Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Sousou no Frieren. I hope you really enjoy this anime series! A lot of modern Japanese fantasy is tailored after the Lord of the Rings. Frieren is very Tokeinesque, so Elves are nearly immortal, Dwarves like a few hundred years and humans 70-90 years. Just a few things if no one else has mentioned it; this anime is really about paying attention to little details, as small things make emotional impacts later in series. For instance, the reason why Frieren bought a hair clip that had a butterfly design was because the first time Fern showed Heiter her magic, she made an illusion of glowing butterflies. You DO learn why Frieren has a habit of collecting spells, and it all starts with her master, who is revealed in Episode 4 and you learn way more about her in the penultimate mid-season episode 10. There is a thought that since Preists are the onlky ones who can effectively use holy magic (dispelling and resisting curses, casting blessings and healing) that they are also granted longer lives than normal. It's speculated that Heiter passed away when he was over 100. Every name in Frieren is a German word and they have meaning. There is a school of thought that this whole story is Frieren's reminiscence, since people are named for concepts that encapsulates a memory/impression, rather than normal German names. This has more than one meaning, but the two most common interpretations is that we learn that Elves in Frieren are essentially immortal, so Frieren will eventually "send off" all her non-elven friends. The second meaning is to "see someone off" is also a euphemism for killing and is Frieren is first identified by a demon as the titular character.

How old can Elves get? Well, depends on the setting. If you go with Lord of the Rings, they are - literally - somewhat immortal. If you take Galadriel at the time that Frodo is on his journey, then she's about 14000 years old... So - from 200,300 years up to immortal, everything is in it ;) Worst thing for Frieren though... these ends will happen again and again - as long as she has some kind of relationship to humans. Or dwarfes - they live way longer than humans, but also short compared to an elf. So... maybe it's for the best if she's not THAT emotional.
In lord of the rings they are literally unagaing and unless killed immortal. Many Fantasy worlds have them as longer lived but not necessarily immortal aka a few hundred years.

That's an Anya Forger meme smile.
The Voice Actor for Frieren is also Anya's VA.
Oh yey he is reacting to peak.
episode 1-4 is actually the first episode itself :)) they released it in full length thats why it cuts off that rapidly enjoy my man just enjoy its more then worth it
U expect no less from madhouse. At this point, I feel like hxh and frieren are my favorite animes because they were animated by this amazing studio.
This is one of the better ones
Frieren and Anya share the same voice actress btw
Yeeeessss, Neel reacting to Frieren, finally

eidt: please uplaod 2 episodes in one reaction
Enjoy the ride. This show is good
the MAN experienced PEAK
How old can Elves get? Well, depends on the setting. If you go with Lord of the Rings, they are - literally - somewhat immortal. If you take Galadriel at the time that Frodo is on his journey, then she's about 14000 years old...
So - from 200,300 years up to immortal, everything is in it ;)
Worst thing for Frieren though... these ends will happen again and again - as long as she has some kind of relationship to humans. Or dwarfes - they live way longer than humans, but also short compared to an elf. So... maybe it's for the best if she's not THAT emotional.
"now he sees it from the grave" naahh dawg😂
btw i think you missed the sweet connection with the sour grapes :)) she collected this "useless" spell now we know why :)))
He mentioned it when Eisen was eating them
A learned after few episodes that his show doesnt run on predictions and stereotipes.
In lord of the rings they are literally unagaing and unless killed immortal. Many Fantasy worlds have them as longer lived but not necessarily immortal aka a few hundred years.
Elfe lifespan change depending on the source, in average they are said to live for 5000 years but in some they live for over 10k
Ye, but in this show they pretty much can't die of old age
Fern would be a good hunter. Well loved by animals.
Frieren is Fern mother, but
Fern also being mother to her mother (frieren)
7:35 You literally pulled that info from your arse good mister. Himmel is probably older than Haiter and probably by about 5-10 years.
as for how long elves live, forever it seems lol
Can't wait for you to watch episodes 25 & 26
Fun Fact, so Many or Almost every Name are Random German Words thats so Funny as a German. Like Himmel is Sky or Heaven. Eisen is Iron... Kinda Funny yeah
And btw Frieren means Like Freezing. thats so Cool If u See her facial expressions are More Like "Cold" yk?
yay, frieren, also the dub is amazing (in my opinion maybe better than sub).
All according to Eisen-sama's plan 😂
In general in high fantasy dwarves live typically serval hundreds of years and Elves are nigh-immortal if not killed. Think LOTR...
The elves in this world seem to be biologically immortal they can be killed but they don't age.
One of the best anime
I dont know why but im sad... whoo boy it doesnt get better my guy.
Frieren developed the zoltraak vaccine lmao
