My favorite episode of the whole show! Stark is my favorite 😭 I'm glad you noticed Stark defeats himself in his fight scenes, it makes more sense after you know his backstory so most people don't notice it until they watch the show a 2nd time. He's not scared because he's weak, he was scared because everyone told him he was weak as a kid, and he didn't know his brother and his master were honoring him with the steaks until now. But he's always been a kind person who helps people, he's so precious
I have never cried so much while watching an anime in my 39 years of life. I remember getting choked up on episode 1, sitting back and going ... "this is going to be epic". Such a good show, and many more good tears to come ya'll.
Saw this comment on another channel A "Fake" Hero A "Corrupt" Preast A "Cowardly" Warrior And a "Disgraceful" Mage This is the party that brought peace to the world, without destiny being on their side. This series has masterful writing
I loved the timing of Nesa at 12:10 saying "This is where the romance starts" to an immediate smash cut of CLOUDBOOBS 😂 What an episode, though. F's in the chat for Stoltz. And for the clothing potion. Loving your reactions and how invested you both are into the story. Keep those tissues close. More episodes to come. ❤
Given how Eisen and STark's family celebrate BDs its hinted that they are from the same region. Also throughout the show Fern and Stark were not walking close to each other, but now they do. Not only this but in last episode Stark saved Fern from falling. Their relationship is growing throughout the series. It's not something which just happens.
Stark’s mouth quivering as he eats and remembers gets me. I recommend Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū. It’s not popular but it is a phenomenal story. Criminally underrated.
Really that Himmel was a "fake" hero is more meaningful than if he did pull the sword. He wasn't chosen by a goddess or destiny, he wasn't born to some great lineage. Himmel wasn't inherently special, which means that anyone else could become like him, because he's solely what he made himself to be. Stark compares himself unfavorably to Himmel, like he does to Stolz, but Stark constantly helping those around him makes him more like Himmel than he realizes.
Kanehito Yamada's first work (which is written and drawn by himself, a short manga) also has this similar tone's/nuance's to frieren, a survival slash slice of life genre with a mix between comedy, bittersweet and sad moment's, and in my opinion his first work is such a nice piece of work, with beatiful message's...
I love how this manga/anime makes the point to provide a bit of humor after emotionally heavy moments, it makes the scene more bittersweet than outright miserable or sad for the sake of providing tragic backstory, while still giving enough emotional weight to the moment. So many hit anime of recent years don't seem to recognize this and although some are great stories I kind of find them depressing e.g. Jjk, Aot, csm, Vinland Saga etc... I think a lot of other people are starting to feel the same way because the even some of the new and upcoming heavy hitters are recognizing the value of humor in the right spots e.g. Kaiju number 8, sakamoto days and Dandadan, Dandadan in particular is amazing.
I second "The Apothecary Diaries" as an anime to react to. I really loved that and Frieren. "The Apothecary Diaries" has one of the best main characters i have ever seen and her interactions between Jinshi and her are comedy gold.
The first time we see the flashback of Stark's village being attacked, his brother is faceless, because Stark can't remember his expression. Stark only assumes that his brother was angry or disappointed that Stark had run away. It's not until his memories become clearer that we learn that his brother was smiling because Stark would live.
You asked for anime suggestion... whelp, if you like the Fern-Stark romance/comedy duo with the occasional crying moments then your next anime definitely should be the Apothecary Diaries
In the Village of The Sword when exterminating the monsters, Fern asks why they don't hire adventurerd to dispose of the monsters. Frieren responds, "It's because Himmel is the Hero." A few minutes later we find out that Himmel never pulled out the sword but the story of him was that he did. They know it's not true, but Himmel still defeated the Demon King. The monsters appear around there because of the sword and they are drawn to it. The fake story forced Himmel the Hero to return and exterminate monsters to keep the lie going. Now that he's dead, it's up to Frieren. Eventually enough people will realize the truth and it will overpower the fake story, or the Real Hero will come along and pull the sword. "The Hero's Sword can only be pulled from the stone by the hero who will drive off the great calamity bent on destroying this world." This suggests that the Demon King wasn't "the great calamity".
anime I would recommend: Title (type) Made in Abyss (adventure) Violet Evergarden (like a soap opera?) Delicious in Dungeon (adventure) Re:Zero (Isekai) Eminence in Shadow (Isekai, Action, comedy) Saga of Tanya the Evil (Isekai, military) Full Metal Panic! (military, comedy) One Punchman (action, comedy) Overlord (isekai)
Here's my suggestions: Steins;Gate, The Apothecary Diaries and Re:Zero. You can't go wrong with any of them! If you're interested also in films: Your Name and A Silent Voice are two really good options but you probably already know.

Such a masterful episode. One of my favorites of any anime. The storytelling, the music... has brought me to tears a few times now.

The character development in this series is some of the most organic and beautiful I've seen. It never feels forced or out of place.
The Frieren run you guys been putting out is phenomenal. We eatin good, TY & Itadakimasu
When stark sees the hero sword he thinks maybe his brother could be the hero.
Himmel is strong enough to single handedly keep the demons from venturing out until after his death.
When your own father declares that you are a failure, then that is how you think about yourself. This is a trap that is hard to escape!
Stark’s mouth quivering as he eats and remembers gets me. I recommend Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū. It’s not popular but it is a phenomenal story. Criminally underrated.
Frieren was looking at the same ring in ep.1 after Himmel's funeral.
you want to know how strong himmel is? just imagine all the demon leftovers go into hidding until he die

The author of Frieren originally made it as a short comedy. But the author's publisher had the author turn it into a novel.

That publisher is carrying the anime industry just for that
EVERYONE WHO WORKS HARD IS A WARRIOR!!! Eisen has the best lines!

I would second this recommendation. Apothecary Diaries is top-flight story telling and you will fall heavily for Mao-mao.
10:32 Chillih seems really like that gift .
Thanks a lot for your great reaction🥲.....the final ep break everyone.🙄Himmel as well Stark not perfect been a perfect story....Himmel awesome !

Fern applying the lessons on gifts she got from Sein is 🥰
Himmel (a German word meaning sky or heaven) sounded like Himo (a Japanese word meaning a string or a man who parasitizes a woman).
i forget that Frieren's Voice Actor also voices Anya lol that smug look
peak writting, story telling, character develop Id say
I'd say you are right!

Mushishi is definitely on the watchlist, but Chihayafuru is one of my favourites, unfortunately already watched it.
