The last scene of Himmel, turning his back with the cape is the same scene we see in his funeral. Like the final "bracket" of the story telling is closed. Full circle.
Himmel epitomizes what Gandalf say in The Hobbit :“I have found that it is the small everyday deed of ordinary folks that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love.”
nearly 20 episodes later, Stark is still traumatized by what happened at Graf Granat's manor when that man slammed open a door holding an axe.
Serie knew not to speak to Ubel since this is the way she learn new spells
The show becomes better when rewatching this epsiode with reactors recently.
When frieren said "Don't worry, Himmel. The world has change", and you realised irl a Taiwanese did a hero act saying it's what himmel the hero would have done. Yeah in fact the world has change a little bit because of him and the line just hits harder.
And i found people who do intense diet for the sake of cosplaying Himmel

@@theglobalwarming6081 Basically, someone in Taiwan chose violence with a knife on the subway and a few bystanders helped to stop him. One of them turned out to be a hardcore otaku, he got some stitches himself helping restrain the guy, and he was interviewed when he and the others were given public awards for their bravery. When asked about risking his own safety to stop the attack, he said “It’s what Himmel would have done”.
One thing to keep in mind about that laundry spell is also the fight with Lugner. They were tracked by his blood being on their clothes. Now she doesn’t have to deal with that again with that spell

I like to think that the reason the party of heroes never cried at Himmel's funeral was because Himmel doesn't like tearful goodbyes 🥹
I still find it amazing that we didn't need a giant fight with the demon king, the big baddie that created all the evil, to make this series fantastic. A great piece of storytelling.
I felt like she was giving us a short good bye as well and is her way of saying... Don't be sad because we will meet again in season 2. I loved that
Frieren had better win anime of the year. definitely one of the best shows in the last decade.
I believe that at the end of the journey they may end up not only seeing himmel in paradise, but also other characters that we have already seen in the anime who were already old, especially because when they reach the end, 10 years will have passed. It was good to watch you had a viewer from Brazil watching the entire program with you😊
I think someone already commented about this, but it is true that Denken is more or less tutoring/teaching Laufen, we can hear her saying "shishō" when she was choosing which pastry to buy, its a casual term in japanese that basically means teacher (sensei is the formal term).

Serie enjoys youngsters being cheeky tho, and her smile at Wirbel's answer was spine chilling, i really wanna see Serie cast any spell, if it's an epic spell even better, she can probably cast spell non stop for years anyway.
I'm really happy with you pointing out how Frieren cried in the first episode because I really bawled after rewatching Frieren. Knowing Frieren now as a character after who is aloof and goofy after watching the entire season, seeing her cry at Himmel's burial really hit different and my tears just didn't stop flowing 😭
frieren complaining how wirbel tried to kill uber in the exam as if she didnt pull the same trick against the old man. 😂
Well it was more like she was talking about how Fern complained about it and Fern might not have realized he actually didn't try to kill her party when she was complaining to Frieren.

Frieren actually is a little troll inside more often than not. I believe she knowed exactly what would happen when Fern attacked that Solardragon, remember, she did know that there was a fearful Stark around that Fern may not accept
I really like how the last line Frieren says was probably also a way to hint S2.
Excluding Frieren for 1000 years is likely to make Frieren one of the most remembered mages. As long as that organization exists it will have to teach it's receptionists to reject Frieren.

Definitely something you'd rewatch. So many well thought details and moments throughout.
Just on fern for example. How in episode 1 she described to be extremely hard to find in the forest. Mana suppression/control. Episode 2 frieren drawing a circle around fern. Same thing.
Butterfly motifs for fern. You see one of the first spells she learns is butterfly light spell. Probably to her what flowers are to frieren.
Masterpiece of a series
That line Himmel said "it would be embarrassing when we see eachother again" is so powerful. The fact they ended it on that line is easily one of the most beautiful endings to an anime season I've ever seen. It's so simple yet profound. Which basically sums up this show.

Mana concealing doesn't lock it at 10%, that's just what Flamme told Frieren to start practicing at. Later in that same episode Frieren is showing even less mana than what was shown as her 10%, so it's clearly improved since then. You can basically assume that once the ability is mastered, they can set their mana to appear at whatever percentage they want, even down to 0 (like when she caught the bird).
I truly hope that Himmel somehow will know that she cried at his funeral and that he'll tease her a little about it when they meet again. Just to embarass her, as he said it would happen.
Also another nod to the first episode, the final shot here of him walking away was used during the funeral scene as well. Signaling that she was indeed thinking about that moment, just before her tears began to flow.
The callbacks in this show are a masterclass.
Series mindset makes sense if you think about it in terms of lifespans. Her taking on human students would be like us getting super attached to pet flies, after a certain number of them dying every 3 days you would have to block off part of your heart or you would go insane dealing with the mental strain.
Yeah, an anime that is full of emotion, where we see both the hero party and new party journey. One of a kind anime, this is how anime should be. An anime that affects the lives of real humans, a life changing one. We need more of this show, Madhouse should focus on their work in this anime. Everything about this anime is good 100/10.
Thank you for the good reactions for this show really quenched that thirst for more frieren. Now we wait for 2nd season, 10 years maybe?

Hey you guys get the last scene! Most people didn't get that book end to the 1st episode. It was so good right?
A couple of things people may have missed:
- Aura the Guillotine has been back exactly the number of years The Hero Himmel has been dead
- Music at the end of the last episode is the first time it carries on and matches the story in the scene
- Our understanding of magic is based on human understanding of magic ie: Flammel, who brought magic to humans.
- If you pause in the image where Frieren is conjuring the spell to break the Barrier you can see the silhouette of Serie
- Frieren learned the spell to turn grapes sour because it was Eisen's favourite
Man , every time I watch this anime I see something new That I haven't seen before, it's awesome!

I suggest watching the full version of the first opening. It even have an official english version. And it has its own original animation/art.
In hindsight it was so clear who's going to pass and fail
and I love how Übel walk with Land. Like, the ship is sailing the 7 seas at this point 😆
Its also amazing when you realize about how Fern was raised by Heither and is becoming a splitting image of Frieren in magic battle while Stark was raised by Eisen and inherited his combat prowess while constantly showing charisma like Himmel in every town they visit
The ending is double meaning. Both referring to when they meet up with the other friends in the future, and when we, the audience, see them again when the next season comes. Frieren is the best anime of the last year or so. It was a breath of fresh air when the majority of shows have felt way too samey to me.
Especially any that involve a "chosen one" fighting and isekai stories.
I've been tapped out on them for a long while.
Frieren:BJE on the other hand, felt fresh and original despite pulling from some common storysetting pools. Magic, elves, dwarves, dragons, demons, etc.
I highly recommend listening to the full outro song.
It's one of those things that come along with great storytelling and perfect choice in music. The music you initially hear and is just "that song" marking the end of an episode/chapter in a story.
But after getting to know the characters, the world, history, life and journey some of them lived, it hits a lot harder understanding the context behind it.
so that's why we didn't encounter a clone of Land in the maze.

Cara−sanは、キュートな控えめさや慎重さは残しつつ、テンションアップな発言や反応はしていた。Prez−sanも最初は画面外への目線が目立ったが、後半は…今他所視ている場合じゃないから！なギアが6速化状態で、Cara−sanに対してもケア抜きで対等な本気で情熱的に意見を述べていたと思う。
つまりその、リアクションは堅実さは大事だけれど、やっぱりリアクター達が本気で作品に向き合う時、本領発揮した時にこそ視聴者も視点が増やせ価値ある物になると思う。
今更ながら、28話の最後の解釈は、それでも納得行くような作品愛が伝わった。後半はリアクターお二人の実力が垣間見えたし、実力派としてのスタンスも行けそう。結局は大元の人間性でレビュー視聴数より質で人気が出るケースも多く、その点で言うなら、寧ろ得意というか強味なのでは？
Land pass the exam through zoom and Stark with his Nobel-ptsd xD, cause of the haircolor i would believe that Wirbel has something to do, even far, with himmel. "death isn't the only goodbye in the life" hits hard but the cool thing about frieren in person is, without the second journey, i think she couldnt call serie a child :3 so much subtle characterprogression, i love it, awesome written

you know what's interesting in this show is they made character less colorful like not too flashy to be noticed but they're actually strong like Methode the girl she's actually really strong she managed to buy time against the clone Fern

1:00 I find it kind of insane in retrospect, when Flamme told Serie that she and her cannot beat the Demon King, but Frieren can, when Serie is at least 10x as strong as Frieren. I think this implies or at least hints at the true power of the Demon King, where it cannot be defeated by pure strength alone, because it will get turned back on you, especially if you are not of the right mindset.
Its worth a rewatch for sure. You should rewatch it in English! The DUB is one of the best out their. The voice actors in both the English and the original are both fantastic
Regarding your discussion at the start regarding mana, when they first met Heiter said she has roughly 1/5 of his mana, so it would mean he has half of Frieren's full mana. Quite a significant feat for him, but the Hero Party were all mosters, after all
There has (finally) been an official Frieren Season 2 announcement. There's even a small teaser trailer. AFAIK there has been no official date set tho.
this is the only Anime I ve seen that can match LOTR by characters,dialogues and moments
This show definitely deserved its rating. If anyone asked me, what is your closest to perfect fantasy anime, it would most likely be Frieren for the next few years.
Aw... Didn't include your reaction to Seire's reaction for what Fern requested. Her having the same face as Friren at times is great. Congrats on finishing the season! What a great conclusion. Denken and Wirbel remembing what they did to defeat the demon king and doing the small things that really affected people's lives. A man helped stop an attacker on a Japanesee train, I think, because "It's what Himmel the hero would have done". Incredible show!
I'm worried the next arch of this story won't be as much fun. Fern and Stark are going to get older and no one has said Elves are immortal. They are traveling toward Heaven.

So the 1/10th isn't that accurate either. Early on Flamme asked Frieren to suppress her mana to 1/10th then. But since then, she has continued to grow but her mana has always appeared to be the same. And his guess that Frierens mana being close to Seiries was just his best guess but he could only guess to Frierens actual mana size

Serie is the closest thing to a god walking the earth in the series. Nothing comes close to her knowledge or experience
Frieren cant go toe to toe with serie alone but frieren and her old sqad can,,
In regards to the preamble, I don’t think it’s for sure that Serie is suppressing her mana to 1/10th of its actuality, like Fern and Frieren do. Maybe she is, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she was suppressing it, but maybe only like 50% give or take compared to 90% like Fern/Frieren
Flamme, who taught Frieren and learned from Serie said 10%, so what you're saying has no supporting statements in the story

The fact that Flamme told Frieren to limit her mana to 10%, doesn’t mean that Serie is doing the exact same thing. She could be, but the whole point of my post is that we don’t know.
Theres nothing in the show/manga (I’m only on vol 9 so far) that says Serie is suppressing her mana to the same extent that Frieren and Flamme do

mostly i felt it a little of talking about her self too, and or personal experince of other mages.
"Waste of time" here would simply mean "not worth doing/pointless," rather than her saying she literally cared about the time. Even when Frieren "wastes time" they're still things that she sees as serving one purpose or another.
I think frieren has her own views on what is a waste of time. Frieren is also able to be bored so time still does pass relatively the same for her it’s just in retrospect or thinking about the future the scale is way too different than humans
