If the launcher is very accurate like you mentioned, just blast the attacker in the face! I'm fairly certain that a few shots in the mug will stop him. And BTW, your first shot on the pumpkin was not as powerful because you didn't pull the trigger once (on safe) to puncture the CO2 cartridge. Also, I bought one in spite of this video. A few things to keep in mind with multiple mags. Each mag is only 5 rounds and the 1st round to puncture the CO2 is not full FPS. Second, the ball retainer is a lightweight spring loaded gate. The slightest nudge and your full clip shoots your load before you can get it fully inserted. I would not plan on having success getting a second clip locked in under pressure.

I was considering the effectiveness against bears, with the pepper gas rounds, in comparison to canned bear spray. That thing would do nothing hitting a thick furry coat. It would probably not even burst. We use a small canned air horn as first line of defense against black bears, not grizzlies! Do not upset the grizzlies! The black bears will charge you to test you, most of the time you can scare them off by acting large and yelling, never run or retreat, you will be chased and caught! They can run almost 40 mph! They act slow most of the time to conserve energy but are lightning quick when on adrenaline! I always carry a few firearms but don't want to use that option if I don't have to. Just remember, black bears want to eat you, they will charge you and test you. You must stand up to them. like you would a large dog, it's your only hope. Never lie down and play dead with a black bear, they will eat you. Grizzlies don't want to eat people, they just don't want to be threatened, so act meek and slowly back away, keep the tension level down. Do not stare or challenge them, just give them space. You can play dead if they charge and knock you down. They may leave sooner. This is what I'm told by many bear guides. So far, haven't had to test it! Check me, do your own research! But never run! Best to make some noise while mountain e-biking, LOL! Bears favorite snack I'm told! Especially where we live in NE Wa. Good luck! Thanks for the video!

@Marshall Smith not with a paint ball gun. I have friends who are guides, an experience, 30.06, heart shot, black bear, ran 75 yds right towards them, the guide had to drop him with his 12 ga. with slugs, which all bear guides use, the only thing that will drop them or spin them on the spot. I use a .45 long colt with Extreme Shock, Enhanced Penetration, exploding rounds filed with Tungsten nitrilium, 725 lbs of knock down energy, cuz I don't want to have to carry a 12 ga all the time. The Taurus Judge Public Defender Poly fits in my pants concealed and I don't have to scare any humans. It also fires 4.10 shotgun shells, great for lots of things, like #7 bird shot for snakes. Depending on the trip and season and local. yeah, a .475 or .480 of .500 might work better if you could get that ammo for that gun but, I don't think so. Very heavy firearms, not the Poly Judge, 2 inch barrel, lol. I hope you know what you're talking about.

    • @WmArthur
      @WmArthur 3 роки тому

@Marshall Smith I'm not a hunter either, I'm simply trying not to be the hunted. Those rounds have Tungsten Nitrilium, kind of like a liquid lead, sort of, they penetrate so far and then open up and create massive damage, I hope I never have to use them, I've never even fired one, they were $70 for 20 about 10 years ago so...they also make frangable ammo that shatters when it hits anything, used in aircraft, submarines, nuclear power plants so as to not damage the equipment, just soft humans. I killed a red squirrel once and felt really bad, but I'd feel even worse if I let my wife or I get attacked by a bear while riding our fat tire mountain bikes through the woods, LOL. I like to be prepared, lol. You sound like my kind of people, Peace!

What about using jawbreakers and/or modifying the power? I know the pepperball tcp can do it, I imagine this one can be modified too. A jawbreaker going at 300 fps should be able to break bones, and potentially lethal if it hits the wrong spot like the eye or temple. I don't think this video should necessarily discourage people from using less-than-lethal guns. It definitely shows out of the box power and the default kinetic rounds aren't enough, at least with a single shot, but that doesn't mean this can't be a valid choice. I think gun owners just want to feel justified in using lethal weapons, even though vast majority of cases don't require lethal force.

I completely agree, And I sure as hell for that kind of money, for even one third the money, wouldn't get or recommend it. Because it DOES NOT WORK!
In fact, my brother, who lives in Commiefornia, asked me to check it out to see what I thought. He'd sent me a video, which I stared to watch, until I saw this one on the right side of the laptop screen and watched it first in stead. Half way into this video, I sent him this link and said if you haven't watched this video yet you might want to. As after seeing it, I wouldn't buy it and I proceeded to tell him what I just told you.

The problem with any type of airgun that uses a CO2 cartridge is pressure drop in regards to temperature. And once you fire that shot, that pressure reduces drastically as the carbon dioxide within the cartridge begins to revert to a solid. That's why Byrna and the other manufacturers recommend that you keep the PDW next to your body to keep the cartridge warm in cold weather. This is probably why the gas balls didn't break on impact. Have you actually tried firing the Byrna with a warmed cartridge at someone wearing layered clothing to see if that would work? Personally, I have a carry permit and my pistol of choice is a H&K USP45. I'm more trusting of proven technology.

Well down here in Texas we do run around in t-shirts so it's pretty effective. I have personally been shot with a thing twice and it did hurt like hell. I've always had a problem with the regular byrna pepper balls bursting in my magazine, and that one definitely Burst when it hit a person. Because they broke so easy I have never ordered the byrna Max thinking they would not hold up in my magazine. I would definitely agree if I was wearing a heavy coat the affect would not be the same as when I'm wearing a t-shirt. I have to say it was a hell of a video and I appreciate you sharing it with all of us. If you read the manual that comes with the Byrna it says to load one Kinetic at the top of the mag so the pepper ball rounds don't burst in your mag. Hope that helps. As for the testing, I've shot at blanket outside from about 5 feet away and 4 out of the 5 pepper rounds burst. No there was no cardboard or metal or anything behind the blanket. Not sure if it was just your rounds or maybe your CO2 carts being low. But never had this issue with mine and I live in a cold weather environment for 9 months out of the year. Thanks!

    Interesting review...
How do you think someone would fair
against a head shot, leg shot or a shot
    to the groin?
You made some very good points, but in a self-defense situation
I would place the rounds where they would do the most damage and
be the most effective. If an attacker had a thick coat on, I'm aiming
above the chest or below the belt!
But to each his or her own.
    Do what's best for you.
    Again, interesting video.

I don’t think the pain would be enough to stop an attacker. But, you have to factor that when you’re under attack, will you have time and the ability to place those shots on to the smallest target? Especially with only 5 rounds. Also, I could not get the max rounds to burst unless they hit a solid target. So I wouldn’t rely on them either. Stay safe! Thanks for watching.

The one I use, and would like to see you guys try and review as well, is the Tiberious T8.1 pistol. The marker has a lot more kinetic power potential. I have tested mine up to 30fpe. Not sure how much that is in joules, but, it packs a punch using glass breakerballs and also with Grinburg 8Gram HP68 mix PVC and Nylon shaped projectiles.
