Great idea about shimming. On another Mini RC channel I saw that tiny amount of superglue was used to fix the pins into the gears. Though now thanks to you I realize your method makes later upgrading much easier as the gears aren’t permanently glued to the shafts. Cheers :)
Great video on the FCX24. I love mine too. i have been lucky so far with my portals but I have the metals gears on the way also so I can fix it when needed. Keep up the great work! Well done!

Thanks for sharing I ordered metal gears for mine I decided might as well do that before I even use it. I weathered mine up ando am building a flat bed for it now. Is looking really good.

Glad you posted this. I actually just got my FMS delivered today. I also just finished upgrading my SCX24 Gladiator last week. I just started getting back into RC stuff a couple weeks ago. My 8 yr old daughter saw me watching Kevin Talbot videos and said,"Daddy you should get us 1 of those, that looks fun". So, we now have like 7 or 8 of'em. Needless to say, you'll have a new subscriber tonight. Congrats on your channel coming up.

Excellent vid, thanks so much. The fcx24 is on my shopping list too. I'll be checking those portal boxes when I get it. For making the shims can I suggest using a hole punch on some suitable material then retrieving the punched out circles for use as shims? Just an idea? 👍

Hi, thanks for the video, apparently FMS are doing a free replacement upgrade to metal gears if you send evidence of purchase and picture of the damage. How long does the battery last when crawling?
I get a good 30 plus mins if crawling and so im not 100 % sure if ill get a free gear replacement i know fair rc said they will but i got mines from amazon
I ordered the metal gears up front, got my goodies quickly, installed and worked well. Two weeks later I got another set courtesy of FairRc as the first batch had som issues. These seem light years better whisper quiet!
@@XxTACTIKZxX Finally I get a Fcx24, I'm from Germany and they are not officaly listed in Shops until now. Ordered it from China direct. They have the Metal Portal Gears installed right out of the Box now! Great FMS! That's very cool!
It's far from perfect but all 1/24 are. We all value aspects differently but it does offer better electronics, servo, motor, better then anything else on the market. Plus the portal axles! To get a scx24 to perform like this fms you'd have to put in several hundred dollars of upgrades.
@@trailwomanrc no hard feelings to the scx24 but i feel the same exact way and tbh i love these electronic factory and the 2 speed makes this thing grate

Great Content man. I ran into a similar issue, but it turned out to be caused by my brass wheel weights. Great fix though!

Any time im super excited about this rig my metal gears finally came in and its back up and running so got some new wheels for it

Make sure to reduce that shaft play with a o ring or shim makes a huge difference

Yes its a set to replace all four hub assemblies

You could always purchase a Traxxas - TRX4M that has all plastic gears & includes no ball bearings at all for $149.99, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And no 2-speed transmission
