just remember Randy never realy liked Black Sabbath, so in my opinion he made it his own,, I love the solo he came up with. It brings some energy to an already killer song , but I have to say Randy 's version is his signature and my icon isnt sporting a bow tie for nothing.
Randy had a totally different style than Tony's thats the obvious, Randys tone was brighter, more reverb and just and I'm not sure which scale it's called hes using but it's a happier one than Tony's that's for sure lol He definitely made every cover song he's done his own and I think Tony would agree that Randy totally remastered his songs to his own style that Tony as a blues/jazz player isn't really able to recreate
Randy kept to his classical influence in mostly playing diatonic solos, especially with the harmonic minor scale and Phrygian mode. Tony, on the other hand, mostly used the blues scale. Not sure that I agree with you on the reverb bit, I hear it much more with Tony, although it may have been natural reverb due to where Sabbath recorded.
@@Gabe-1997 Agree to Disagree haha it seemed like some concerts it was a breath of fresh air but the doamm tour his tone was beyond it's time dimebag status his performance in Kalamazoo says it all
I was there! That was one of the best shows I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot!). I wish my eyes had been cameras! Sadly, I don't remember as much as I wish, simply because, at the time, I did not realize how important and unique this show would be for me...
thats the trick...thats what separated Rhoads from all the others and we still admire him 40 years later...he played with MEANING AND EMOTION...thats what he stressed to his students. Sure ,there are guys who can play a ba-zillion notes a second, but thats ALL they are doing...playing a ba-zillion notes a second.
he could play fast.....when it called for it, he had great dexterity that is why he gets grouped in with shredders. Technically incredibly sound but what he had above many was God given talent to compose and write melody and play melodic bits. He turned this song into a melodic song.
Paranoid in this show outshines the one on tribute and tribute is incredible!! This just shows you, what a brilliant guitar player Randy was.. his tone was always incredible!! The man was a musical genius.. I say no more..
Ozzy did say Randy drank sometimes he might have had a buzz at that concert or had been nervous as shit or its just that chorus pedal throwing all that muddy shit in his playing because his playing is clean as hell usually. Randy Rhoads is the shit that will never turn white and never get old to me, he has inspired a prodigy
Randy hated Black Sabbath. i don't even like listening to him playing their stuff, because i know he didn't want to be doing it. it's hard to be inspired playing music that you hate.
how can you not stand Ozzy's voice live? hes now on top form! and Zakk Wylde may be no Randy but you should really give the dude a REAL listen.. he is one of the top shredders in the world
For someone that wasn't too crazy about Black Sabbath, Randy surely had a blast playing this song. The live Tribute is a lot better, but this is a great alternative to Tribute's. Awesome stuff. Love the fills.

@jakemann2000 I got it too - the King biscuit version HAD this and Iron man and I think over the mountain. I also don't think this was from the KB tapes....
a guy who knew Dimebag said the one guy he would talk up the most, was Randy Rhoads....he thought Diary of a Madman was next level and he studied it one summer. Obviously tribute came out in 1987 and was probably one of the worst shows the band did, and the unedited version is much better.
The only reason i listen to Ozzy's band is Rhandy.....I cant stand Ozzy's vocals when he is live....or Zakk Wylde for that matter.Rhandy is too good to be associated with them
Guys, It's totally normal that you think Randy made it as his own style. This version is awesome too. But anyway, this is an Iommi style solo. Randy's solos were always more dynamic but he use similar tecniques Iommi used before. So he is absolutely effected from Tony Iommi, another guitar virtuoso. Just as an example in the beginning of solo he played something like end of Fairies wear boots.
@juggert i cant stand ozzy's voice live and i hate zakk wylde and i am crazy about Randy's playing. Hes the greatest guitarist to ever live in my opinion.
i'm not joking, why couldn't it have! Randy was my friend and teacher, this was murder /suicide ,the pilot was trying to hit the bus and kill the 2 stars, instead the one that had real talent and a great future is gone ,and the roach is still alive, and doesn't even know why!
The original was great, but this is that next level of genius
Randy’s tone is just killer.
Randy was incredible. Ozzy owes him a great deal. I suspect without Randy, Ozzy's career would be finished after the departure from Black Sabbath.
Ozzy never misses a chance to show his love and respect for Randy and what he contributed to the band

Randy Rhoades. Legend on the guitar 🎸. Never gets old. Listening to the music. 2022
So much variation, depth, and intensity. Randy’s renditions of CotG were among the very best ever performed

too much reverb added. I like this mix better. its dry
I like the solo version on tribute , its the best he came with
The original mix is much better than tribute
@@coreygood86 I love the original recording by black Sabbath as well.

Why the hell was there even a plane there to get in...put RPG right through it and defend Randy

IIRC Ozzy said Randy would have one light drink at most if Ozzy could convince him to. I doubt he was drunk. He sounds fine here anyways.
