Same. I never actively try to rank anime. Even though i know it's not groundbreaking or anything, i would have always said my favorite anime is non non biyori. It's my comfort show. If asked what's the best anime i've seen, it would have been Attack on Titan. But this... even though i've only seen one season so far... it's just perfect. For what my interests and likes are, this anime is perfect.
10:04 It doesnt even take an entire episode for this show to hook you. Its incredible. One of those "I wish I could forget it and watch it over" pieces of media.
You mean, forgetting it to have the pleasure to rediscover it each time?... Sure. But, don't you think this is more one of those where the more you re-watch it with memories of it, the more you got hyped? For Frieren, i got more emotional when i watched it AGAIN. Either ways, it's definitely an anime / story you fall in love with, first watch or multiple ones. ^^
OMG .. am so happy u decided to watch this *masterpiece* 🔥👌🏻 you're gonna love every moment of it 💯♥️ the *story* .. the *landscapes* , the *music* .. the *characters* .. the *feelings* .. the *dialogue* .. are all on point 👌🏻
Frieren is a nice change of pace from the dark and depressing shows I tend to watch (AoT, HotD, etc.). Frieren's major theme revolves around appreciating what many perceive as insignificant and mundane. It's a beautiful and uplifting message.
Rewatching this anime again after learning the lore and the impact of Himmel and his teams, really makes me cry watching Himmel died, goddamn this is a masterpiece
Many of the character names are German words btw: -"Frieren" means "(somebody is) freezing" (here probably "frozen" in time for example) -"Fern" means "far away" (/ "distant") -"Himmel" means "sky/heaven" -"Heiter" means "joyful" -"Eisen" means "iron"
Exactly lol. Checks every single box is a great way to put it. That's how it is for me as well. Just got done saying pretty much that on another comment.
The best part of the show is how connected you feel to characters you only just recently met. It's all about playing into their strengths and to show the impact they had on others. Frieren openly crying at the funeral for Himmel is just a catalyst for so many to realize it's okay to be sad.. that she is experiencing true grief and regrets. No one wants to make someone cry, but to be the reason they are crying when you pass is a sign you made their life better. Himmel, for his brief appearance, was written so well and with such care that you feel he was a shining star in a dark world. Heiter as well, but his importance to the story was his father figure lessons to Fern, being the most important person in her life aside from Frieren. I would include Eisen, but he's not dead! Can't give posthumous praise to someone who is alive and well. but he is a very strong father figure for Stark and genuinely cares for Frieren's happiness. There is a very good reason why there's such a high rating difference between the second place and first place animes of all time (at least on MyAnimeList). The pacing, the beauty of craft, the adoring characters, the sympathetic titular character. I want more of it, but I am so afraid of how difficult it will be to top such amazing quality.
You are not ready for how good this show is. Been watching nine since 97 and this is easily in my top 10. Yes the emotional parts are peak asf but they also do fights/action to a level you simply have never seen when they happen. Buckle up kiddos …..your minds are about to be blown . Let it cook You need to react to this show EVERY DAY! I’m not even joking, this needs to be your MAIN focus
Sousou no Frieren is anime of the decade. To me it outclasses AOT and FMAB. Great story, characters, VA work, color pallette, use of transitions, OP, ED, pacing, themes, humor, action, and the OST by Evan Call is legend. You guys are in for a helluva ride. Great reaction. Insta-sub. 😊
I hope you enjoy this anime, it is great! The first episode of this anime was originally planned to be released as a 90 minute movie but was instead changed into 4 episodes released on the same day. To get the full sense of the anime you should watch the first 4 episodes before deciding if you want to continue. That being said I believe you will like it enough to continue the series.
Welcome to this incredible journey guys! Hopefully you will enjoy this jewel as much as all the people that already saw it before. Frieren shares her voice actress with Anya Forger from Spy X Family (Atsumi Tanezaki) and Himmel is voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto (Katsuki Bakugo on My hero Academia).
He appeared for less than 10 minutes. Gave one of the most honest and heartwarming speech and gains the love of everyone. Dies. Himmel. The hero. The CHAD
It's great that you decided to watch this masterpiece. Get your tissues ready. One of the questions that this anime brought up is that I've been an RPG player for over 30 years. I've played with several species and professions. I've read Tolkien, among other works. But I'd never stopped to think about what it must be like for elves to live the life of a human, how painful it must be to know, love, and lose so many times. Highlander touches on this subject, but very quickly.
Omg now we get this anime from you guys! Gonna be waiting every episode for a reaction It will be a good ride cause this is probably my favorite recent anime
This is the perfect way to immediately put the viewer into Frieren's shoes. A lot of your comments toward the end were "I wish I got to know him a little better before he died." Exactly what Frieren is feeling in that moment
They give you enough about the party of heroes to get you to know them enough so when they skip time it's all you need to empathize with them and feel the loss. We covered 80 years in this episode. So good.
Yes, a dangerous anime, even rewatching it. Scenes just become harder to watch the more you know. And a lot of us miss the subtle visual storytelling the first time; Like how only Himmel was waving at the cheering crowds. It's not just foreshadowing, it's also so... Himmel. Glad you're watching this masterpiece.
I cried a lot during this anime lol. And I've watched a few reactions and cried through those too 😂I'm glad you're checking this one out. Love your reactions, and this one will be great!
Frieren is close to perfection in my eyes. Animation, backdrops, colour palette, score, pacing, the emotions it evokes, the fact that the animators take the time on idiosyncrasies like Frieren left leg encountering some resistance on the bush while approaching Fern in this episode. Already know Devi's gonna be a mess throughout😅
It took me a couple watches to fully appreciate the first episode. You almost feel robbed by the time skip, and it bothered me at first, but in a sense, you and Frieren were both robbed of getting to know him better, and you can really empathize with her.
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Sousou no Frieren! I hope you really enjoy this anime series! A lot of modern Japanese fantasy is tailored after the Lord of the Rings. Frieren is very Tokeinesque, so Elves are nearly immortal, Dwarves live a few hundred years and humans 70-90 years. Just a few things if no one else has mentioned it; this anime is really about paying attention to little details, as small things make emotional impacts later in series.
