believe for the amount equal to the amount reduced). The same things happen with Tiche's attacks, Malekith's balde an incantation. You also experience that on yourself when you are struck by that ability from a black knife assasin or ceratin Malekiths attacks. Your max hp gets reduced, after the buff is removed, you get some hp back
@@kassandranna Ye, I get that it's supposed to work that way, that's why I said it was bugged.
And it only happened on enemies with boss health bars.
@@kassandranna >heal back to full
>but they are supposed to heal a little
can you read?
Imagine if you could have two ash of war on one weapon, so you power stance black knife and that golden knife, with blood hounds step, you could literally be a black knife assassin, god that would be fun
if i remember correctly melina was the captain of the black knives until she lost her memories and was tossed aside. thats why she wanted to travel back to the erdtree to find her purpose again, and she found new purpose by opening the way for the tanished who is destined to be the new elden lord
Been using that build for a long time but never thought about assassins gamut gambit or darkness in that way
Finally an equivalent to my invisible dagger build spamming backstab and getting mana back through ring in ds3 and doing all the PVE like that ; I was really sad to see that you couldn't stack the invisibility spell and the silence ring but never tried out Darkness.
Wow this channel is growing
this was the build i started with. from my testing it looked like if you follow the black baldes dot by the light blades spell it removes the black blades dot please confirm?
Fun fact: you can stack the health reduction from the black knife with black blade
Great video. Great title. Seems Ike you actually enjoyed this build. Have you tried a critical build? It uses the French dagger. If you like daggers I would give it a go.
assassins gambit is slept on for sure, i use this every invasion and you can score backstabs all the time. however im playing a ninja build, gonna grab the culling blade when i get a chance. love this combo, reason for my switch to this weapon is moonveil seems to be nerfed and isn't performing to the quality i'd like to see.
An Honorable Mention is the Shadow Bait incantation which is great In 1v1 against tough foes (more free backstabs :))or set up enemies in a tight group for a big boom
Yes sir gonna run this very unique 🤟
Literally run Assassin playstyle builds on any rpg l play and l can't believe l never knew about the actual black knife weapon till now!! 😵 About to go grab both that and the calling dagger! 😎
Bernahl does not offer the Assassin's Gambit (or Eruption) from the Warmasters Shack, just the other six Ashes.. at least not if you have not met him at the Castle first...
Love the video. If at all possible, is there a way you can make a video for Ordovis’s Greatsword or Dragon King’s Cragblade? I love those weapons very much and would love it if you could present a good build for them. Can’t wait to see what you guys have next!
Coolest thumbnail 😎
The assassin's blade is what I've been using through the game since mistakingly selling my bloodhound's fang... It's way more cheesy but I love it
Black Knife=Blade of Calling modified by the Rune of Death, hence the similar model and Weapon Art animation.
I'm about 250 hours in and JUST found the blade of calling last night. It's crazy how much there is to still find
I used this on a faith base cause faith more fun it bro it just smacked like black knifes damage boosts to the sky
Plan to do a Death/Bleed build so basically arcane, dex, and faith. Dual wielding the reduvia and black blade.
